LBT Projects / Tips on making music videos

It was taken down due to copyright violations. I do have a new account up there though with some videos up. My new account is Counterinsurgency.
Glad to know that you've returned to Youtube, though the reason for suspension sounds moronic. Your videos violated no more copyright rules than mine (I'm Tyrann0saurus over there), and yet I haven't been banned.

I appreciate your suggestions.

BTW, whatever happened to your Youtube account? I miss your older videos (esp. the sharpteeth tributes).

LBT Projects / What Have You Done Now?!

If this had been uploaded on Youtube, I would have favorited it instantly! The aggressive energy radiating from this video feels like I'm sitting next to a campfire!

Pterosaurs ("flyers") were for the most part carnivorous, so one would think that they would form their loyalties with the sharpteeth instead of the leaf-eaters. Why would flyers make friends with leaf-eaters instead?

Can I make one suggestion?

I would have liked to see more clips of Chomper's parents, especially when they're being nurturing or friendly. I think it would really reinforce your point, by showing that the sharpteeth aren't really complete monsters, that they have a moral side.

Hey, this gives me an idea for a sharptooth tribute of myself...but I only have LBT I.  :(

Oh I see.

This music video was made in defense for sharpteeth. I don't like how they are treated in the movies (considered stupid, cowards, etc). The song fits so perfectly too. The song is basically told from the POV of a tortured or troubled person who is wondering why they are treated differently just because they aren't what the others consider "normal".
I can really relate to that. This was a perfect selection of song.

Looking at all these makes me feel very sad for some reason...there's a very tragic quality to them.

(^ That's supposed to be Mary with Jesus---they look too European in my opinion, but otherwise very beautiful)

I heard that Hitler didn't have much confidence in his abilities---I wonder if that traumatized him and made him into the character we know him as today...

General Land Before Time / Why did they do this?

I hate almost all the songs on LBT. They're generic kiddy-show junk and they add nothing to the story. I hope they cut them out.

I actually find Ducky very annoying. If she says "Yep yep yep" another time, I'd offer her as a sacrifice to a sharptooth.

One thing I hate is Spinosaurus with long faces like Baryonix, there faceswere flatter, more like a raptor's face.
Spinosaurus skull:

Looks very similar to Baryonyx, which was indeed a close relative.

Universal Studios, the company responsible for LBT, is also famous for another dinosaur franchise, Jurassic Park. Not surprisingly, there are consequently a few winks to JP in LBT. These are the examples I can name:

1) Raptors in LBT3
2) Spinosaurus in the Flyers sequel
3) Someone in one episode of the series shouts something like "Redclaw can't see you if you don't move!"
4) Use of JP sound effects in the series

Can anyone else name more examples?

The movies used are Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and The Land Before Time. The song is "Tourniquet" by Evanescence. Enjoy!

General Land Before Time / LBT 12 Review

Annother point I forgot to mention in my review is the sharptooth of the movie. Apparently somebody in charge watched Jurrassic Park III and thought a Spinosaurus to be a nice alternative to the standard sharptooth or raptors.
This is not the only time Universal Studio's other major dinosaur franchise has influenced LBT. Isn't it a coincidence that LBT3 had raptors just after the first Jurassic Park? You also have sound effects from JP in the TV series. Can't think of any more---anyone else here thought of another example?

General Land Before Time / Taking the Sharp out of the tooth
« on: May 17, 2007, 08:59:15 AM »
I think the light-green Tyrannosaurus (Chomper's Mom?) at the start of LBT5 looked fairly scary, especially as she approached the camera, baring her teeth.

Also, the idea that kids don't like dinosaur violence is nonsense. Why would Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, and other meat-eaters have so much popularity with children if that was the case? I've seen quite a few dinosaur books for kids which showed blood-spilling and gory carcasses; none of it bothered me. Hell, a few decades ago, there was even a trading card series geared towards kids with ultraviolent images of dinosaurs killing people. I think kids' gore thresholds are pretty high, at least when it comes to dinosaurs.

