I don't think a release date has yet been released. Judging from the previous sequels late 2007 / early 2008 would be a good guess, but still just a guess.

I can say for sure it has been given a green to go and I only saw the story boards when I was in the NBC Universal Buildiung last year and they was starting the voice scriping already for september time last year. That all I really know but still it does show they are in the process of creating it.

The information that there will be a 13th movie has been around since December 2005. If anyone has any further information but may not reveal it, I appeal to those people to stick to their promisses and not to even mention their access to such information as it would only end up with people trying (possible with success) to tickle out information we are not yet supposed to have.

I know very little about it myself, I only saw screnches, not even that. I can't remember much about what I saw anyhow. All I know is what I just said in the last post, other then that I don't know anything else.

It better to be kept in the dark and I don't mind it at all, it just leaves me inching to want to know what it really about :)

I just hope it's different from the series. It could keep the same plot-line for coherence, but I hope it's a sequel like the one's we're used to.
Do you think we're up to some surprises?

Well I think that the animation will be significantly better than other sequals.  I won't bore you with the details, but in 1991 one year wasn't much time for computers to grow.  But now, every nanosecond, they come up with a faster processor and a better graphics card.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if they even went so far in LBT 13 as to be bold and go for some 3D animation the way computers are advancing.  But then again, it depends on their budget.  If they don't have enough money to buy the newest computer system or they just think the other sequals animation was sufficient then they may not use better graphics even if they're able.  To sum it up:  I know that they are capable of having better graphics the real question is: "are they going to do it?"

I have no further information I wish to contribute.

Hmm... I prefer watching lbt in the normal cartoon style. In some of the sequels they've used animation, I particulary liked the one in lbt 12.
As for the plot, I'd like to see some sort of explanation to why Chomper came to live in the great valley, or something cool like Ali joining the gang for a few adventures.

The Great Extinction? Sounds like a title from people who want LBT to end. But coming from Wikipedia, no surprise it's some person's way of making a joke. I wouldn't even touch that article with an ounce of a trust.

I don't think so . It's just some hater of Land Before Time probably. Since just about anyone could create a page on Wiki. I wouldn't trust that article if I were you . Unless you have seen an article about this on a more reliable website. I wouldn't be to worried about it. I don't think they're gonna end it.

I think so to. There's another title more interesting: The Return of Chomper

http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page (http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page)

This one is supposedly about how Chomper came to live in the great valley, and apparently everyone else from every sequel will be there.

I do not trust The Great Extinction title one bit.  For one thing, with how popular the series is, why would the writers want to suddenly end it?  With that in mind, I really doubt that will be the title.

Now, as for the Return of Chomper one, I don't believe that would be the title as it would make the movie far too obvious.  However, it might be a possible storyline, regardless.  I just really don't expect that kind of title out of the franchise.

Hey, I just had a thought.  If LBT 13 does come out in 2008, do you think there will be a 20th Year Anniversary Edition of the original LBT with it?  And if that does happen, would you buy it?

I know I would. ;)

I ususally ask Aria or her mum for news of this and if I can share it with you all but I haven't asked them anything of it yet so I am just as clueless about the title as you guys are.

If it comes as the DvD that has been sold all along just with an additional 20 on the cover I would definitely not buy it. If there is any additional material (make off, deleted scenes etc.) I certainly would. However, chances that there ever will be such a DvD are abysmal. From what we know it doesn't seem like any deleted scenes were archived. Moreover it doesn't seem likely that Don Bluth or any other member of the production teem would be interested in giving some audio comment about it 20 years later.

I'd only buy it if it had something really cool, like the unedited scenes.
As for LBT XIII, looks like its the Wisdom of Friends, well at least they got some celebreties to give their voice to the project.

Hmm....well, I for one am a little nervous about this one. When I heard the title I was hoping for something amazing.  Upon reading the description of the film...I don't know; it doesn't sound like it will have a lot of substance.  I do hope I'm wrong though! :D
Title: Land Before Time XIII
Post by: Malte279 on September 28, 2007, 02:10:42 AM
Same here. I have been misjudging a good movie by the shrill look of a character on the cover before and I don't want to do so again. But still there are discouraging signs about this one. I hope that that clean computer game animation look of the cover does not reflect any kind of animation in the movie (as there were similar looking covers before there may be no need to fear about this one). But the movie description doesn't sound encouraging:
Quote
Littlefoot and friends meet two yellow-bellied Beipiaosauruses and decide to help them find their way back home. On the way, Littlefoot and the others share important life lessons, called Wisdoms, with their new friends, only to learn that the Yellow Bellies silly techniques work just fine.
"Help them on their way back home" is not exactly a new topic fro an LBT story. "Life lessons, called Wisdoms", sounds like it might be moralizing, and "silly techniques" really rings an alarm bell as far as I am concerned. Perhaps I am just narrow minded but the characters I would associate with the term "wisdom" do not look like those two circus characters. But once again I have been wrong before about judging a movie by the cover and I sure hope that I am doing so once again even if it meant that I didn't learn from a previous mistake. Sometimes being totally wrong feels so much better than being right about something.

