Silver Screen / Re: The My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic Thread

Ah, I wondered when this was happening; I saw a couple of posts about it months ago and assumed it was already out by now. Fingers crossed it's a goodie...

...yeah, I started watching the series a while back; an overseas friend begged me to watch it and I eventually did. Turns out someone at Hasbro's been spying on me, because Sunburst is basically just me in Pony form (in terms of looks, attire, personal interests, etc)...=p

Urgh, not looking forwards to this one, I'm afraid...Jurassic World was a huge disappointment for me because of how badly written it was, and I skipped Fallen Kingdom after seeing several early reviews that didn't look good (followed by a lengthy breakdown video that confirmed for me I would have hated it). It's kinda like how I feel about the Star Wars sequels; I have no love for this particular universe, no interest in the characters, and I'd prefer it to have just ended where it originally did. The original film is a masterpiece that still holds up, the second film is flawed, but not quite as bad as most people think, and the third...well, it's dumb, but not as dumb as the JW series got.

Ooh, I like the sound of that! I got into the series after seeing the first film (like, it wasn't great, but it wasn't AWFUL; just a fun little popcorn flick), fortunately discovering the entire series for sale at an op shop I was working at at the time for cheap and reading them all! Then I saw the second film, and...well, to this day I bring it up when talking with friends about the worst films I've ever see, because of just how many things it did WRONG.

...so yeah, it'll be nice to see it done right. Also looking forward to how they handle the other series; Alex Fierro is someone I'm super curious to see brought to life.

Perhaps Tippy was an attempt to make a transgender dinosaur, but then the writers backed out. That could explain the confusion over Tippy gender.

Hehe, I doubt that's what they were going for (I would assume it was a case of them designing the character before the voice actor got nailed down), but it would make for an interesting story concept, nonetheless. :)

I think there was one a loooong time ago, but I'm fine with seeing another one! :)
I'm pretty sure I owe my love for this series to the Land Before Time, IIRC...I have a memory of seeing the first book on the shelf at a library I was visiting and deciding to give it a chance because I'd just started rewatching the films, and after seeing those beautiful pictures I was sold!

Still working on building up my collection, though; got all the big picture books (and the impressive pop-up book!) and adult novels, but I don't have all of the young adult works...

Yeah, I know how you feel; I've been struggling ever since the change. At the moment, I'm keeping an eye on "Artri.se", which is being set up as a fan replacement. It's not ready yet, but there IS a group on DA for now...

I still need to read through a bunch of the old EU books at some point; plenty of my friends have insisted that Thrawn's story is the best of the series. Aside from that, my only real attachment to it was KOTOR I and II...I read some plot summaries for events that were set after the events of Episode VI, but I never really liked them that much and preferred to just think of the series as having ended with that. With the Disney sequel trilogy now out, I can safely say that opinion hasn't changed :p (although I did like Rogue One...well, the second half; the first act was a mess).

Interestingly, George Lucas actually had a similar approach to it all back before he sold the rights; he considered everything he worked on personally as being part of one timeline, and all the expanded universe materials as being part of their own separate timeline, with it being up to the fans to decide which one they personally preferred, which I think is a very sensible approach. Whether the series ended with VI, continued with the EU or with the Sequel Trilogy...it's up to you. :)

History Section / Kaiserreich - What If Germany Won WWI?
« on: June 02, 2020, 08:13:47 PM »
Thought it might be worth sharing this here, as it's eaten up a lot of my time in recent months and even led to me revamping an AH scenario I was helping out with! If you've not heard of it before, Kaiserreich is a mod for Hearts of Iron IV (a WWII simulator made by Paradox Interactive) which presents an alternative 1930s in a world where the Central Powers won the First World War, but a 'Second Weltkrieg' is looming on the horizon...

The point of divergence for this scenario is Germany deciding NOT to resume unregulated submarine warfare in the aftermath of the sinking of the Lusitania, so the United States stays out of the war, and the Central Powers are able to narrowly secure victory. Each member secures some land from their neighbours, but Germany fares best of all, taking control of many British and French colonies in Africa and Asia, and setting up several client Kingdoms in Europe.

