This cartoon I have been looking for...for years

Alright, so I remember this cartoon about a duckling with his friend who is a puffin. They get separated from their families and try to runaway from a fox. In the mean time, they met a beaver (if memory serves me right) and the beaver protects them by fighting the fox, but the fox kills him.

The puffin and the duckling in the end find their families.

I remember having a very intense feeling over this movie, but I also remember liking it.

Does anyone know what cartoon am I talking about?

I never have. Was it a good movie? I see it gets good ratings on IMDB.
