I FOUND A NEW DELETED SCENE!

So Littlefoot finds the Great Valley by climbing over a mountain and ending up on the waterfall side, right? Then they all enter through the cave on the opposite end of the valley, right? And the final cut combines these versions, RIGHT?!
Guess what? I found a new background that wasn't shown in the movie.

In the storybook "Search for the Great Valley", there is a still that shows the cave end of the valley. You can see the waterfall on the opposite side. Furthermore, the rock in the grove of "( )"-shaped trees where they hug at the end is visible.

Why did I not post this in the cut scenes topic? Because I wanted to brag, of course!  

. . . Just let me have this one accomplishment.

The still of the Great Valley which you mentioned had never been uploaded in the outcut scenes thread. Somehow I had always assumed there to be two waterfalls at both ends of the Valley with one being somewhat inconsistantly depicted.
But you are absolutely right that the movie in the original cut probably suggested for the cave the Sharptooth was getting into and where Ducky had to play the bait to be another entrance to the Great Valley, different from the much shorter cave through which Littlefoot had followed the cloud image of his mother.

Unfortunately many of the pictures in the outcut scenes thread are no longer displayed in the host page the links are refering to died. Having uploaded the same pictures to photobucket I tried to restore them to the thread, but for some reason I keep getting this response:

...inspite of none of the images I link there coming in the invalid format.

^Check the names for space and underscore characters. Removing them should solve the problem.

That's a really amazing find and greatly adds to the overall perception of the 'geography' of the valley - plus adding to the continuity of what happens towards the end.

I had also just assumed there were two waterfalls!
