People will probably set up their vcr's or tivos and record the sucker.  I don't think I've ever seen a company do that before.  Unless they're betting that people don't record it, and their kids like it, forcing them to actually go and buy it rather than hoping the kid knows there is a twelvth film out....

Maybe they say it's the movie, but they're actually premiering the TV series

As a Pokemon fan, I've known the Anime of Pokemon to do something like this.  Only days before the 7th Pokemon movie came out, it aired on TV.  As a result, it made more sales than any other Pokemon movie that was produced.

It is a little marketing idea that several movie companies make.  They air the movie on TV, in hopes of great response so that people will buy the real deal.  You see, LBT is well known, but when you talk to someone about it, they most likely think of the first movie and not the sequals.  Because of this problem, it might be a wise move for them to do this.

Also, the problem might be that Universal won't have it on store shelves in the US until after the TV Series airs.  As we know, there are a few charcters that appear in the TV Series that only appeared in LBT 12.  It would bring great confusion if they didn't find a way for the public to know of these charcters.  So, this could be the answer as to why they're doing this.

Speaking of the TV Series, I bet that there will be a commercial of some kind during LBT 12 to promote the first airing of the TV Series in the US.  This would be very much appreciated to see. :)

Anyways, this is what I think is going on.  What do you guys think?

It's probably something like that pokeplayer. If you think about it that's what happens in theaters. You go to the cinema to watch a movie, months later it's sold on DVD, and then if you liked it you buy it, it's basically the same thing, except you watch on TV and have the chance to tape it.

I really don't think it matters, even if a ton of people do tape it. Buying the actual movie on dvd is alot better than just recording it. Even if they record it with a blank dvd, there's still no match. And if somebody wanted the movie enough to record it, they would most likely go out and buy the real thing anyway.

I agree. Even if I were to watch, or even tape the 12th movie, I would still buy the dvd; the quality will likely be higher, there are (usually crappy) bonus features, and there is better subtitling (this is useful if I want to play a dvd with low volume.)

I would got the DVD any how, it goes to my collection of LBT dvds so I wouldn't have it any other way :). Nothing beats a good DVD, you can return to it anytime you wish on a laptop, DVD player or even a PC. I even been watching some DVDs that once I saw once only but gone back to watch them again :).

When you guys buy it, you might want to make sure you shop at walmart.  They have an exclusive goody: a bonus disk with 2 episodes of the tv series.

Walmart Pre-order

I know this is where I'm shopping.

US Release date confirmed!

It comes out Feb. 27th.  I got the information from a commerical when I was watching TV earlier this morning.  So for everyone in the US, that is the official date. :)

Besides wikipedia, where does it say that the 12th movie will be shown at 9:00 a.m. on cartoon network on the 25th of February? I checked the cartoon network website, and it said nothing of the land before time being shown at that time and date.

The TV Guide website is what I used for confirmation.

I have checked my own TV guide at Excite.com and I can confirm the dates too. Cartoon Network will be airing the movie on the 25th at 9 AM Eastern Time and on the 27th at 10 AM Eastern Time.

I saw the commercial for the movie on Cartoon Network this morning around 9:00 a.m. this morning.  Only 4 more days until the 12th movie hits the states.

Have you seen what they did on cartoon network? They AREN'T showing it today; I checked it at 9:00 a.m., and they're showing some #$%! scooby-doo movie instead. And, according to their scheduale, that's what they planned to do all along, and they aren't planning to show the 12th movie again on Tuesday either. TV guide and those other sites somehow were wrong.

I know :cry I woke up super early to get ready to watch it, and on comes scooby-doo...

And now they're not showing it Tuesday either?

That's what the cartoon network website says. They are, however, showing some other LBT movies, but we have already seen them before.

The guide on my TV for Digital Cable still said "Land Before Time 12" even though Scooby was on in the morning instead. Clint and I think that one of 3 things happened:

1. There was an error in the tv listings. Someone put in LBT12 instead of Scooby Doo.
2. They lost the tape that had LBT12 on it and had to air another movie instead.
3. They got a tape mix-up and grabbed the wrong tape by mistake, playing Scooby instead of LBT.

No. It didn't air at all. I was a bit surprised, but not too much because I've seen it happen before.
