Just an ordinary game of Tag?

It was a beautiful day in the Great Valley. The Bright Circle was laughing from the sky, not a single Sky Puffy blocking out its warm rays of energy. A moderate breeze was reducing the heat of the afternoon a little bit. It also carried a wide range of sounds – the whistling of the wind itself to begin with, the rustling of the leaves of all the many trees in the valley, the neverending splashing sounds of the plentiful water and the Thundering Waterfalls, the continuous humming and buzzing of several insects, the snoring of the residents and migrating herds having their afternoon nap, the whispering of several conversations being held... and of course the laughter of the children playing in the safe environment of the Great Valley.

"I will get you, yep, yep, yep!" Ducky shouted as she was running across a wide meadow, attemping to catch one of her friends.

"Maybe in your sleepstories, Ducky!" Cera whom Ducky was chasing countered with a snort.

"You better run fast coz' Ducky be quick on her legs for her small size," Petrie commented from the air as he was a flyer and too slow on his legs to participate in a game of tag.

"Pah! I'm a threehorn, beakbrain!" Cera shouted at Petrie above her. "Threehorns are best at everything so we're also the fastest!"

"We will see, yes we will!" Ducky declared, panting heavily due to the great effort to sprint after her friend.

Cera simply let out a scornful snort and ran towards a group of trees.

Meanwhile, Littlefoot was spectating the game from a safe distance, chuckling at the repartee his friends were having, while Spike took the opportunity of not being engaged in the active chase to have his early afternoon snack.

Despite Cera's claims, Ducky slowly gained on the threehorn as they entered the small forest.

"Oh, that not look good for Cera..." Petrie spoke, amused.

"Oh shut up, Petrie!" Cera yelled. "I'm just allowing Ducky to get close to me to make this exiting for you guys!"

"Oh no, no, no! I know you cannot run any faster, hehehe," Ducky exclaimed, putting all effort into her speed.

As the two dinosaurs continued to run deeper into the forest, with Petrie following from high above and the other two spectating from the distance, Ducky further gained on Cera, the threehorn's tail coming more and more into the small swimmer's reach.

"You gonna get her, Ducky!" Petrie screamed in order to encourage his friend.

Cera didn't retort anything this time for she had to focus on maintaining her pride and not getting caught by the swimmer.

Ducky stretched her little arms towards Cera's tail but she couldn't reach it. Therefore, she decided to try something else to gain the last few centimetres in order to catch Cera. The swimmer gathered all the energy she had left in her legs and jumped.

All eyes were on Ducky now. Littlefoot, Spike and Petrie were thrilled to see Cera getting defeated in this game for she usually didn't take it well which often ended up in rather hilarious situations while Cera was trying everything to prevent that from happening. She saw what Ducky was trying to do and made the right decision in very little time. She threw her body to the left.

Ducky was sailing through the air. Totally unprepared for Cera's sudden move, she continued to rush forward, missing Cera's tail and crashing into the ground violently, somersaulting several times until she bumped into a massive tree, screaming in a mixture of fear, pain and surprise as she did so.

"DUCKY!" Littlefoot, Cera and Petrie screamed simultaneously while Spike uttered worried sounds of his own. They rushed to their friend to see if she was okay.

"Ducky, you alright?" Petrie questioned in a panic.

"Ouch-ie, my head..." Ducky mumbled in agony.

"Are you hurt?" Cera asked.

"Oh I think I will be okay, yes I will," Ducky replied, still a little dizzy.

"Me sure you will be," Petrie said with relief in his voice. "Me think you hurt tree, not tree hurt you..."

Indeed the bark of the tree had broken off where Ducky had impacted it.

"Hehehe, now I feel much much better-er already," Ducky giggled.

"Hey... what's that... thing?" Cera suddenly piped up.

"What is what?" Littlefoot asked, just having arrived at the scene along with Spike.

"Well, there's that strange thing where the bark of the tree broke away," Cera replied.

Meanwhile many million years in the future...

"Ah, it looks like our favourite little dinosaurs have eventually discovered one of the cameras," the narrator explained to the crowd of children in the studio and on TV. "Shall we say hello to them?"

"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!!!" came the enthusiastic response from the kids.

*

Back in the Great Valley...

"Mhm, me wonder what it is?" Petrie wondered.

"Hello children," the narrator's voice came out of the camera.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" the five young dinosaurs screamed in unison.

"Don't worry, I'm just the narrator. Say hello to the audience."

"U-Uh, h-hello?" Ducky stammered shily. "Who are you?"

"I'm the narrator, Ducky. You cannot see me nor the audience but they can see you."

"You scare Petrie!" Petrie cried.

"What clubtail-dung is this!?" Cera yelled angrily?"

"Well, it's very complicated to explain..." the narrator spoke. "I'm not dangerous I promise. Don't be shy and say hello to all the children in the audience, please."

"Hello, my name is Ducky, yes that is what it is!" Ducky spoke, smiling and waving into the camera. "And this is my brother Spike!"

Spike nodded and grinned, then munching on a nearby farn.

"Er... hello," Petrie said nervously, making a weak attempt to wave his hands.

"Fine!" Cera snorted but smiled into the camera anyway after Littlefoot poked her.

"Hello there," Littlefoot said. "We'll just... continue playing okay?"

"Of course!" the narrator said. "Have fun!"

"Bye!" the five friends called before continuing their game, laughing, until their parents would tuck them into their nests.

Yes, I'm not dead lol  :lol Well, I should be for not sleeping at all tonight  Wrote this from 4-6 am :angel
Anyway, I haven't been very productive in writing lately... this was for a flash fiction contest on deviantArt and since it allowed fanfiction too I was just thiiinking... :p The task was to break the forth wall. Admittedly, the bigger challenge was not to exceed the maximum word count of 1000 words :DD The ending is really rushed because of that, could've added like another 500 words :p

I'm also sorry for being so lazy with reviewing other fanfictions. I must confess that it's just so damn hard to pick up the stories again after not having read anything for a while due to lack of time to do so  :bang

Ha nice little short fic of yours and kind of version of past meet future here Ducky123.
I must say I was worried at first Ducky was going to do herself a nasty mischief for moment..
Also I like Cera's "Clubtail dung" line. Sound like something me or TAP would come up with in the caption topic. Though if it were me I'd put Sharptooth- dung.

Hahaha ... cute little story! Nice imagery, details, and staying in character, and totally didn't see the fourth wall part coming  ;) .

Very nice! I honestly have not written much at all lately...but I think you already know that by now.  :p  Of course, the fourth-wall breaking I didn't really see coming either, but it's a nice element, however rushed the ending may be. Perhaps you should continue it...not like it's gonna happen, but suggestions don't hurt now, do they?  :D

Glad you two enjoyed it too :smile

I think I could make a little story out of this but I don't even get around to working on my still-in-progress fanfiction so how am I supposed to start yet another one? Well, I'll see. If I feel inspired to write, then I do. Whatever story I'll be working on whenever that will be :p