1988 Theatrical Release / Racisim - A longneck / threehorn problem?
« on: May 17, 2007, 08:24:50 AM »
"Racism" may not be the right word for the kind of prejudice exhibited by the dinosaurs in LBT. "Race" is usually used for variation within a species (e.g. Africans vs Europeans vs Indians vs Native Americans...ad naseum). Longnecks, threehorns, and fliers are clearly from different clades, never mind species. "Speciesism" or "cladism" would probably be more appropriate here.

Quote
And like you said, Pterano also displayed racism as well, believing that flyers are superior and how he should have been leader. This sense of superiority probably stems from the fact that he could fly and could travel faster than the other dinosaurs.

I know LBT treats paleontology the same way 300 treated history, but pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs, although both pterosaurs and dinosaurs belong to the archosaur clade (along with crocodiles and birds).

Quote
Racism is not limited to leaf-eaters, as sharpteeth seem to have a sense of racism as well. This we see very well in The Lonely Journey, when Chomper is constantly attacked by any sharptooth he encounters. Though these attacks may stem from more than just racism. Chomper was another sharptooth and posed a threat to the sharpteeth because it would mean another mouth to feed. So instead of just allowing Chomper to hunt down what little prey there was in the area, they decide to try to kill him instead.

What kinds of sharpteeth?

LBT Projects / What I've Done
« on: May 17, 2007, 08:04:50 AM »
I have a difficult time imagining that Redclaw would be the same guy as the original LBT sharptooth. Different skin color, eye color, and Redclaw doesn't keep his right eye shut most of the time (why did the original sharptooth do that, anyway? We seem him closing that right eye even before he gets into the briar patch, and yet his right eye never appears injured). They look too dissimilar to be the same character. If I were to identify the LBT1 sharptooth with any of the franchise's subsequently appearing tyrannosaurs, it would either be Chomper's dad (still very improbable because of differences in personality and the way they relate to Littlefoot et al) or the green tyrannosaur from LBT6 (and one would still have to explain why that one didn't always keep his right eye closed).

I can see there being a possible connection between Redclaw and the LBT1 sharptooth*. Perhaps they were once allies---partners in crime, if you will. Unfortunately, that would be mere fan speculation.

*He really needs his own name...Singleye, perhaps?

(I wonder if they'll stick in something from Peter Jackson's recent King Kong remake too?).

I hope not. The T. Rexes sounded exactly like pigs in King Kong. I was extremely disappointed.
The raptors did make noises similar to the Terapusmordaxes from the King Kong game.

I don't think a sound from King Kong would necessarily be bad, so long as it's a roar (like that of a V. rex or Kong) instead of a noise of one of the "smaller" monsters.

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / Predictions

No way! This would disrupt LBT too much!
They got away with aliens in the movies, didn't they? As I recall, that didn't do that much harm to the LBT saga. If humans and their politics became a major theme in LBT, I agree that it would be disruptive. That said, I don't see how a few moments in which humans appear (for no longer than the episode's running length, of course) would do much harm.

Bipedal apes aside, I'd like to see a plot in which Chomper and Ruby reunite with their families, who then move into the Great Valley. Needless to say, it would be particularly interesting to see how Chomper's parents would manage to reach a compromise with the Great Valley natives.

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / Predictions

How about humans? They could be time-travelers from the future, or perhaps some early people who recently migrated from Africa or Asia. The question is, will these humans be good guys or antagonists (i.e. hunters or poachers)?

Hurrah for a Pterano mention! And Redclaw (I remember someone saying he had a scar over his eye. It actually went down to his claws. o_o; Jeez, what bit him?)! Did anyone else think the JP1 Velociraptor noises he made sometimes were a bit too high-pitched for a T. Rex? Where were his dromaeosaur buddies?
You'd think they'd give him the voice of the JP1 T. rex. At least the LBT production team can get away with using Jurassic Park sounds, since JP and LBT come from the same company (I wonder if they'll stick in something from Peter Jackson's recent King Kong remake too?).

Okay songs, I liked the tribal, Africanish music.

Somehow that sounds very appropriate for a prehistoric jungle.
