Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: AvestheForumFox on January 17, 2008, 02:47:53 AM
This RP has been done before, year 2002 on a forum community I was strongly apart of. Based on an anthropomorphic universe in which my strongest characters existed.

I have invited a guest and old time RP'ing veteran, (I still call him Rico) to join in on this RP. And he has happily obliged to do so =)

so what kind of world is this? Well the characters are 100% anthropomorphic animals (foxes, cats, dogs, etc, etc) and while I know most of everyone on here has never had such characters, think of this as an opportunity to be creative! Make up your own children animal characters.

The story takes place in Xandrea Elementary, my characters consists of Timothy and Nichole, who are twin brother and sister foxes, Elex, the young fawn buck, Aron the wolf (the Bully) and several others.

Post questions here and I'll explain more.

Is it an adventure, more of a social sort of rp,  or some other sort of rp?

It's not a new idea to me, rping as an anthro, or a furry/scalie as some of us use the term for yourselves.  Much more of a scalie then a furry personally, though I know foxes and wolves are extremely popular among furries.    For those who may have a strong dislike of us scalies/furries or say all of us are sick/weird/ect I"ll just give you the middle finger, or if your British their equivalent and say to each their own.

I guess like the early parts of LBT 3 I guess.  Avoiding the bullies and trying to not get beaten up on.  Social sort or rp sounds like.

on the other forums, there were the types who stood up to Aron and his gang evertrime he tried to hurt Timothy or any other small child.

so there may be some scenes that'll require a fight of sorts... oh, and the teachers and the principle dont seem to care much, unless one of the victims swing back

Sounds like it'd be a mammal/furry only, no scalies or other types.   Sounds like the school I went to as a kid and teen.  The adults do not care until someone throws a punch then both get in trouble, even if one of them never threw a punch and got all beaten up he still gets in trouble.

Yes.  Guess I can do a fox like the majority will do.  I'd have to research foxes to get the personality right.  More of a scalie myself instead of a furry.

I wasnt using that strip to convert you into a furrie, Kor, I was simply using that as an example about teacher's not caring who hit first =P

Post by: AvestheForumFox on January 17, 2008, 01:29:26 PM
Also, Kor, since you prefer reptoids over furries, I figured it'd be okay for you to go ahead and use one. In this time period on Lyferia, the reptilian races are a bit more accepted by the furry races.

though I must warn you, Aron and his gang of bullies would target you for being so different XD

I may concider adding a reptoid child to my character roster
Title: Discussion: The School Bully

I don't know anything about reptoids and with the sheer mass of posts in 2 other rp threads I was in it's hard to think about anything.   I'll have to think about all that later, along with if I should continue at all.

Converting them to furry?  Man, you on a board for fans of a cartoon movie starring anthropomorphic dinosaurs.  You're just a bit late on the converting, lol.

Regardless, I can't really use the one I used the last time you tried this.  That character is grown up now.  However, I still have Rico's son or his adopted son I can use.

I'd have to turn the former into some form of animal, unless you allow humans.

Also... no, no, thats it.  Unless you want a recipe for rabbit stew to take to Millie there.

well, I've pondered the existence of humans in this series several times before.. there have been humans, yes, but I often wondered if they actually fit well with the furries.

Well, if that's what you want to play, I suppose it wouldnt hurt to give it a try =)

furries, reptoids, whatever works
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: Kor on January 17, 2008, 08:33:28 PM
I just need information on the reptoids if I do those.  I guess they'd be hated like African Americans were in the early days of schools being integrated.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: AvestheForumFox on January 17, 2008, 08:37:58 PM
Well, perhaps something like that.. only not as extreme.

Lyferia has its clans and Black Panthers style groups, but the world in general has come to accept the other species as a whole

Not much you need to know about the reptoids, I gave you a brief version of their history last night while on MSN. But in these days, they are much less tribal, and do not worship the same dragons and gods that they used to

Reptiles and Mammals exists in this universe as blacks and whites do in our universe today

I'd need a bit more, what shapes they are in, ect.  but no need to do that here.  And not sure if I want to rp here much anymore with the falling behind so fast and all.  Feels liek I have to stay connected here 24/7 to not fall behind.   Threehorn's rp right now is the only one I'm not totally lost on so odds are I'd be totally lost in this rp also.

Man, you need to relax (http://www.tonkawatribe.com/bofh/emo.jpg) a little.  so you fall behind.  This board is small enough and quiet enough that people can take the time to explain it all.

Short of that, I don't know you, so I'll take your word for it that you have issues.  :p

Title: Discussion: The School Bully

It's not just falling behind from their posting to fast, it's how to you explain certain characters doing nothing.   Like the klingons beam onto the enterprise bridge and get into a fight, but Captain Kirk sits there and does nothing after talking to Spock and McCoy who are on the bridge and were talking to him just before the fight began.  That is what I mean, there is no real logical reason you can say Captain Kirk, or certain other characters I am doing in certain threads, have been totally silent and doing nothing this whole time.   I'm a stickler for what makes sense and continuity but to me certain things have to make sense.  As in this case, Captain Kirk would not just sit there and do nothing in that situation, and no character would do nothing for 1 or several pages of posts taking place in the same spot where they are.

Our answer was a "Strict" RP.  One where everyone takes turns.   Once you post, everyone else has to post before you can again.   But that only seems to work well on paper.