That's not the only thing that changes, though...in Russia, Vladimir Lenin is shot and killed, and the Communist Revolution fails, with Russia re-establishing itself as a republic. With Communism seemingly discredited as a viable ideology, alternative movements that stalled in our timeline come to the forefront, such as Syndicalism (a sort of compromise between Capitalism and Communism where EVERYTHING is run by unions), and revolutions take place in the bulk of the losing nations, with Italy collapsing into multiple rival states and the British and French governments fleeing to their colonies in Canada and West Africa, where they prepare to one day take back their homeland...

So, as 1936 dawns, and Germany's hold of the world weakens with a massive stock market crash, the world slides closer to war...the allied Syndicalist states of the Third Internationale seek to crush Germany (as does a resurgent Russia), while elsewhere in the world, the United States draws closer to a vicious civil war, and Japan prepares to invade a China that remains divided between warlords...and incidentally, part of what makes this game so interesting is that there isn't any single guaranteed outcome; just about every state in the world has multiple paths that change their political ideologies and give them new tasks (Russia, for instance, can stay a republic, become Syndicalist, restore the Empire and invite a Tsar to rule, or fall to 'National Populism' (this timeline's equivalent of Fascism) under the leadership of the Russian equivalent of Hitler)...

If you're curious, check it out! There are plenty of YouTube videos about it online, and there's a Wiki, Reddit and a TvTropes page for it as well!

Given that the later films made the Mysterious Beyond much more fertile than it originally seemed (seriously, compare the desolate and barren landscapes seen in films 2-5 with the lush terrain we see in 9 en route to Big Water), I think it's fair to assume that this is not the ONLY safe place left in this part of the world, just one of the biggest. I always liked to think that the locations from the first film were affected by the same overall ecological changes that affected the Land of Mists, and the residents all opted to head west and seek better lands, based on stories of 'the Great Valley' picked up from nomadic dinosaurs who'd been there before (6 indicates that Grandpa Longneck either lived in or knew of the Great Valley when he was younger, since the story of the Lone Dinosaur takes place in a smaller valley right NEXT to the Great Valley)...

General Land Before Time / Re: Land Before Time Video Game ideas.
« on: June 01, 2020, 03:37:43 AM »
I'd personally love some sort of cross between a platformer and an adventure game...like, you'd start out in the Great Valley and you'd have free roam of most of it, with a bunch of characters from the films waiting around in areas to give you random minigame quests like in one of the earlier Spyro games (for instance, race against Cera to knock down as many treestars as possible before a timer runs out), but there'd also be one character you could interact with to advance the plot, and this would unlock new areas of the map and give you new tasks/minigames, and so by the end you'd have resolved whatever the overarching story was, but unlocked a giant sandbox stretching from "Big Water" to the environs of the first film that you'd be free to run around in. It could also be interesting if you could switch between characters, with them all having different abilities that they can use to get past obstacles and the like...

Seems like this would be the ideal mixture of elements to me...an overarching new story to get invested in, minigames for timewasting fun when not doing the main story, and at the end a huge world to play in and use for screenshots for RPGs and the like! :)

<blows dust off account> Whoa, this old thing still works. That was a nice little surprise...

Welp, it's been a loooong while since I posted anything here, but after seeing that Jenny Nicholson review I felt the urge to jump back on quickly to post some of my thoughts on the films. Time to quickly pilfer from a ten year old post of mine! :)

Hmm...Of all the sequels, the one I saw the most as a kid was 4 (only had that one and the original film), and I thought it was awesome for giving Littlefoot a love interest. I know I saw 2 at some point, because I had vague memories of a sharptooth baby.

Then, when LBT 7 came out, they ran an advert for it in a kids magazine I was reading at the time, and I honestly went "Seven? There's seven of these films?". So over the next few days, I went to the video store and borrowed the ones I hadn't seen. 2 I liked, 3 annoyed me (bullies), 5 was great, 6 I got bored watching for some reason. I remember watching 7 and loving it.

The next year 8 came out. This was the last one I saw for a while, because I rented that and thought it was bad. When 9 came out I had stopped caring (I remember perhaps one advert, but aside from that nothing). By the time 10 came out, the adverts were everywhere and I noticed them, but I was also starting to pay attention again because I'd heard on the imdb forums that Littlefoot's father was in this one.

I didn't see it, but when 11 came out on DVD, my dad bought it because it included the first movie with it. I saw it, and thought it simple kids fare (although I despised that Girls and Dads song...that note at the end just sounds off to me). After a while, I wanted to see the films again and catch up, plus I hated the idea of only having "Part 11" on the DVD shelf, so I started tracking down the films from the stores. I got 5, 6 and 10 first, and despite my memories, this time I preferred 6 to 5. 10 was alright, but Littlefoot's voice actor annoyed me so much that I rarely watched this one afterwards.

