Those are some pretty good drawings of Pterano!

I saw him as the heel that I loved to hate. It was nice to have him see the errors of his ways and turn face at the end of the 7th movie.

Too bad he didn't appear in any of the subsequent movies. But seeing as the timeline was to have the Gang of Five still as children, Pterano wouldn't come back to The Great Valley, still purging his five years of banishment in The Mysterious Beyond, it makes sense. (Did they actually say that, or was it five cold times?)

You've got the makings of a good fanfic there!

I had Pterano make a cameo appearance in one of my fanfics, though technically not a Petrie's uncle, but rather as a character Petrie interacts with in an alternate universe.  :smile

I must admit that those images are not the best in the world, but I'd say they're pretty ok for a beginning artist(assuming you are a beginner...)

I especially liked the rather "suggestive" pics of Little Foot and Allie. I wrote a couple of fanfics where both character were actually mated and had children together. Grown up versions of them, of course!  :smile

I always saw those two as being made for each other!  :angel

I don't know when I'll be writing another story. I need to come up with some ideas.

This is a fanfic I'm currently working on in cooperation with someone I know on here simply as "The Chronicler".

Some of you may know him. He's got this theory about the origins of the rainbow faces that were seen in LBT 7. He's provided me with his ideas, and asked me to write a story about it.

It's incomplete right now, for "The Chronicler" has made himself my personal "editor", and I only have so much time in a day to write this story. RL has a tendency to do that!  :p

General Land Before Time / My impressions on LBT 11...

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I couldn't see anywhere else to put this up.

I saw the 11th movie, "Invasion Of The Tinysauruses", for the first time yesterday.

Overall, it's not a bad movie, but I've seen better LBT movies. I guess my absolute favourite will always the be LBT 5. Maybe it's because I'm more partial to Chomper.  :smile  With LBT 7 a close second, because of the rainbow faces.

Whoever produced this movie must've seen "The Wizard of Oz" when (s)he was a kid. I'm sure a few people on here are at least familiar with the movie. I know I've seen it a few times growing up. The munchkins must've been the inspiration for the tiny longnecks. I was half expecting Little Foot to say "Somehow, I don't think I 'm in Kansas anymore!" when he saw all the tinysaurs gathered around him at the foot of the sweet leaf tree. I also half expected them to start singing "We represent the lollipop guild etc." When Little Foot fell through that hole into their underground lair, and they came out from hiding.

I'm guessing those tinysauruses were also full grown, as "big daddy"'s about the same size as they are.

I also find that the side story of Cera not liking her father's new love interest, Tria, truly reflects what today's society's countless girls must feel when they see their father, who's been single for years, falls in love again; and is faced with the process of having a stepmother.

Any girl with a single father who watches this may identify with Cera in this respect. They may not like their new stepmother at first; but once they realize that the woman in question loves them just as much as their real mother would, like in the case of Tria's compassion to Cera, may grow more attached to the new mother figure in their lives.

Anyway, those are my impressions on this movie. I invite your comments!  :smile

I should warn you: It's pretty long! It's even longer than my first story "The Time Of Great Need".

My next planned fanfic is in cooperation with someone else. I won't say any more than that for now. I'll let you know when THAT one is completed!

I agree. However, in my story, I felt it necessary to reflect the opposition certain Great Valley residents would have towards Petrie and Ducky's mating. That scene I wrote was borrowed off of many property damage scenarios I've seen in movies and on TV where somebody would trash somebody else's place simply because they hated the other person for just being who and what they are.  :neutral

*sighs* I've always labelled that as a fear/threat reaction. I know this personally. I was often picked on in school for being so different.