This film is basically aimed at little kids, I Wish the series woiuld have a sequel more like the first few, where there was real danger real tension. I haven't sensed that in the past few films, they seem to be blending together almost..

So far it looks even more "kidified" than...well....anything else I've seen so far. That's not good. I want tension, surprises, drama, characters that aren't one-demensional...I might see this one purely out of curiosity.

All these statements I agree with, but we must also remember that this is The Land Before Time. You know, a series targeted at not-quite-our-age-group? But, yes, this one does have the appearance of being "worse" than the others. Let's just hope the statement "don't judge a book by it's cover" proves true.

They had gotten into a little deal where, instead of releasing a movie every year, that they were "slipping behind" (if you can even call it that) and releasing them a few months later than a year, but from this, they seem to want to get back into an expected December releasing again for every year. I hope these don't start "coming off of an assembly line", so to speak.

I think it's actually smart, what they are doing.  The way they scheduled the releases, they are avoiding the competition with "Pirates of the Caribbean".  If they had released right at christmas, they probably wouldn't have as many sales, due to the competition.

Well the sales should be up this time around :) I am going to pre order mine on Amazon.com :) this will add to my personally collection :) I really look forward to getting LBT 13.

I knew of the story line since Augest last year, I was just not aloud to tell anyone... but now the plot is out I can :D and I can say that I saw the very story board drawings and short point writing under each frame. At the time it was amazing to see each sneek peak frame of about a few minutes or so into this story.

I wouldn't tell much about what I saw since it could ruin the very point of seeing the very film. I haven't seen any of the animatation just some of the story line board of a section a small section of the movie. Still I can't wait to see LBT 13 :)

If you notice, in the tv series, the characters look rather...well...different because they were rushed.  I wonder how Ruby would look in an actual sequal.  We've only seen her "rushed" version.  I bet she'd look totally different.  I'm glad that they're not gonna put them in this sequal.  The tv series seems kinda dead.  I wonder if they stop making them then they'll never put them in a sequal?

We have no clue when they came to the great valley.  Since none of them ever grow in size, they could have come 5 years after LBT 12 while LBT 13 could have been a month from LBT 12.  Time really doesn't exist in the land before time. :P:

Loofah, Doofah, and Foobie. Hmm. The odds are certainly stacked against us on this one. I'll probably enjoy this film, regardless, but I imagine that this may tick off some of the more "serious scrutinizers" here that rate these things like Star Wars films.

The key question is, what do we perceive the word "Time" to mean?  Do we want it to mean the representation of a revolution or of a time period?

It being the former, it would mean the same thing, while it being the latter, it would mean the opposite.  Sorta confusing, but you get the idea.

Clearification:

does it really mean "the land before our time (time meaning the invention of the concept, making the two mean the same thing)?

"land before our time" = "the land before our perception of time"?

*sigh*.  I don't think I'm making any sense. -_-  This is really gonna be confusing for those on the board whose native language isn't English!  :lol

Land before time = The land before the creation of time the way we see it. For exemple pre-history, is the time before history started to be documented, before time, means before time began to be measured.

The fun begins when Littlefoot and his friends try to guide two goofy and seemingly inept yellow-bellied dinos, Loofah and Doofah (voiced by Gooding Jr. and Oh), back to their herd. Along the way, Littlefoot realizes that their comically strange survival techniques demonstrate a different kind of 'wisdom'.

Uhhhh, is it just me or does this sound like a sorta boring movie? :(  If that's all the movie is gonna be about, the songs are probably gonna be awful :cry Sorry if I'm being a little pecimistic.

BONUS FEATURES:
* Yellow Bellies on the Loose! Collect enough berries so the Yellow Bellies will stay in a group. The Yellow Bellies are out of control. They just can't seem to follow Littlefoot's 'wisdom' to stay in a group. The only things that seem to gain their attention are their love of berries.

Loofah, Doofah and Foobie are eager to know what the right wisdom is for each of their dilemmas to help guide them home. Help steer the Yellow Bellies in the right direction all the way back to Berry Valley.
* "The Hidden Canyon" - An exclusive episode from the hit "Land Before Time" TV series
* Sing-a-longs including the "Yellow Belly Bounce," "How Do You Know"

I'm sorry Universal, but there is a limit to what I can handle. :(  "Oops-Eeps" almost crossed the line, but I'm sure "Yellow Belly Bounce" will cross it.

Well according to Amazon.com it's coming out November 27th. The same day in fact that it seems like the second installment DVD of the cartoon comes out.

http://www.amazon.com/Land-Before-Time-Tim...4870721&sr=1-12 (http://www.amazon.com/Land-Before-Time-Times-Friends/dp/B000WDTO8E/ref=sr_1_12/105-3025325-2782055?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1194870721&sr=1-12)

If you judged the movie by it's cover I could tell you right now the movie will suck. But, since you can't judge a book by it's cover you should give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. :)

I already told you it was coming out on the 27th.  The judgement wasn't based on the cover at all.  I was just saying that it sucked.  I'm basing the low opinion on the summary of the story and the song titles.

