I've used windows 3.1 before on many occations.  When I was 5, I used to screw around on the neighbors old computer they gave me.  It was fun playing that old game of solitare. :P: So, has anyone else used this legendary software?  It was the step from DOS to windows.  If it weren't for windows 3.1, the internet wouldn't be here right now and we'd all be typing stuff into command lines instead of having awesome graphical user interfaces such as windows xp.

While I have not used 3.1, I have used 3.11.  Not sure if that counts and I don't know the difference.

The first was DOS 2.11, then DOS 3.11.  Then Windows 3.11.  It was quite a change and I much proffered it over dos 3.11.

I've used it very recently actually, on an old laptop I've had since my college days.

The first computer I've ever had didn't use Windows, but a program almost similar, using icons to access certain programs

forgot what it was called.. I was so young.. but ahh.. the memories

I remember the command lines.   Having to enter every command and it had to be correctly spelled.

Actually, it went all the way up to ms dos 6 before windows 3.1 came out.  You may have had a computer with dos 2, but dos 6 was available.

I've used a Windows 3.1 computer before, but only for the Symantec Game Pack. :P:

I had DOS 2.11 and 3.11.  Didn't see the need to get the later Dos's and they were pretty expensive.  I got Windows 3.11 at a used hard and software place a bit after windows 95 came out, for pretty cheap.  I still have the disks of windows 3.11

No I haven't. Throughout most of my early childhood, only my dad was permitted to use the computer, and he had a very old macintosh computer (one of the very first home models of it) with a black and white screen (possibly with some green). It was not until I was around 11, 12, or 13 that we got a computer for the family. A Packard Bell that had Windows 95. This is the earliest model of Windows we used. We never had anything earlier.

I used Windows 3.1 a long time ago and can't really remember much about it.

Windows 3.1 is fairly barbaric compared to Windows 95 (and certainly later versions). However, 3.1 seems civilized compared to the even more barbaric DOS.

I think you get 8 (or less) colors like that. Sim City for the SNES offers a LOT more.
