Hello. I am attempting to get screenshots of lbt but it just doesn't seem to want to copy right in windows xp. I do the print screen thing and all I get is windows media player with a blank screen. I have also tried the alt + print screen method and get the same result. It worked about a month ago but it doesn't now. I have no explaination for the error. I have also tried these methods with media player classic and divx player and I still only get the player window with a blank screen. Any idea why?

I think it has something to do with the programs themselves.
To take screenshots, Windows Movie Maker should work. That's what I use to get my screenshots from the movies.
-
Nope. Moviemaker isn't the answer. It still did the same stuff.

Didn't you click on that icon in the shape of a camera? The one that says "Take Picture" when you hover the cursor over it?
-
What version are you using? I don't even have that. I can't even import the video because the stupid program won't accept my avi video codecs. That's why I removed movie maker the instant I got the computer. I found the program to be completely useless. Do they have a new version out? I am using version 2.0.3312.0
-
Yes, they have a 2.1 version out. I use Windows Movie Maker for my music videos.

I will download the new version. I am downloading it third party so it will take about 30 minutes to complete. I will advise you of any further complications. Thank you.

You're welcome, and alright.

VLC solves all your problems. :)
-
Okay. I downloaded both moviemaker and VLC and the problem still exists. What's up with this thing?
-
You clicked on the camera-shaped icon? If you click it, it should automatically come up with the "save as" stuff, name your file, and click save, and it should work.
-
What I usually do is record the video of the screenshot I want in moviemaker. Then when I finished capturing the video I wait until it is imputed into the program. Like DH said there should be a camera icon right under screen that previews the video, and then Save as the picture and you can go into it.

Start VLC
File --> Quick Open File
Find your movie file.
When its playing go to Video --> Snapshot
Your pictures will be saved in the PNG format in C:\Documents and Settings\(main account)\My Documents\My Pictures
Works everytime. ;)

Thank's so much! Do you know if the captures made by VLC are compadible with image compression programs?
-
I use VLC for screenshots.
Yes, the PNG files will function properly in Photoshop, which is good enough control for me.
-
Thank's a lot guys! Now I can begin my LBT comic and get a new desktop background today. What I don't understand is why the screenshot worked in media player just a month ago but now it doesn't. Oh well. I guess it doesn't matter anymore. I just would like to know what caused the malfunction so it won't happen again.

I think it has to do with a Windows Media Player filter...something has to be turned off but I don't remember what it is, and maybe you can't do it with WMP11.
Anyway, good to hear it worked out.