I think I got the three-pack next, with the first two sequels (I liked 3 better this time). Dad tracked down 12 for me (and I thought it was actually pretty good) and I got 4, 7, 8 & 9 at a Christmas sale. 4 wasn't as good as I remembered, 7 was still great, I liked 8 better this time (although I didn't think Ducky's voice actor sounded right anymore), and 9 was ok. Finally, my Dad found 13 for me. I actually didn't find it that bad (probably because my method of watching these films is to muck around on my computer with the movie playing in the background).

Out of memory, I'd say 5 & 6 are my faves, followed by 7, 12, 2, 3, 8, 4, 9, 13, 11 & 10. I certainly agree with Dino-doug about the animation, I love the way the newer films look.

EDIT: Although, now that I think about it, one thing annoyed me about the DVD for 12; the unskippable adverts at the beginning. When I got it, I sat down to watch the film, and was greeted with 5 minutes of unskippable (although thankfully fast-forwardable) adverts for Barbie. At the time I went "Barbie?! LBT isn't a girls-only franchise!?"

I really should watch some of these films again to see if my opinions on them still hold up...I tended to rank them more on the quality of the songs and the voice acting than the story and visuals, because at that point in time I was using the films to provide ambient noises (as well as a nostalgia buzz, of course) while I was playing games on a nearby computer, but a few of them are on there because I liked the ideas they were playing with.

Anyhoo, let's work backwards up that list, leaving off 14 because I barely remember the film (well, I liked Reba McIntyre's song in 14, but that and Littlefoot's grandmother nearly dying (and the replacement voices for Grandpa Longneck and Daddy Topps not sounding the same at all) are pretty much all I remember). 10's at the bottom mostly because, as I noted above, I couldn't stand Littlefoot's voice actor (his voice was much higher and squeakier than before and it was jarring, plus they re-used his nightmare scream in a later scene and that laziness killed any immersion)...plus it felt like he was oddly juvenile here compared to other installments.

11 and 13...well, these are some of the films I rewatched the least out of them all, so I can't remember exactly what put me off about them. I guess both stories were kind of dumb, and 10 just got ranked lower because of the voice acting issue. 9 is one I don't remember disliking, but I think it never quite appealed to me the same way it did other people on this message board.

I must say I'm surprised at the next ranking, though; 8 better than 4? I mean, I remembered 4 not being as impressive as I thought years later (let's be honest, we all liked it because of Ali, and the hint that she would be important in Littlefoot's future), but 8 was a film I really didn't like when I first saw it (although I mellowed towards it upon rewatching) and which I didn't like the music from at all, so it must have done something right to get that far!

2 and 3 next makes sense; 2 naturally pales before the original, but it's still a sweet and whimsical little film...a nice epilogue with a far less taxing adventure for our protagonists, plus I have a soft spot for the music in this one. 3 not so much, but I'm guessing there was something I liked about it the last time I watched it.

Now we get into the top ranking films, and these ones are fresher in my memory as a result. 12 was a favourite of mine for a while because I liked all of the songs as well as Guido as a character, plus I remember thinking some of the dialogue was pretty well-written. 7...okay, this one was probably there for nostalgia; the animation in that one is a bit choppy considering it's the transition point between the older hand-drawn style and the digital animation, plus the villain song is the only really good one in it, but the worldbuilding was interesting (insight into what the adults were doing during the events of the first film) and Pterano was a compelling antagonist of sorts. 5 and 6 took the top spots overall, but I'm trying to remember exactly why. I mean, both films have some really good songs in them (ignoring the screechy chorus of Always There, the bit where Littlefoot sadly sings about his mother is very powerful), but I'm not sure I'd call these stories the best of the series. Still, something about them was soothing; something I could put on and lose myself in in a way that the other films didn't quite make me do.

...I probably will need to watch them all again and see what I think.

I think it's an acceptable choice of word; think of everything they're saying as a translation of sorts. "Heart" might just be the direct translation of a dinosaur concept that roughly corresponds to that word in English.

True, but what about LF finding the valley? I seem to remember them referring to it as they did it in the cut version.

