I was able to backup some of my stuff. Mostly pictures and documents. However I had to sacrifice most of my music and all of my videos as there wasn't enough time to back everything up. My harddrive was unstable at that point and could have went at any moment.

Right now, I am using my sister's laptop (with a broken hinge) as a backup for now. I will be using this for the next few days.

I will be getting a new internal harddrive this weekend. I will hook it up when I get it and install an operating system on it. Then I will attempt to rescue whatever data is left. I may have one shot to get some more stuff back.

Well that's good you where able to save some stuff that you lost. Hopefully you'll be able to get more back with the new hard drive you'll be getting.

Okay an update. I bought a 1 TB harddrive and installed it, with some difficulty. I did install a system on it and I am still configuring it. I'm still using my laptop in the meantime, but I should be back on my own computer sometime today.

I am now using my regular computer. The harddrive was installed and the new operating system is in place. I'm in the process of getting it configured and set up.
