Title: Music Video in the Works
Post by: Petrie. on June 23, 2007, 10:02:03 PM
Yes, believe it or not, I'm actually going to make one on my own.  My only other attempt of sorts was working in conjuction with Kacie on the Petrie one in my sig that came out beautifully.

For you Cera fans, this one is mainly about her and her mean / grouchy attitude in the first film.

ooh.  I can't wait.  Too bad the first film comes in so bad.  Oh well.  It is an old movie...

What song are you using?

What do you mean it comes in so bad?

Dull colors, bad animation, horrible resulution, the whole movie is just crap when it comes to graphics.  It's really too bad that the best LBT movie has the worst graphics.  They really should remake it with more modern technology.  I would certainly buy it again if they remastered it.  As it is now, I haven't seen the first one in nearly two years.  It just bothers me the way it comes in.  It's still by far my favorite one though.  I just like the story.

I don't see anything wrong with the animation of the first movie. Movies don't need modern day technology to have great animation. I'm not saying modern day movies, where animation is helped by computers, are bad. But it would be nice to see more traditional animated movies, like Land Before Time.

I don't think they are going to remake The Land Before Time. I wouldn't want them to either. Restore it, yeah. Remake it, no.

Well that's what I meant.  Restore it.  Yeah.  I personally prefer as little hand drawn stuff as possible.  It makes the movie come in better in my opinion.

Animated movies (the 2-D kind) has to be drawn by hand. I prefer that kind of stuff. It's more rewarding when most of the work is done by hand than by computer.

As my art teacher said, anything they can do with computer can also be done by hand.

Back to the topic, I'm interested in seeing this music video, Petrie. ^^

I'm planning on working on it today.  It'll be up on youtube by the evening.  Song's a secret for now, but it very scary how well it matches what I'm showing on screen. ;)

I disagree. Compared to some of the later sequels I think the original, mostly handdrawn LBT movie does not show more animation mistakes (and certainly not as striking examples as we see in some of the sequels). As for the resolution I don't understand the problem at all... did you watch the movie on an original DvD?
And what exactly is the problem you are addressing when complaining about the graphics?
I must say that some of the sequels really messed up with their modern animation techniques (LBT 7, 8, and 10 provide some of the most striking examples). While I do not oppose the introduction of modern computer animation to LBT in general I do think something is lost with the passing of handdrawn animation.

Did you upload the video, Petrie? I don't see it on YouTube at all.

Could be taking a very long time to encode into youtube's flv format.  The original raw file was a 36mb Windows Media video file.

If you want the raw file after seeing it on youtube I have no problem putting it on yousendit for a few days.  The quality is superb for a triple transcode (DVD -> DIVX -> WMV) and you don't see any grain unless you're looking too hard for it. ^^

I've uploaded WMV files to YouTube before, and it usually doesn't take this long for the file to show up. I wonder what is taking so long.

Nope.  I bought the original dvd and then ripped it to the computer and threw away the original.  I never watched it on anything but a computer and the old vhs that has lines through it.

To Petrie:
Use filefront.  It's much better and you can download it or stream it!  Just go to filefront.com and upload the video and post the link here.  You don't even need to be registered!  Also, there's unlimited downloads!

That was an excellent video Petrie!  It must just be my copy of the original cuz it came in really good in the music video.  Looks like I'm off to the video store to buy another one. :(

Anyway, I would really like a download of this.  Would you please put it on filefront?  Please?  My wifi is only 1000ft range and I never seem to be in range when I want to watch stuff off youtube.

That song fit it perfectly!  I was amazed!  I don't mind music so long as it comes with a video.  Now if I had listened to that song without your video, I would have hated it and thought it was annoying.  Now I can say that I like the song!

How's about the next one you do you use transition effects?  I love those!  I don't think they would have worked well with this music video though.

My overall opinion of this:
It was great!  I could find no faults and I like the fact that it's simply about Petrie.

And you are seriously surprised about a "horrible solution"?
Honestly, I suppose if it comes to that the only LBT movie ever shown on the big screen was better than any of the sequels. If only it was watched in an original version and on a proper screen I'm quite sure you would see that.

Is it possible that you created this video some time ago already Petrie? I'm quite sure I have seen it before.

That's funny.  I think I have too.  Perhaps you posted the wrong link?

well all the other movies I ripped turned out great.  LBT or otherwise.  Something must have gone wrong in the encoding process...

You saw the video, landbeforetimelover? I can't. The video's still not available. Or are you referring to the Petrie vid?

Recent changes have been made to YouTube.  They make it unable for you to see the link when it's done uploading.  You can still get the link to the video before it is done processing completely, but until then, no one will be able to see it.

To get it, go to the "My Videos" link at the top.  It should be up at the top but still uploading.  Click on the Edit my Video button and in the embedded HTML section, you should see a link written twice in that mumbo-jumbo stuff.  Copy it, and it will be yours to paste whereever you wish. :)

Go ahead and try it.  Remember, due to these new changes, it could take up to a full day before anyone is allowed to see it. :o

This is the one Petrie said he was uploading. The Petrie vid has been up for months now. I helped Petrie make the Petrie video.

I was confused too. I did see the Petrie video which I think is Petrie's older music video which was in his signature all along.
Very good job Petrie :yes
I didn't see the other video, the one about Cera, though.

If only Petrie had used filefront.  None of us would be in this mess.

That's something I have a hard time with.  I wanna see this video almost as much as I wanted to see lbt 12 when it first came out!

I was a mess waiting for LBT 12 to arrive in the mail that I almost went mad.  I had better go take apart a computer to take my mind off things...

I said, if people want, I don't mind making a high quality version available for download, but if I only did that, I'd have about fifteen people see it....with youtube, essentially, the world could see it (plus I put a shameless plug to this board in the credits!   )