I think he means the original ending that's intact on the soundtrack and in the novels, where Littlefoot finds the Great Valley shortly after Cera splits the group, only to return and save the others. This, certainly, can't be considered canon any more, since it would contradict the ending as it was released. Everything else that got cut can easily fit into the film though...Sharptooth's damaged eye, Cera's racism towards Spike when he hatches, the meeting with the "Crown-Heads"...just cause we didn't see it on screen doesn't mean it didn't happen.

The only way the original ending would ever become canon would be if someone made a "Director's Cut" special edition of the film that included a properly animated version of the scene. Course, as has been said many times before, the scenes don't exist anymore, so somebody would have to animate them from scratch!

To go back to your original question though, I don't think the sequels have been affected much by the cuts to the film...any character development that would have been obtained during those scenes still got resolved in some way anyway. For instance, Cera's big scene where she would have ditched her racist attitudes once and for all (in the scene with the Crown-Heads) got cut, yet she still loses this over the course of the film, and this carries over into the sequels. If anything, the sequels have been affected by the sequels...Cera's mother and siblings not appearing in the second film, and then becoming non-existent after the third film?

Quote
The new staff that was working on the sequels might not have known about these scenes. In short, the cut version is canon. It's like that Disney movie where the protagonist mentioned fighting a giant squid, but the scene was deleted. This is, however, the opposite.

That would be "The Goonies", I believe! Great film!

The Written Word / Spyro - Analysis, Elements & Merging Series
« on: September 23, 2013, 05:08:39 AM »
Rediscovered this thread by accident, and remembered that I wrote a follow-up to all this that largely looks at how "Skylanders" could fit with the earlier games in the series - and also readdresses some parts of the initial document that were written before Skylanders actually came out.

==================================================

1.6 SKYLANDERS REVISITED
First of all, let's go over what we know about the characters of Spyro - or Skyro, as he is occasionally called by fans to differentiate him from the previous two incarnations - as he appears in Skylanders. What is known about this new Spyro? Despite being a wholly new character, his backstory contains elements of both of the series that predate Skylanders.
Spyro is said to be from a line of rare purple dragons - as in the Legend of Spyro series - and is stated as having been a hero from a young age; having gone on many adventures as a result - alluding to the Original Spyro games. This work eventually caught the eye of Master Eon, who transported Spyro to the Skylands to get him to join the forces with the Skylanders. At some point following this, Spyro eventually defeated Cynder and freed her from the control of Malefor; the Undead Dragon King - a reference to the plot of the first game in the Legend of Spyro series.
So what do we make of this? Despite the many links this backstory creates with the previous two series, "Skyro" cannot really be thought of as the same dragon from either of those series without creating massive inconsistencies across games - in addition to this, the backstory states he's one of many purple dragons, which should rule both of the other two out. However, as I suggested previously, he can be thought of as a descendant of both dragons. To properly reconcile the earlier two series with Skylanders, some more information needs to be looked at.

