General Land Before Time / Do You Ever Wonder Why?
« on: September 16, 2017, 04:32:54 PM »
Might've been my fault.

When I was young The Land Before Time was one of the few things that got me through the days. I saw in those characters true friends that would never leave my side.

Every time a new one came out I always anxiously waited for the next one to come out and put all my hope into it.

I wanted to know what was going on with the gang, how they were and what new adventures were in store for them.

Like me, a lot of kids felt the same way. Universal saw in us, people who would be faithful to this franchise and decided to invest in it.

The TV series was a test to see if these direct to DVD movies could reach a broader audience and maybe create a franchise with a fan following for years to come. Sadly, it failed, and after the flop that was LBT XIII the series went on hiatus. LBT XIV was just a way to try and capitalize on Jurassic World's box office fame.

also yeah Dalekdino! i swear i've heard the 2nd movie's songs on YouTube quite a long time ago but haven't seen those videos in a while, i wonder if they're gone.

aaand unfortunately, from my experience Chomper was completely undubbed in Great Valley Adventure, not a single peep from Otani so i wonder where that false information came from. possibly somebody putting 2 and 2 together and assuming since Chomper was dubbed in the 5th film, they might've had the same treatment here but, it seems not so.

edit: forgot to post the updated video download link too whoopshttps://www.dropbox.com/sh/95gkbte6z5lgd2p/...bEfZRQ4i6a?dl=0
Ah. Well I think what you meant to say was they just keep Chomper s original English audio baby noises done by Rob Paulsen.
Kind of disappointing that pikachus VA didn't voice Chomper in the second movie after all.. but still at least they didn't remove his voice track all together and make him completely mute.
Plus they seem to do the same with Spike which I can understand as what's the point of dubbing a character who just grunts and doesn't actually speak any proper words. 90% of the time
Dalekdino don't forget that Spike speaks clearly in Journey through the mist ;)

Thanks again ChaoticPochi! These are some of my favourite songs and they sound great in Japanese.

If there is interest from you guys I can upload the brazilian and portuguese versions of LBT songs to YouTube.

Sadly, only the original, III and IV were ever dubbed in european portuguese, but I've managed to own a copy of IV.

It's a great project ChaoticPochi, I thought you were Japanese and uploading those videos from your private collection. If you're importing them it does make it a bit expensive.

Good luck on finding the rest of the DVDs, you're doing an excellent job.

General Land Before Time / Journey of the Brave (LBT 14)

Nick22, that would be great, but I doubt a TV series will ever happen.

I would like to own a DVD copy, I guess I'll just end up buying it from the UK.

At this point I'm not sure I'd rather see a new sequel or a reboot of the whole franchise.

General Land Before Time / When should we expect news about LBT 15?
« on: August 14, 2017, 06:38:00 PM »
I had no idea this channel existed, already subscribed to it, thanks guys!

As for a LBT XV, well we've waited 9 years for a new sequel, we can wait a little longer. I believe it will happen, maybe not next year, but it will. Just never loose hope.

It has yet to be released in Portugal as well. I'm doubting it ever will.

Thinking about importing it from Brazil. Do you guys know if brazilian DVDs work on Region 2 players?

PS.: Glad to see the whole Photobucket problem has been solved.

I knew it had to be someone from TGOG uploading those LBT Japanese songs on YouTube :D

Just wanted to say thanks ChaoticPochi, I've even shared my blog and a few LBT IV videos of the songs in European Portuguese. Hope you find the time to enjoy them as much as I've been enjoying yours

Found them just by chance after watching a video of Japanese dubs of american shows, it got me thinking that there should've been japanese dubs for The Land Before Time.

It was an awesome coincidence to find your channel at the same time.

General Land Before Time / DVD releases forJourney of the Brave (LBT 14)
« on: September 07, 2016, 05:46:48 PM »
Journey of the Brave is a good sequel, not great, but still better than some of the later ones. As for Davis Doi, I haven't seen any of his work besides LBT XIV, and I have to say he did a pretty good job. One needs to understand that a director's part in an animation movie, or any movie for that matter, doesn't allow him to be that creative.

Sure, he picks the shots and how the characters are layed out, and he directs the voice over actors, but he has little say in the plot and in the animation. He probably revised the script, but whichever faults that you may see in the story it's the writer's fault alone. Maybe the producer too, if he was very active in the planing of the movie.

Still no release date here in Portugal.

Как дела Coyote_A? Я говорю немного по-русски :p

The DVD from Region 2 is available in the UK through Amazon.co.uk, it will probably be cheaper for you. It's only £5. I just haven't bought it, yet, because I have all the others with the Portuguese covers and dubs, so I'm going to wait a few more months. The one available on Amazon is dubbed in Spanish, Dutch, French and German.

Still nothing in Portugal. I went to Fnac, if there are any french users they'll know these stores, it's basically a store that sells books, CDs, Records, DVDs, Blurays, Games, some toys and some tech, but it started as a CD and book store, and they don't have any release schedule for this DVD, it's nowhere in their database.

If it's not there it won't be anywhere else, at least for the foreseeable future, it's one of those stores that can basically import anything, even if it was never sold here.

In which countries besides the US, and the UK, has JotB been officially released?

I have all movies on DVD, except Journey of the Brave, it has yet to be released in Portugal.

Do you know if the boxset will ever be released in Europe?

General Land Before Time / Land before time Theory
« on: May 31, 2016, 10:02:11 AM »
This theory was very popular before the first sequel came out. It's an interesting interpretation of the first film, and it kind of makes sense due to the mystical way the finale of the film unfolded.

However, this theory was debunked by Don Bluth himself, I believe there's an interview outthere somewhere. Afterall, The Land Before Time is still a kids movie, and such a metaphor is too complex for young minds to process. It's just a way for grown up fans of the film to theorize and keep it interesting.

Worry not, the gang is alive and well, and going on 13 sequels and a TV series of adventures to prove it.

Thanks rhombus. It was a cool day indeed (:

The musical aspect of the sequels is part of what drew me to The Land Before Time in the first place. The overall soundtrack is so beautiful it sometimes hides the unavoidable flaws that most of the sequels had.

As much as I love the score from the original movie, I find myself floating away towards blissful childhood memories every time I list to Michael Tavera's music.

Some of the songs from the sequels are also heartwarming and touching. When I was little, before falling asleep I always sang the songs from the sequels (the ones that I liked at least) in my head, and imagined Littlefoot and the gang singing them. On Monday I'd sing the songs from The Great Valley Adventure, and so on until Saturday where I'd sing the songs from Stone of Cold Fire. They were, and still are great lullabyes.

To each his one. But if you don't buy it, we probably won't get a new sequel. I'm just waiting for it to be available in my country and then I'll buy the DVD.

I hate Wisdom of Friends, and I still own the DVD. Doing the best I can to keep the franchise alive.

I've never heard of him before LBT XIV. However, he did a great job with this sequel. For me it's in the top 8 LBT sequels of all time, much better than Wisdom of Friends, and on par with The Great Day of the Flyers.

I've read a while back in this thread that someone had a digital version of Journey of the Brave that they could lend to us foreigners :p

Who should I talk to about it?

Region may be free but the shipping is not  :)littlefoot

No release date for Portugal either. The last two DVDs of the TV series were never released here, however all twelve sequels were.

Guess I have to wait and see.

What about the blu-ray of the original film, has it been released in the UK?

60
That's the way it's credited. Albertosaurus were very similar to T-Rexs. The only difference was size.

As for Allosaurus, it was smaller, much older, and it had strong arms with three fingers.
