Emilena - What if you weren't able to find Nairda again? Would you actually miss him?

Emilena: I truly wish he had drowned. What an obnoxious ingrate. Easily the least reliable and worthless member of my gang, Rio has filled a role significantly better than Nairda ever did.

Quote from: Serris,Aug 1 2014 on  10:02 PM
Lily, what's your plan on Voltaic Station?

Lily: I don't know, I don't know what's going on. I just killed three people. All the healing, all the good I've tried to do won't change that. Am I truly any better than the ones we're fighting if I'm just going to murder people with cancer, probably the worst way to die?

------------------------------------

Soren: Is that "smartphone-hijacking" app legal? Where'd you get that?

Marita: Have you ever killed anyone? Do you have any advice for Rose?

Triste: What's your greatest fear?

Soren: Nope. It's normally sold only to police agencies but I was able to finagle it out of an Augment cop back in Lanthae who wanted some upgrades.

----------

Emilena, do you miss Lanthae?

Axel, same question. Do you miss Lanthae?

Marie, Rose and Marita, same question as above. Do y'all miss Lanthae?

Marita: No, I have not killed anyone before, but I highly suspect that will change in the near future. All I can do for Rose is to comfort her and tell her that she was protecting herself and the rest of us, and that guy would likely have shot us if she had not shot him. as For missing Lanthae, no, not in the slightest. I do miss Corona though.

Rose: I still cant believe I shot and killed that guy, it's going to take awhile before I'm fully at peace with what I did. as for missing Lanthae, no. I don't miss the Black Sheep, I don't miss being in the grips of biproxytol and I don't miss having to show my goods to all and sundry for 10 credits an hour. Lanthae represents nothing but bad memories and degradation.

Marie: Not in the slightest, the place was a dump where you could get jumped because you had 5 credits in your pocket. I dont miss it at all.

Axel, do you plan on doing drugs again or no?
Axel: Ah... no. No, I don't think so. I mean, both times I've done them, I've either ended up arrested and dressed up as a pirate, or in a med-bay at an underwater hotel. I think I'll leave the drugs to the tough guys. Ah, not that I'm not tough! Yeah...

Quote
Triste: What's your greatest fear?
Triste: My greatest fear... I'd say it'd probably be growing older and losing the capabilities to take care of myself. Whenever I see an aged person needing help to walk, or feed themselves, or forgetting where they left their goddamn car keys... Christ, it's a fate worse than death. People in my line of work normally don't live long enough for that to be a problem, and I suppose that's a comfort, but the thought that maybe that could be me someday? It really troubles me.

Quote
Axel, same question. Do you miss Lanthae?
Axel: You know, in a weird way... yeah. I kind of do. I mean, sure, the city was a dump. And if you wen out late at night to buy something you'd probably be mugged or, you know... worse before you could take 10 steps. And it had a weird smell. But it had been my home for 21 years. It's where I grew up, where I went to school. Ah... not that I really had many friends at school, but still. Those were pretty good times. If only the Purifiers didn't have to go and screw everything up.

Emilena - What's your greatest fear?

Emilena, do you miss Lanthae?

Emilena: A lot. The people there were survivors, because the alternative was being dead. The criminals and the police were in an all-out war where anything went, and I got to commit actions in the name of justice that would probably get me locked up in Corona. Whole city of spineless sheep, it's disgusting.

Quote from: bushwacked,Aug 20 2014 on  01:49 PM
Emilena - What's your greatest fear?

Emilena: Thanks to an incident from my childhood I'd mentally blocked out until recently, I've always felt extremely discomforted around birds and heights. Luckily my job description hasn't required much contact with either of those.

Aurora: Oh, you are going to love this next part in-story...

Nairda: You can talk?!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marie, how much would a complete stranger have to pay to get you to strip and dance for them?

Soren, what do you think death is, as a concept? What happens afterward?

Marita, in what order do you hope you, Rose, and Marie die? Even of natural causes years from now?

Axel, have you and Lily been using her powers to any effect during your marriage?

Marie; Even though I worked at a strip club, i was not a stripper. I saw how bad the girls were paid and how little money it took to rob them of their clothes and self-respect. so the answer is, I wouldn't do it, for any price. The only ones I'm showing these assets to, are those whom I am in a committed relationship with.