1.61 APPEARANCES
Let's first consider the physical appearance of Spyro and Cynder; specifically, how they differ from designs in the previous two series. It's worth noting that countless characters have had their appearances changed between games, for example; the appearances of the Elders from the earlier Spyro games are drastically revamped for Spyro: A Hero's Tail, and perhaps somewhat infamously, Spyro and Cynder change in many ways between The Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon; Cynder even changing colours slightly - although this is often thought of as being the cause of bad lighting. Basically, this sort of change is nothing new, and the altered appearance of the dragon characters in Skylanders could be seen as being a minor retcon; an extension of the changes that come with graphical advances across games.
Alternatively, it could be the result of evolution. In my original essay, I suggested the possibility that the five dragon types described in the first Spyro game - Artisans, Peace Keepers, Magic Crafters, Beast Makers and Dream Weavers - were "breeds" that had evolved following the shift from the Forgotten Realms; although it's worth noting that the "breeds" could have existed prior to the shift, made up of dragons who adjusted to certain areas of the world over time.
In any case, Spyro and Cynder's appearances could be explained as them being an entirely new breed that developed in another area of the world over time. Interestingly, one of the background stories for Skylanders states that Spyro lived in Summer Forest in Avalar before coming to the Skylands; as mentioned in my previous essay, no dragons dwelled in Avalar during the Original Series. Thus, it could be that the Spyro of the original series eventually settled down there at some point, and started a line of dragons that would eventually evolve over time into these new dragons.
It's also worth noting that their changed appearance could potentially be the result of interspecial breeding. In the original series, two dragons; Spyro himself and Ember, are shown as potentially beginning relationships with non-dragons; Spyro with Elora the Faun and Ember with Bandit the Armadillo. In the former case, Spyro reportedly "missed his chance" with Elora, but Ember and Bandit remained committed to one another during the events of Shadow Legacy. At no point do the games or the characters within them suggest that an interspecies relationship such as this should be impossible, although it should be clear to anybody that physically this shouldn't be possible, at least when considering having children.
So how would this barrier be passed? Simple; with fairy magic. As mentioned in the previous essay, fairies aid in bringing new dragon eggs to the Dragon Realms. Although I suggested that this role was merely for show - without a need for reproduction dragons would lack genders - it could be that in some cases a fairy uses magic to create a child for two lovers of different species. In fact, Skylanders itself confirms that some sort of action along these lines must occur, as the character Whirlwind is said to be an air dragon with unicorn ancestry. As such, it could be that Spyro and Cynder's distinct look in Skylanders is the result of their ancestors being made up of both dragons from the Dragon Realms and other creatures from Avalar - the fact that the other Skylander dragons also share this look suggests they share a link with the Dragon Realms, but that will be discussed in the next section.
It should also be noted that Spyro and Cynder are still juvenile dragons; we don't know whether their appearances will change over time to something resembling the dragons of old - certainly the adult dragon Ramses bears a closer resemblance to the dragons of the previous two series - or whether they could even gain the ability to walk on their hind legs, as in the original series - something that was only ever done by the adult dragon characters, suggesting the skill was something that either developed with age or was only possible when the body was a certain size, shape or weight.

1.62 MALEFOR AND THE SKYLANDS
Next, let's discuss the character Malefor, because due to his role in Spyro and Cynder's stories in Skylanders, he is central to bridging the gap between the different series.
In the Legend of Spyro series, he was said to be the first of the purple dragons - although he disputed this fact - and eventually fell from grace; seeking to destroy the world - the exact reasons for this remain unknown, but, as suggested in my previous essay, it could be that he wished to destroy the world so that it could be cleansed and rebuilt - but failed to do so; instead becoming imprisoned in two places; in the realm known as Convexity, and in the Well of Souls. Although he was eventually freed from this prison over the course of the Legend of Spyro series, at the conclusion he was trapped in a crystal in the centre of the world by a number of dragon spirits.
In Skylanders, Malefor is said to be the "Undead Dragon King". It can easily be suggested that this is the same Malefor, many, many, years after his defeat. As stated by Ignitus' shade shortly after the defeat of Malefor, "when a dragon dies, he does not truly leave this world. His spirit lives on, binding itself with nature, offering hope for the future."
Despite the nature of his defeat, it would seem this applies to Malefor as well; although he remains confined to the centre of the world - as confirmed in Hex's backstory - evidently his influence is strong enough to impact the world, as he clearly has been able to manifest himself in a way that allowed him to raise a new army and corrupt another dragonet following his imprisonment.
What of his title as "Undead Dragon King"? This could have originated in many different ways; whether he gave himself the title or whether it was bestowed upon him is not known. Hints to its origins hinge on the phrasing of the word; whether Malefor is the King of Undead Dragons, which would imply a more mythical position - perhaps if, as the title suggests, the "Legend of Spyro" became a story that was passed down through the generations, and Malefor became equated with a boogeyman or demon - or if he is an Undead Dragon who calls himself King; certainly, Malefor had the power to turn the apes into shades in the final Legend of Spyro game, and the Cynder of Skylanders gained undead powers after being corrupted by him. The latter is probably the more likely -these powers perhaps being linked to his new mode of imprisonment, or it could just be that his old powers aren't much use below ground - considering how Hex is said to have become undead after travelling to his "underworld" - the existence of which suggests that Malefor has some degree of power below ground, but not above, and thus he focuses on forming an army out of the dead and buried creatures that would make it down to his level.
The next question surrounding his title is when did it become widespread? If it didn't come into use during the length of time he attempted to conquer the Skylands in, this would suggest that Malefor attempted to conquer the Dragon Realms yet again inbetween the Legend of Spyro series and the Skylanders series. This could potentially suggest a link to the Sorceror of the original Spyro series; another purple dragon who attempted global conquest. Unfortunately, his exact backstory and motivations were never made clear due to the end of the original Spyro series after Spyro: Shadow Legacy, but it could be suggested that he was either Malefor in a new body, or another dragon under Malefor's control - although this could seem somewhat odd, considering Red was also under the Sorceror's control; unless of course this was an intentional part of the plan.
Before discussing Malefor's plans for conquest, let's bring Cynder into the mix. Like her previous incarnation in the Legend of Spyro, Malefor needs her to act as his avatar in the world, as he cannot manifest physically - in addition to this, it's worth remembering that Cynder accomplished much for Malefor while she was under his control. It's not made clear why he chose a dragonet both times, but it could be that he was intending to capture Spyro's egg both times round, but ended up with the wrong egg each time. Alternatively, a dragonet could be easier to influence than an adult dragon.
What of the name Cynder? Rather than being a massive - and unlikely - coincidence, it's likely that Malefor intentionally chose the name again for one of many reasons;