I don't think you should judge the movie so harshly based on what little knowledge is available. Best to see the movie first before saying it sucks.

Now wait.  I never said that LBT 13 sucked.  I just said that I wasn't optimistic about it because of what I've heard so far.  All I said was that the cover sucked.  I don't think LBT 13 will be very good, but I can't say it sucks cuz I haven't seen it.

Now I'm not too sure abou the rest of you here, but at the bottom of my screen I see ads for Ebay selling LBT DVD's and VHS tapes...etc. but I just saw something that made me do a double take!

I saw on the Ebay selling list ~The Land Before Time XIII: The wisdom of friends for $14.47!...now according to several other members here it's not supposed to be released until the 27th of November...does anyone else see something wrong with that?!?!

I think Littlefoot looks a little strange on the cover. I think it's his face that looks a bit odd to me...hmm. Loofah, Doofah, and Foobie?

...

Berry Valley? Hey, at least we get to see, well, a valley other than the Great Valley. I'm guessing Berry Valley won't be shrouded in mists.

On the plus side, at least the extras include more than character profiles and horrible games.

So what do you guys think of the song "Yellow Belly Bounce"?  Just thinking about it makes me feel sick... :( I can guarentee you that it will not be one of my favorite songs. :p

How childish can it get before I have to flick off the tv you ask?......not much more than "oops-eeps" I can assure you. <_<   (although that was on the computer, not the tv :lol )

I can't wait anymore!  I gotta see it now!  I have to find a way to see it.  The 27th is too far away! God!  They have to have them now on trucks to be shipped to walmart and stuff.  Some trucker should steal like 10 copies and sell them for a thousand bucks online or something. :lol  If I were a trucker, I'd bring along my laptop and open up the LBT dvd that is in the back of my truck.  Get it before anyone else! :D

Well it has to be if it's gonna be out in 11 days.  They need a lot of time to make the dvd's in the factory and to ship them out to the stores.  I wouldn't be surprised if they had it done a month ago.  Also, there was a contest you could enter to get a copy of LBT 13 before it's original release and the winner was to be given the prize on the 9th of october, so it's definently done with production.

Not only does it take time to make the disks, but also to do the storyboard sketches, do however many drafts of the scripts, the animations.  Then get the various voice actors in to do their lines.   Then to match the voices up with the animation, do whatever polish, if any, they do.

I'll be picking it up tomorrow myself.  However, you guys won't be getting a review of it from me until Wednesday since I'll only be able to pick it up during work and it'll be late by the time I get home.

Seeing this, I'll have alot planned for Wednesday.  You guys will not only get a review, but I'll also be converting this to .avi on my computer.  I'll provide the lyrics to the songs to Action9000 like always.  I'll also set up the songs for YouTube. (So those of you who can't get it yet will at least see that first.)

Not only will I get LBT 13: The Wisdom of Friends, but I shall also buy both DVDs of the TV Series currently out.  I shall convert those to .avi and put the songs up on YouTube on Thursday.

So, I'll be busy, busy, busy for my off days, and it's all for you guys! :^.^:

Why don't you ask someone from the board to buy a copy for you and send it to you?  That is, unless you live in a different region where you need another region of dvd.  I can deregionize a dvd, but I don't really want to since I don't know if it's legal or not.

Good luck to those buying it today.  Remember to tell the rest of us your thoughts.  I think I"ll wait to see if they'll combine this with 12 onto a double feature dvd.

Some dvd players have menus, sometimes hidden menus to play a dvd from another region.  Plus there is some software that lets you do so on a pc, if you have dvd playing software, without it counting against the region resets.  The only one I heard of is the dvdidle pro one.  I'm sure there are others.

I believe DVD regions go something like:

Region 0 - non-regionalised (i.e. plays on any player)

Region 1 - North America

Region 2 - Europe, Japan, Egypt, Arabia, South Africa

Region 3 - South-east Asia

Region 4 - Central + South America, Australia, New Zealand

Region 5 - India, Russia, Africa, former USSR countries

Region 6 - China

Region 7 - unused

Region 8 - Airlines, cruise ships

Region 9 - spare

Not that I am aware of, but I just might not have heard about it (Wikipedia being the only place, but we all know how THAT goes...).

Dunno if this has been said before yet, but I've managed to locate an "pencilled" release date for the Region 2 release of LBT 13. Play.com has advertised it to be released on 3rd March 2008 at about £7.99 (apparently 2 quid cheaper than RRP). Those of you in Europe still awaiting the date, make a note of 3/3/08. Play.com does have a bad habit of pre-empting dates and getting them a little inaccurate but it is normally only by a few weeks (if any).

Just thought you guys that haven't seen it yet would like to know!  ;) Just another friendly, smiley service provided by your GOF admin team!  :D