Marita:Well, We are going to die, being mortal, but as for who goes first in passing? Well if I went first I would hope I will have set aside enough for Rose and Marie to live on, and that there would be no regrets on my part or theirs. Ideally we would all die of very old age, and  close together so that we are reunited in eternity, the order really doesn't matter.

Axel, have you and Lily been using her powers to any effect during your marriage?
Axel: Well, I don't really like using her powers to heal myself if I ever get hurt. I mean, I know whatever gets transferred onto her goes away pretty quickly, but she's been through so much pain already that I don't want to cause her any more, even for a small moment.

But, ah... well, there's this neighbour, Ms. Kercher, who keeps coming around for dinner. Nice lady, but... holy crap, she can keep talking, and talking. And talking. You get the picture. Even when dinner's done, finished, she won't... you know, leave. She'll just keep going on about her new glasses, or the brand of window cleaner she uses. One day, Lily found that when she touched her, she could actually force our neighbour to start getting sleepy, thus purging her from our house - if there's one thing Ms. Kercher likes more than window cleaner, it's beauty sleep. I have no idea how Lily does it... ah, something about changing chemical levels in the brain?

Oh, and there is that one thing Lily does to make things more exciting when we... ah. Actually, maybe I'll stop right there.

Flora - Have you ever been in a serious relationship with somebody? If not, is it because of your... extra parts? Or just because that's not something you're looking for?

Flora: I haven't exactly lived a lifestyle that would inspire anyone to ride along. I've always loved cars. When I was young I used to sit by the freeway, watch them drive past me and wonder about how they worked and how people got them. But I was always too poor to get one myself, so I stole them. The cops couldn't catch me because I never did it for the money...I'd just break into a random car, drive it as far as I could in no particular direction until it ran out of gas, then I'd steal another. The first two people I ever really got to know was this mangy fox couple that needed to hitchhike into Cornova. That was how I met Emilena and Nairda!

Marita, Rose, and Marie: If you could each ask one other character a question and get an honest answer guaranteed, what question would you each ask, and to whom?

Rose: my question would be to Marita: why did you come back for me?. I was busted for drugs, ended up selling my dignity and body for credits at a dumpy joint, we had to  break off our relationship because i was so doped up i would spend days not doing anything of importance. heck that fox confiscated all my possessions when she busted me ' including a 'intimate tape ' we made together after i suggested it to you. i've banged i dont know how many guys, and more than a few girls, just to scrape together a living.

Marita: Because you were my girlfriend, and you meant a lot to me. It was heartbreaking when I found out how far you had fallen.Course, Rescuing you was not entirely my doing, as that very same fox, held, um,'certain evidence' over my head as a means to get my assistance  on a police case. if I didnt cooperate, well  we'd likely both have spent long years in  Lanthae Federal Prison, wasting away in 8 by 12 cells with just a cot, with barred windows and maybe  a wall poster to look at. So I cooperated, and flushed you out of there. and in the Process we ran into Marie. truthfully I thought she was cute the moment she served me a drink, but I was there on business, not pleasure. You've shown a lot of inner strength since then Rose. Going through Biproxytol Detox is not easy, not cheap, and its easy to relapse, the drug is that addictive. The Fact you and I survived the spiked drinks, and you didnt try to find some biproxytol afterwards shows your resiliency .  A lot of folks would have given in after such an experience , and would have gone straight back to shoveling the stuff up their nose or injecting it into their arms. But you didnt, and I;m proud of you. Mine would be to Marie; What drives you?

Marie;  Not an easy question to answer. Well perhaps the desire for something more. I've never really had jobs that would be considered great. Truth be told the Black Sheep was humiliating for everyone who worked there, except the owners who made money coming and going, whether it was skimping on the clothes, nickel and dimeing you on the paychecks, ignoring overtime laws, you name it. the casino pays me better but not great, the guys i deal to, aren't known for tipping well, and then there the odd attempt at  a movie-plot heist. I haven't seen my folks in years, they lived in a city called Gregorus, and sent me to Lanthae to live with a relative when i was very young, i think it was because they couldn't afford to take care of me. once i turned 18, i was sent out to make a living, did odd jobs here and there and ended up as a waitress at the Sheep. Thats where i met Rose and was her co-worker for, i think 2 years. if not for Maritas intervention, i think she would have continued to decline until she died either onstage or backstage from the drugs finally being too much. while I didn't intend at first to come along, with the Sheep destroyed and me now jobless, i decided to to tag along, with nothing better going on. i have since found a home  with Rose and Marita and I hope some day to reunite with my folks. My question is for Rose; How are you with Money?

