Title: So, who's hardcore now, Mario?

So, I just figured out that if you pick a Nintendo World Championships ë90 ROM/Cartridge to play Super Mario 1 instead of the real thing, you instantly get 99 lives to play thru the entire game. So you can beat it effortless, almost without wanting to!

Although there is one catch: If you collect 50 coins, the game is over... so you will have to avoid to collect coins, but that's a little tricky, because the game sometimes has you begging to come across some nickels to get an extra life. It is certainly harder than it looks.

Granted, this makes the game remarkably easier, but this is also really cheap and an undeniable cheat. But c'mon, we deserve this! This is same game that has made the facepalm a reflex action on us (plus, I'd like the opportunity to show-off a bit here, rather than my usual self, who can't seem to stop sweating the controllers) :lol

What if you lose a few lives so you're not at 99? Can you collect 50 coins then?

I died on purpose a few times (down to 95 lives) just to answer your question and... no, you can't. The second you hit 50 coins, the game ends (with the flagpole music for some reason).
