1988 Theatrical Release / Re: An Analysis of the Music
« on: December 17, 2020, 05:20:09 PM »
Sorry to resurrect an old forum post but Intrada (http://store.intrada.com/s.nl?it=A&id=12106) has reissued the Land Before Time soundtrack with additional tracks such as "Journey of the Dinosaurs” and "Separate Paths". I'm not sure if the music would cover any of the deleted scenes though.

1988 Theatrical Release / LBT char Model cels
« on: May 02, 2012, 07:19:27 PM »
Hey guys, i wasn't sure if it was alright to post a screenshot of an ebay item, but I was trawling through eBay and saw some LBT character sheets, specifically ducky and petrie character sheets, not sure if they are legit but for the price and look, they look it. Here’s the webpage:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-10-Model-Ce...204533149898904

And on a smaller note,  there's also a pic of littlefoot's walking cycle from an online magazine called Animator mag, I’ve been trying to find the original magazine where littlefoots walking cycle sheet is, but to know avail. Here’s the webpage:

http://www.animatormag.com/archive/issue-2...0/#.T6GrG1Kh2nA

and theirs also some useful production sketches from a website blog called:

Rather than post some 40 odd images, I've managed to scan it into low quality jpeg format, and I've posted it on megaupload. although I've haven't got the experience with photoshop to get rid of some of the felt tip marks with dot the various pages.

Is that stegosaurus a character?
Yeah but the stegosaurus has only a minor role in the book,  I'll have to post some pics sometime this week when I've got time. I'll try and clean up some of the images, as I bought a second hand library copy and it shows! lol.

I was searching for general books and reviews on the internet about the LBT when I came upon this:

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=25665

Scroll down to the part about the Land before time film and his book, according to William Stout, the Land before time storyline was heavily influenced by his children’s book. I’ve managed to find the book on eBay, and I would say that there are certain scenes in the book which may have been an influence on the film, but I wouldn’t say that the LBT film ripped of the book in terms of storyline apart from the fact that both main protagonists want to get back to their herd. I could post pictures of the children’s book, but I don’t know about the issue over copyright, I do know that it’s been out of print for a long time.

1988 Theatrical Release / Japanese picture booklet from the film
« on: November 25, 2010, 08:16:59 PM »
I've just managed to scan this Japanese 1988 movie booklet I got from eBay, in it there are several photos from the deleted scenes as well as another photo with the gang of five and don bluth together, again with different sized proportions compared to the last group picture that I scanned in from the "LBT article in the Animation Magazine" post.

1988 Theatrical Release / LBT article in the Animation Magazine
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:15:03 PM »

Its the lucasfilm fanclub official magazine #6 winter 1989.(although bizarrely enough the starwars.wikia entry on the mag has it at 1988) I managed to get the lucasfilm magazine from intergalactictrading website.

I wonder if there a colour photo somewhere of the black and white group photo on the animation magazine, as part of its in colour at the front cover.

I'm not sure if it is worth adding a new topic just for two pics from the lucasfilm fanclub magazine issue six so I'll just post them here instead:

I'm wondering if their any other magazines from 88 or 87 that talk about the production of lbt, or that show pics that where never in the film.

I managed to scan the 1988 Animation magazine article about the LBT, it was referenced on the http://www.cataroo.com/DBland.html website about the various production issues regarding LBT, so here's the scanned images:

1988 Theatrical Release / As good as this film is...

Has anyone ever liked the idea of the Great Valley being heaven and that everyone dies at the end?

I could seriously consider it for an alternative ending,( and one that would be considerable darker than the original), I would also would have considered another alternative ending, such as a bittersweet ending (not without sacrifices, for instance where petrie ( and I've got nothing against petrie here) appears to have died when he was dragged down with the sharptooth)

thanks guys, i'll try and post the rest of these here aswell (oh and I agree with Pangaea, i've spent far too much money and time bidding on these :lol )

i would have wanted the deleted scenes added and maybe some additional scenes to add more character development and conflict . i'd also would have liked it if they had rearranged parts of the film so that littlefoot finds the great valley first before going back to find his friends.

I managed to win these original production cels and drawing from Ebay (well I hope their original,  they certainly look it, and my hats off to anyone who's managed fake these cells if  they are indeed fake), so I've scanned them in for you all to have a look at, for size issues i've only done them in jpeg format for the moment. I'm also wondering how many members have managed to aquire production cels from the original movie over the years?

LBT Projects / LBT videogame
« on: January 19, 2008, 10:36:14 PM »
Hi its me again lol anyway I tried to change the dialog on the demo template of that adventure game studio, but I'm still having problems with the script code (I'm no good at it!) so I've just decided to let it be for now  :lol , so you'll still see the pins and the voodoo doll for the talking animation sequences  :lol  anyway here the talking sequences, the gif file not very good though.

oh and I've decided to put the littlefoot character that I've done up on rapidshare so that anyone with a more artistic talent can improve upon it if they want to.

http://rapidshare.com/files/85072796/Littl...racter.rar.html

Oh and just a thought, has anyone ever thought of using "Visionaire"adventure-creation-system program?

http://www.visionaire2d.net/index.php?newlang=english

Apparently you can make adventure games with it but without having to use any scripts to it, the only reason I decided to use that adventure game studio was because their is a lot more help files on it than their is for that visionaire program.

:lol  that just came with a ready made template, lol I wanted to use the monkey island kind of adventure game interface rather than what came with the demo in the adventure game studio, anyway it took me a couple of weeks (I'm quite picky, and also busy with my full time job aswell) to make it lol I needed to look at the LBT movies at see what kind of animation movements where needed (up,down, left, right, talking, etc), then trace/draw/modifiy lol about 8-10 still drawing to make the walking cycles. I've also done littlefoot talking but I'll have edit the mouth images aswell, their still a bit rough, I'll try and post that tomorrow.

lol its been more than a year since anyone's posted about developing a LBT video game, I was intrigued at the time about this and I thought about making some kind of adventure game in the style of clock tower where you run and hide and try and outsmart the enemy rather than fighting them, so I've been playing around bit in adventure game maker and I've been trying to create a littlefoot character, so far its a bit amateurish, as I'm terrible at drawing, the front and back views I had to draw/trace myself, whilst I admit of cheating a bit with the side views as I've copied them off the original LBT movie and modified them a little bit, you might not be able to see it very well as I've had to resize the gif image so that imagecave website would accept it, making it look pretty bitty in the process.(lol hopefully the image should appear unlike my last post lol) Anyway, I'm just asking had anyone made any progress with making their own LBT game or have produced any new storyline/ideas since the last post?

1988 Theatrical Release / Outcut land before time scenes
« on: January 11, 2008, 03:06:22 PM »
As far as I know this isn't from the movie, as I found and scanned this pic off that "friends in need" book, its when the gang of five encountered a green oasis where two dinosaur species. The thin grey-noses who where guarding the water against the fat crown heads, who where guarding the food (trees, vegetation), and who didn't want to share with each other. So Cera and the others decided to move on to find their own food and water because the two dino species didn't want to share with them.