Rose: I save every way I can. when i go out for pizza I always go to the Double Slices because they accept coupons, even slightly expired ones, and give you a free salad bar and refills. i try and scrimp and save everywhere I can, Unlike  someone in our household, who seems to think money is no object at all. i bet that if Marita was given a list at the  supermarket, she'd pay three times more for food than I would, since I always try to limit myself to the essentials and go for the things on sale. comes with the territory of living on just a few credits a week. i''m always looking for ways to save money, whether its turning down the temperature a few degrees, or putting the tv on a timer. and then there's the change in the street. i always pick them up,  I've got jars of them in my closet. never took the time to count through them, never had the time really.

Soren: Right now, I'm pretty pissed at Vergil and his friends for dumping us into this clusterfuck and almost getting Axel and myself killed.

As for being sociable. I can be an asshole but as long as you're not a raging cockmonger or a total dumbass, I'm not that bad.

And as for what comes after death...look, I'm not into this whole metaphysics. Leave that shit to the philosophers. I'm an engineer.

------------

Nairda, why did you think it was a good idea to stiff Doctor Jiang? How did you know he wasn't going to harvest your augments or organs and sell them when you stiffed him.

Axel, what would you do if you got your hands on whoever drugged you?

Axel: Uh... Well, the first thing I'd probably do is ask them why they did it. I mean... It couldn't have been Kalis' guys behind it. They'd have just killed us. So someone who just wanted to annoy us, delay us or laugh at us. I've got... Well, I've got no idea who that could be.

What would I actually do? I've got no idea. I know I'd be pissed. Whoever it was, my wife and friends could have died because of them.

Rose; Well the encounter with the Purifiers forced me to leave the city I grew up in, and hardened me against fanatics like them. In a sense I was caught up in their effort to destroy Lanthae, which cost countless lives and was a failure on their part. Still they are not the only lunatics out there, theres always some report or other about some new freak show. I just wish life was simpler at times. Before I didnt know they existed, or cared that they existed. Now, I do, and prison is too soft for them.

Marita: the Purifiers upended my life with their little scheme. I was just a regular girl one minute, the next I'm pulled into this vast clusterfrick  thanks  to a certain fox  - cough Emilena cough.  I've found that i despise fanatics of any stripe, those who believe its their way or the highway, and any  part i can play to see them stopped, i'll be glad to do it.

marie: Well the purifiers revealed themselves to be anarchists and nihilists, who'd rather destroy the world then rule over the ruins. i guess, much like the other girls, it forced me to realize that there is true evil in this world, and it has to be confronted. i was just an ordinary 9-5 worker  when my workplace gets destrotyed and i'm forced to tag along as we tried to stop the purifiers from taking over. well in one sense we did, in another we didnt as it took the city getting level to stop them, and we had to flee.

Nairda: If you mean the second time, I hardly had a choice; I was broke and unconscious when y'all brought me to him. And the first time wasn't my idea! Kojurro controlled the bank account during my training years, and he refused to pay for things on principle. He told me that Jiang was a pushover who would no doubt die in a few years when a robotic thyroid gland exploded on his operating table. Boy was he wrong; Jiang has proven to be one of the most ruthless, uncompromising and dangerous debt collectors I've ever encountered!

Emilena: No. If a member of my gang is going to turn their back on all of us and walk away selfishly, we're better off without them. We are a team and I expect the members to behave like teammates! Not to mention we all just risked our lives trying to find him and he decides he'd rather set us all up to get battered and drowned for his own sick amusement! I don't know what his problem is right now, but until he fixes it I want him as far away from my men as possible.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jiang: What have you been up to since you evacuated Lanthae? Why'd you even evacuate? Seems you had the opportunity to hold the Lanthae monopoly on augmented parts.

Triste: If you had to sacrifice one member of the team so the rest could live, who would you pick?