This could make for an interesting RPG. Anthropomorphic characters always make things interesting. I'm not usualy into "social" RPGs, but this one looks good. I also like the reptoid backgrounds, since that's my thing. I like Reptiles alot, so I'm always amking reptailian characters.

I would need to pmed any info about reptoids I'd need to make a character.  Also not sure if I"d do a male or female character, depends on the char ratio.

Maybe waiting another day or so may be best, some folks who rp seem to only have time to come here a few times a week or so, so maybe give them time, and if you are extra buzy weekends it may be best to wait for that reason also.

I might could make a slight exception here... after all, with so many Bully RP's made in this same manner, I dont think all of them have to be cannon to my series =P
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: Kor on January 18, 2008, 01:39:24 AM
As long as you are sure.  What age should she be? And I"d likely need time to try to make up a personality with no back story.  Still feels odd since I thought no dinos were around, but it could be a parallel universe or earth 2 type of place maybe.

I've read some, some fantasy worlds had humans only.  I think Spellsinger had only humans and anthro animals.  If I recall correctly the wizard in that book was an anthro turtle.

Still, in every fantasy novel I have read, elves kick @$$ in some way or another.

Legolas in Lord of the Rings
Arya in Eragon
Julius Root and Holly Short in Artemis Fowl

I use to read a lot of fantasy, for around 20 years, but sorta lost interest.  I read one fantasy that had only humans, and non anthro cats in it, with both being sentient, but humans didn't know the cats were.

Well, anthropomorphic personifications have human characteristics. So do elves. They could fit into this RP without too much confusion.

Aves and Aves alone is the one who says what fits into it's world since it made the world.  Sounds to me like you are trying to argue about that.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: lbt/cty_lover on January 19, 2008, 04:32:51 PM
If I seem to be arguing, I apologize.

I am just trying to prove a point. It should be feasibly possible to work elves into this RP.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: Kor on January 19, 2008, 07:27:03 PM
It's up to Aves if elves exist or not in it's world.  If they do not maybe he can suggest a species that is similar to elves in some way, their view of living as part of nature, or some other aspect that is similar to what most elves are like in the few fiction I've read them in.  The vast majority of the fantasy books I read didn't have any elves in them, but were human only worlds.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: lbt/cty_lover on January 19, 2008, 08:03:55 PM
I prefer elves. They are just awesome. If not, something elvenoid (like anthropomorphic except with elvish characteristics) would be great.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: Kor on January 19, 2008, 08:33:31 PM
It may have to be mamalian, like a rabbit, fox, weasel, or some other like that, or a reptoid type.  That will between you and Aves though.    It seems to similar to the races in spellsinger.  Mostly anthro animals with humans also being around.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: lbt/cty_lover on January 19, 2008, 09:00:59 PM
I thought people notice that I coin a lot of words.

Personally, I would like to be elvish or an anthropomorphic dragon.
Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: Kor on January 19, 2008, 09:08:59 PM
I like dragons quite a bit also, but I doubt there are any, I'm doing a reptilian reptoid type instead.  The choices have to come from what fits into Aves's world and the races that are already present.

Title: Discussion: The School Bully
Post by: AvestheForumFox on January 19, 2008, 09:20:15 PM
lbt/cty_lover, you seem really determined to be a fantasy based character in this RP.

I'm just not 100% sure they'd fit into a modern day school environment with anthro mammals (and possibly reptoids)

everytime you say elf, I imagine Elrond walking amongst the children in the school hallways... it looks silly in my mind's eye

so I still cant give you a straight answer.. I'll think more on it before the RP is posted up this Monday
Title: Discussion: The School Bully

I just like fantasy. It is awesome with its mythical creatures.

Not all fantasy has mythical creatures in it, though some does.  The Elrond image was pretty funny, though not meant as that.  Sounds like a good scene from a Weird Al Video.

I am not trying to argue. I prefer to think of it as debating.

I will, however, stand with the dragons until a decision has been made.

lbt/cty_lover, been reading Ozy and Millie much? Ozy and Millie are both children anthro foxes, though Ozy's adopted father is a Dragon...

so I suppose that could be fitting if you could shape your character like the dragon in the supplied strip:

What I'm also considering is playing two teachers...the one I mentioned who's generally a pleasant teacher, and another who is much more strict.  It'll seem more realistic then I think, because there's always those teachers you knew of as nice, and those that were strict.

I'll also add this while its on my mind.  There is no cuss filter on this board (at least none that is enabled) so if your character in the story says "You fucking idiot!" that's how it will stay.  While its not necessary to write something like that to move the story along, its not forbidden either if you choose to write it down.  In a sad sense, its typical to hear that out of kids mouths. :(

From I think the character's name was Arthur Dent, from the hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy?  Though I maybe wrong.
Correct! I love H2G2.

What are everybody's individual plans for this RP?

I don't have any.  I don't bring any story or plot into someone else's rp, unlike some other folks do.  Which is one reason I"ll never gm here, though that is another topic.

What I mean is, how are you going to interpret the plot?

I let the gm run the plot.  I just rp my character to the best of my ability while having fun.

Same here. Do you have any side-plots planned?

no, I don't bring in any side plots into someone else's thread they are gming.  The only way I would is if I were a co-gm of the thread.

Wouldn't something like a relationship between characters be considered a side-plot?

If not, what would you call that?

It might...unless the GM permits it. Otherwise I do see them as a sideplot.

If the gm permits it would be a side plot.  A minor side plot likely since it would not involve half or the whole group of player characters, just the 2.
