I felt this would fit better in the Visual Art section, as it doesn't really have much to do with gaming other than the cars being able to be driven in video games.

The racing sims I play have the option of creating your own custom car liveries (commonly called Skins), if you have Photoshop with the Nvidia DDS plugin and the right templates available. I'll be using this thread to show any paintjobs I do in the future. :)

CHEVROLET CAMARO RACE - TEAM GULF

Back in the 1970s, Porsche ran their successful race cars painted with the famous light-blue and orange scheme inspired by the Gulf oil company. To this day it is considered among the most beautiful liveries in motor racing history. Here's the simple, yet lovely Gulf livery on a gorgeous Porsche 917:

Last night, a brainwave hit me: Transfer the Team Gulf paintjob onto a Chevrolet Camaro, darkening the tone of the colours and modernising the livery to create a Gulf scheme that was cool and sinister, yet up-to-date. I whipped it up in a few hours, and added the finishing touches a few hours ago. Here is the product of slaving over Photoshop until 12:30am this morning :P:

I've loved the Porsche 917 ever since I first saw it in NFS Porsche Unleashed. And that paint job's awesome too - I always thought it had the perfect color combination. :yes

GILLET VERTIGO - TEAM CADBURY RACING

With the news that chocolate maker Cadbury was to be bought out by Kraft (*sigh*... another British mainstay absorbed into the melting pot of American industry :(), I felt it was time to give the company a send-off in my own small way.

The Gillet Vertigo is a Belgian car, and chocolate is very popular in Belgium, so it was an obvious choice for my "canvas". :idea Plus, the livery fits best with the Vertigo to me... ;)

I am still in the progress of painting this skin - as you can see there is still work to be done, such as cleaning up the paintwork and adding more sponsors (I'm thinking of other Cadbury bars :D) but the pictures below are what I have done so far... taken from the awesome Cadwell Park track in the UK. :DD
The race number, 24, comes from 1824 - the year that John Cadbury first started his business selling tea, coffee and drinking chocolate. :)

MOSLER MT900R - HERSHEY'S MOTORSPORT

When I was in the middle of painting my Cadbury Gillet Vertigo, I had a brainwave and then thought "Heck with it, I'll make a Hershey's one as well." :D The Hershey's Motorsport Mosler MT900R was born.

Here are three shots of the beta version of Car #1900 testing at Road America. (1900 was the year Hershey's was founded for those who don't know.)

I like the Hershey's one the best. Then again, I like that kind of candy bar, so, my views are a bit biased.