Axel, has your encounter with the Purifiers changed you?
Axel: Ah... yeah. Yeah, I guess it did. I mean, before... you know, everything happened, I'd never been in a fight or anything like that. Even thinking about violence made me feel kinda... queasy. But after I met Lily... after going through everything to get her back and keep her safe, I learned that I can't be that guy anymore. If I'm going to protect the ones I care about, I can't afford to take things lying down. I need to step up and do everything I can to make sure they're safe, even if it means getting my hands, ah... dirty. And even if it means getting knocked on my ass again and again.

That being said... I know I tried to hide it behind stupid jokes, but the stuff that happened six months ago, it... it really shook me up. Bad. For weeks afterwards, I'd start shaking out of nowhere, get nauseous... Shit, sometimes I couldn't sleep. The nightmares... The people I'd killed, the guy I'd sliced open... They were Purifiers, they were trying to kill us, they deserved it and it needed to be done. But... jesus, that doesn't mean I had to enjoy it. Even now it comes back to me sometimes. At least I'm lucky enough that Lily's always been there to help me.

Quote
Triste: If you had to sacrifice one member of the team so the rest could live, who would you pick?
Triste: Who to sacrifice? Well, that shouldn't be too hard to figure out - I just need to look at what each of them can contribute, and who's useful.

I'll get this out of the way with now - no, unless there's absolutely no alternative, I wouldn't sacrifice myself. I've always found living to be a crucial part of carrying out my mission. Vergil's obviously out of the question. Mr Almaya seems to be somewhat skilled with technology, as are Ms Jones and Mr Whent. And while I wouldn't be too confident in them covering me during a confrontation, they've shown that at least they can get the job done at a pinch. Ms North is an interesting one. Details of what happened to her shortly before the attack on Lanthae are... sketchy, to say the least. But whatever happened, it appears she's been left with an impressive ability. I saw what she did with that rough-looking woman's leg wound just after the Stracci boy's death. A healing ability like that could come in very useful.

As for the last two... The two women who appear to be Ms Jones' lovers. Rose and Marie. I can't think of any particular area they've excelled in, so it'd probably have to be one of them. I'm assuming that'd be a problem for Ms Jones, but maybe she'd be able to use her head. Which one would it be? Probably Rose. I don't like that colour.

--------------------------------------------

Lily - You seem like someone who can't stand violence. What would it take for you to really, truly want to hurt someone?

Soren - Were you affected at all by the incident with the Purifiers?

Doctor Jiang - I may be after creds but I have enough sense to know when to run. That's how Doctor Sun-Yi died; argued over a fee for security guard with the Hung Len Giao Fa triads. They found him ó or what was left of him ó in a vertical farm's catfish tank. The guy's a brilliant cyberneticist but other than that, he's a fan tung.

Right now, I'm in Corona and doing the same business. It's much harder owing to the stricter enforcement of Cy.D licensing and the fact that being an Lanthaeni is stigmatized. Right now, I'm actually considering opening a legit cybernetics clinic in Corona.

(OOC - Transliterations are very off but here's what the terms Doctor Jiang is saying mean:

"fan tung" is Cantonese for rice bucket. It's also a Cantonese slang that roughly means dumbass.

"Hung len giao fa" is Cantonese for "red lotus flower" or more loosely, "red lotus". "Len giao" is more commonly used to refer to the lotus root.)

-----------

Soren: Yeah, I kind of am. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I've began seeing nearly everyone I pass on the street as a potential Purifier ó and thinking how best to kill them right then and thera. And from what some of my other family members say, I seem to lose my temper a lot more often. There's also the fact that Anne's commenting that she sometimes hears cursing and screaming coming from my room.

Flora: Yes!

Lily: No...I don't want to think about it. I know I killed a lot of people when I was that monster back in Lanthae, but that wasn't me. My first self-aware murders were those guards in the Voltaic interrogation room, and I'll be praying for forgiveness for the rest of my life. But I also suspect that no matter how much I just want to heal people or leave them alone, I'll be forced to do much worse until this whole ordeal is over...

" Marita: I'm fine but I'm worried about Marie. Biproxytol takes a long time to really and truly work itself out of your system , and even residual amounts can have a very potent impact on those not used to them. we'll have to keep an eye on her for awhile.
