I can't wait! Next Thursday I'll be taking the test with the examiner to get my driver's license! And to answer your question right now, no, I'm not 16. I don't turn 16 until this August. In Montana(as well as North Dakota) you can get your driver's license at 15! HA! HA! I filled out my required hours about a month and a half ago and now FINALLY I get to take the test for my independent license! Now I know that for each state it's different how people acquire their licenses so this is how Montana does it:
-At 14 years or higher you go in to take a month long driver's ed course, it is required to spend at least 18 hours behind the wheel with the instructor.
-You take the State Knowledge test in class, if you fail once you have a chance to take it two more times before you have to take the course all over again.
-As of July 1st, 2006 you must drive with a permit for 50 hours for at least 6 months.(I'm lazy so it took me 10 months to finally get my hours filled out, plus the winter roads in Montana are horrible.)
-You go in for the driving test with an examiner and you get your driver's license if you pass.

EVERYONE! GET OFF THE ROADS!! CYBERLIZARD HAS HIS LICENCE!!! (just kidding... :P: ) Well, good for you. Yeah, study up for State Knowledge Test, make sure you know which sign does what. Also, in most Driving Tests, you'll have to pull into a driveway or alley, and back out into the correct lane. You'll also have to parallel park, probably, so practice up on those as well.
Its the same way in Illinois. I was about 15 when I got mine. Like you, I just had to get in a certain number of hours driving with my mom or my dad. Or my brother when he had permission (and was willing to risk his life :D ).

Well, I took the written State Knowledge Test when I went in for my permit about a year ago when I was 14. :lol But yeah, I've gotten plenty of practice with driving at night, on the freeway, 3 point turns and of course, parallel parking. I don't know why but parallel parking is extremely easy for me. And if I wasn't so lazy and if the streets in Montana weren't so damn icy in the winter time, I would have been posting this topic somewhere back in February or March. :p

That's something I don't understand, why 14 year old's can get drivers licence in America (and I include latin america as well) and in europe you have to be 18.
-
In Pennsylvania you have to be.. either 17 or 18 to get a driver's license.
