Shortly after Chomper first entered the valley, he found Guido for the first time.

Chomper:  "Oh boy!  A feather glider!  I haven't eaten one of those in ages"

Chomper licks his lips as Guido shivers in fear.

Petrie (offscreen):  "No eat Guido.  He a friend!"

Chomper: *sigh*  "Do you guys have to be friends with everyone..."

Since Guido was introduced a couple films before Chomper officially became a part of the Gang, and then Guido disappeared for a while, it makes sense that he missed the memo that Chomper is a friendly Sharptooth. Or maybe he just isn't ready to let his guard down yet. :p
