Title: The Good Dinosaur LBT similarity
Post by: Pinky997 on November 28, 2015, 02:18:47 AM
In one of the first scenes of the new Pixar movie, the Good Dinosaur, one of Arlo's siblings hatches and runs around with his legs sticking out of his shell and head-butts his dad. It looked just like the opening of LBT, where Cera does that when she hatched. Coincidence or could they have been referencing The Land Before Time?

It could very well be a homage.

Don Bluth and the original Land Before Time are considered classic animation in a positive way by many. I can see Pixar doing a friendly wave.

Honestly though, I'd consider that coincidence first and foremost.

{SPOILERS)

The ending was veeeeeeeeery similar to Ice Age though :T. And/or overly sentimental. I'd give the movie somewhere between a low and a high in the 70's

Strangely, I feel like they could have done a lot better if some of the characters met had more continuity and if the boy ACTUALLY was able to talk at all

Although the MC dinosaur was quite cute throughout the film :>

And some danger and/or death scenes gave me the chills

Likely a homage. I will agree with the others that LBT has a lasting cultural impact of sorts.

This is a good question.

I tend to see Disney "reenact" a lot.

When I was little, I'd see a Nickelodeon show and 6 months later it would happen on a Disney Channel show. I'm not exaggerating lol.

Maybe it is a coincidence?

Or likely a reenactment on purpose, or like mentioned above; maybe an act of respect. Maybe Pixar wanted to respect Universal, and did it on purpose just to have fun in respect. Does that make sense? Not really.
