I found out about this 5 days ago.  Microsoft is taking so much heat from the failure of windows vista that they've begun programming a new operating system! :D I'm glad to be skipping windows vista.  It just had so many problems!  They still plan to come out with a second service pack, but they're trashing it ASAP.  I also hear that they're developing a third service pack for windows xp.  Windows code name "Seven" is going to be full throttle in the year of 2009.  Now this information is "unofficial" and has no support whatsoever from microsoft, but it is true.  Several workers at microsoft weren't able to contain their joy that they're scrapping vista.  The name currently chosen for the next operating system is "windows Vienna".  Sounds pretty dumb, but anythings better than vista.  Windows Vienna is supposed to have a totally new graphical user interface and voice activated computer control.  It is said that they are trying to eliminate the mouse and keyboard alltogether and have voice commands combined with manual override control via a touch screen.  This new operating system is going to be more dependant on the internet than ever before.  The company is working to make Windows operating systems to allow users to have access to their files, regardless of the PC they are using.

QUOTE:

With the announcement of Windows Vienna, it will be interesting to see how customers react to Windows Vista. This operating system requires major upgrade for the PC and the response in the market is not what Microsoft had hoped for

I wonder how adding more features is supposed to allow users to keep their older computers without having to do major upgrades?

I mainly don't want to need 2gb of ram just for the start button to come up when I click it! I hate vista.

Vista is bad, but what if Vienna is "Worser than this there ain't?" XP doesn't seem all that different from Windows 95 to me, but the new operating systems have been changing dramatically, too fast for my liking.

Microsoft made a major mistake with vista.  It's making everyone upgrade and everyone's refusing.  They can either spend billions trying to force us to upgrade, or millions creating an operating system that's to our liking.  Which one would you choose?

I just looked into this myself. They are not working on Vienna simply because of Vista's so-called "failure", but because Vista is out and they decided to focus on the next OS. I have not heard one mention of Microsoft working on Vienna because of Vista's "failure".

No offense, but if there's no "support from Microsoft", no official word, then there's no way you can be certain that this information is 100% true.

many microsoft workers have told reporters this.  Besides, I have a reletive that works at microsoft and the information has been confirmed.  Weather or not microsoft will pubicly admit it or not, it is creating vienna because everyone's unhappy with vista.

Whatever you say. Until I hear official word, I refuse to believe any of this.

You will never hear official word.  Microsoft would never admit to making a mistake unless it gained them something and admitting mistakes rarely gets anyone anthing.

I'm not really excited about Windows Vienna to be honest.

Neither am I. And the statement "anythings better than vista" sounds biased to me. Vienna may be at least twice as worse for all I know.

It's obviously going to require less resources than vista did.  That's a plus at least. ;)

Naw.  Microsoft learned its lesson with vista and paid in cash.  That'll teach 'em.

I agree. There's no way to know if Vienna will be any better than Vista.

There is no way they'd make the next OS any worse.  The only bad thing about vista is how many resources it requires.  It is a great OS, but it's not worth it if it uses so much.

As I said, there's no way to know how well Vienna will do. No use getting hopes up.

OBVIOUSLY? It sounds like to me it will require even more resources. I've certainly heard nothing to make me think that it will require less.

Well, if it uses more resources than vista did, Gates had better be prepared to pay big time cuz he's not gonna make any money off of most people.

Voice command and all that extra crap?  Naw.  That might need 500-600mhz, not the 2,400mhz vista needs!

Just search online for "windows code name seven".  Some bullcrap will come up, but you'll eventually find some truth.  Everything that wiki says is true (for once), but it is rather vague.  Go find a PC forum or something.

I'm not saying Windows Vienna is not true. I have found some info on it. However I am not going to believe that it is to be the total replacement of Vista.