*Malefor was attempting to spite the memory of the deceased Spyro and Cynder - or perhaps even the Legend itself - by naming the hatchling after the original Cynder.
*Malefor was amused by the captured hatchling's resemblance to the original Cynder - or perhaps the similar circumstances of her capture - and decided to bestow the same name upon her.
*The name Cynder held some unknown significance to Malefor, and thus he gave that name to the captured hatchling.

Confusingly, Cynder appears to be purple, yet isn't considered a purple dragon; instead having electric and undead powers - the latter of which is easily recognisable as being a leftover of Malefor's hold over her, although it's also noted by a few sources that Cynder may in fact be physically undead herself in addition to controlling the element. The Cynder in the Legend of Spyro series also oddly gained scales of a vaguely purple colouring in the final game, despite having been previously coloured black. This could potentially suggest that the purple colouring of their scales wasn't their original colour; like the powers that remained after Malefor's control ended, the purple colouring was a remnant of his control over her.
This could potentially suggest that the Cynder of Skylanders was originally an electricity dragon prior to her capture, and the Cynder of the Legend of Spyro series an Air or Wind Dragon. While such species of dragons weren't necessarily shown in the Legend of Spyro series, Whirlwind and the other dragons of the Skylands suggest that other elemental species did exist, but weren't represented amongst the Guardians for some reason; perhaps their Elemental Guardian was dead by the time Spyro arrived at the Dragon Temple, or perhaps their species simply wasn't known or well integrated into the Dragon Realms of the time.
To return to Malefor's plans for conquest, from what is mentioned in the backstories, it appears as though he ignored the Dragon Realms in favour of an attack on the Skylands. It's not too hard to imagine why; Malefor could have simply desired to see them destroyed alongside the Dragon Realms so that they could both be restored, but it could also be that he saw the Skylanders as a potential threat to his plans, and sought to destroy them first. Of course, we know that he also attempted and failed to capture Hex to learn or use her powers, but whether this was before or after his abduction of Cynder isn't known; if it preceded it, Malefor might have planned to corrupt Hex to take over the Skylands, and resorted to kidnapping a dragon egg after failing, but if it was afterwards, Hex might have been responsible for stopping Malefor's plans after Spyro freed Cynder. Either way, it doesn't seem Malefor got very far in his plans, unless of course there is a second part to his plan that hasn't been carried out yet.

AFTERWORD
I acknowledge that some of these theories are slightly slightly far-fetched, but I have strived to come up with the best theories I could think of due to the very fact that unity in such way can satisfy the fans of each series; with this turn of events, each incarnation of Spyro and the games that he appeared in remain somewhat distanced from each other by enough time that they don't necessarily have to affect each other. Annoyed at one game in the series "ruining the (fill-name-here) Spyro"? With this, it doesn't matter; it's a different Spyro in a different era of time.
In addition to this, it supports multiple character pairings at the same time. SpyroxCynder fan? Happened for Spyro in the Legend of Spyro era. SpyroxEmber/Elora fan? Could've happened for Spyro in the Original era. And who knows what Skylanders will add to the mix?
In the end, it's the fans who are going to be expanding on whatever the series gives them; isn't it better to be united as one fandom than to constantly be bickering about which characters should be canon or paired with others or not?

While nowhere as epic as the animated film, the animated TV series still had its moments from time to time, and was certainly an interesting concept. Although I want to slap whoever came up with the storyline for season three...I can't even bring myself to type what happened in it!