I'm assuming there is more tolerance and awareness towards this phenomenon now than there was then. Of course, I haven't set foot inside a schoolyard in almost 20 years, nor do I intend to in the future.  :neutral

I don't know when I'll be able to complete my next fanfic sequel. Just this week, I've gotten new work hours that could severely limit my time in working on this story in the evenings, like I usually do. But I'll get it done! Don't you worry, senora!  :smile

I will let the cat partially out of the bag in saying that the sequel will involve an offspring; plus another controvertial mating. This time between a flattooth and a sharptooth. I won't say who, though! I'll leave that to your imagination.  :smile

And, of course, you had to expect some residents of The Great Valley not agreeing to the pairing taking action somehow, like what happened in the end.

But if you thought the "racism" showed in that story was "bad", wait 'till you see what I have in store for the upcoming sequel.  :p

Well, you can't expect the sequels to be just as good as the original.  :p

Isn't that the case with all movie sequels? If you saw the 2nd Transformers movie this summer, I seriously doubt you thought it was better than the first one. I saw it myself. Although I still thought it was good, it wasn't "as good". I still thought the fight scenes between the robots was difficult to follow.  :p

(General comment):

As for the LBT movies, personally, I find the sequels to be better than the original theatrical release. Maybe it's because animation technology has gotten way better than back in 1988. I haven't seen all of the movies yet. I've gotten as far as the 8th installment. I had to skip the 6th one, because "I just couldn't find it". I could only find the opening part on Youtube. Whoever posted it didn't bother putting up the rest of the movie... or maybe (s)he couldn't... I've looked for it in the local video stores in my area this weekend to see if I could rent it, but they didn't have it; and I don't wanna buy a movie, unless I think it's good enough to own.

If I was to pick a favourite, I'd have to say the 5th installment. Maybe because I'm partial to Chomper, and he plays such an active role in that movie.  :smile

My least favourite would probably have to be the 8th installment, mostly because they portray Mr. Thicknose as being such a "ninny" in that movie rather than the more wise and knowledgeable figure he is in the TV series.  :p

General Land Before Time / If LBT was a democracy...

I don't who would win an actual election, if one were ever held in the LBT universe; but I do know that in my fanfics, there is a Great Valley Grand Council similar to a Town Council, with Little Foot as the "Mayor", and an elderly Topsy as one of the threehorn Councilors. Nobody is actually "elected" onto the Council. They are named by Little Foot. But they do vote on certain issues. I think that's about a close to a democracy as they're going to get.

I'm currently working on a story where I describe, in detail, some of that "politicking" stuff going on.  :smile Just look for the link in the fanfiction section when it's done.  :DD

But if I were to cast my vote, I'd vote for Little Foot.  :DD

I know that around Easter time, the presidential family opens up the White House lawn to do an Easter egg hunt for the kids.

I think it's the only time The White House grounds is open to the public!

The kid in this photo, though, doesn't seem to know too much about what's going on. Looks like he wants to run away, or something.  :lol

I wonder what's written on that macaroon he's wearing.

I also wonder if anybody's ever dressed up as any of the LBT characters at a furry convention. I do hope to make it to Anthrocon in Philly one year. Maybe next year will be the year!

I've been to Conifur in Seattle a few years ago, but I hear Anthrocon is a thousand times bigger.

Oh well...

*nods* I've been noticing some videos disspearing on Youtube as of late. I can understand that Universal Studios would want to have any downloads of the movies removed from there using the "trademark infringement" loophole. But I don't even download the clips to my hard drive(I haven't been able to figure out HOW, to begin with!). I just watch them, and put them into my favourites, if I like them enough.

*sighs* Oh, well, if renting it is the only way, I'll save it for a rainy off work day.  And when I'm not busy doing other stuff. :p

General Land Before Time / Ever been teased?

Some of the people I know are aware that I like dinosaurs and dragons, but they don't know that I have an interest in the LBT world.

Yet I am not "obsessed" about it! Though I appreciate the TV episodes and movies, and write fanfics about it, I have other interests, too! Like golfing, reading, classic rock, Knight Rider and Star Trek.

Though LBT was not a subject of teasing from my peers. I was teased for other reasons. Mostly because I'm different.  :cry
