Dihydrogen monoxide is a very dangerous substance. Here is a summary of it's killing ability:
"Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death."
But, high ranking people have succeeded in hiding the existence of this dangerous substance from normal people like you and me. I had never even heard of the stuff before today. But don't you be fooled! Visit the Dihydrogen Monoxide Research Division (http://www.dhmo.org/) website to get the real story. Your life, or the life of someone you care about, may depend on it.

(before you say "what an idiot" I know what I'm doing, as I saw the original thing, and took chemistry :p)
This is a VERY hazardous chemical, and should be done away with before its too late!
It's so bad around here there's even hydroxide acid in our rain! Where will it end?
It increases the rate of rusting around here, and is VERY, VERY explosively reactive with rubidium, cesium, and francium in their pure forms, and it's found in our taps here too!
-
Yes, it is very dangerous! Oh it is also used on the International Space Station and in the production of some aircraft parts.
-
I heard it's partially to blame for Hurricane Katrina's damage, as well as many other serious natural disasters
It causes sinkholes and mudslides, and the government even relies on it for power! What is wrong with the world?
-
Oh yes, it's a real threat :D
It has seemingly contradictory qualities, it can make us seem lighter, or we can drown in it ;)
Why, in several movies in the land before time series, the characters were threatened by it in some way!
To top it off, Dihydrogen monoxide was present at every naval battle in history!
It has to be stopped!
-
If they really use DHMO at coffeehouses and in the production of the coffee then I should be dead if even small amounts can do you in. I think we need to really worry about carbon monoxide even more since that can be created by things like cold water heaters and furnaces and fireplaces in the home and with no ventilation and faulty systems, you're really in trouble then.
-
But dihydrogen monoxide can be found everywhere! In can even be found in your city's water supply! Shoot, you can even find it in popular bottled waters like Dasani, or even in other drinks bought at the store! And it's addictive! Once you're addicted, a prolonged lack of exposure to it will KILL YOU!!!
-
I heard they even sell this stuff, sometimes even filled in bottles and mixed with carbonic acid and stuff to make it more "tasty" for the poor wretches who feel dependent on drinking that stuff! Mankind's addiction to this horrible substance has reached an alarming degree indeed. Scientists say that a human body can consist of this dreadful stuff up to 70%!!!
Is that why mankind is so dangerous on itself? Is that the casus Homo homini lupus?

but DHMO IS in at least 2 of the 3 things you mentioned, and fireplaces may contain trace amounts too! especially if you're using natural logs, they're infected with it!
It could potentially be the way we take in many diseases as well!

:bang :bang :bang
Don't ask. :P:
-
I ask. :lol
-
Let's just say I don't know how I passed chemisty in high school because I understood practically nothing and remember nothing now. If you can't figure out why I'm banging my head against the wall, I don't imply things too well. :P:
-
I recall a news story about this chemical killing someone around when the Wii came out...
oddly... one of the few things that doesn't contain it... sometimes alcoholic beverages don't... so maybe that's an advantage they have?
WORST OF ALL! This chemical is used in the sterilization of surgical gloves.......
-
The world governments have certainly done a good job in hiding this addictive substance from all of us.
-
but have they? or have the masses just stayed ignorant? It's probably within 20 feet of you now!
-
Shaddup. I'm no chemistry major.
-
in all honesty that wasn't directed at anyone, but for leaving yourself open... one doesn't need to be a chemistry major to fear this chemical, it's all around!
-
Ok, you don't get it....I didn't know what the fancy name meant!
-
Should we tell him all we know, Tails_155? I really don't think he even knows what dihydrogen monoxide is.
-
no, just let those that know play along, and those that don't are going to have to learn, study sinks in better than outright answers!
-
But he needs to know that dihydrogen monoxide is so common that many every-day people come into contact with it in some from or another every day of their lives. In fact, at one time or another, every human being becomes addicted to it at one point in their lives or another and from that point on, has to then on out consume it, or if they go too long without it, they will DIE. I'm an addict, myself.

Petrie knows very well now :p Don't worry

Oh, what did you do? :p PM him? :lol

maybe... -glances innocently up ant to the left like in cartoons using really long unnecessary descriptions kind of like this one right here that was being typed late at night for me but that's what happens when I check forums this late at night you know what I mean? It's not like I HAVE to, I just do...- (this 20 seconds of your life you'll never get back if you read for content has been brought to you by Tails_155)

Ordinarily, I would say that you are drunk, but seeing that it is past midnight, I'll say it's sleep deprivation causing your posting problems. :lol I've seen this before on other boards. Get some sleep, and come back tomorrow. :^.^:

I ain't falling for this. :p
-
Me neither. WARNING!!! THIS IS A HOAX! DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE IS JUST ANOTHER TERM FOR WATER!!! DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!! Di=double. Two hydrogen atoms. Mono=single. H2+O=WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I fell for this hoax before. I knew there was something fishy about the name "dihydrogen monoxide". I knew I heard it somewhere before.
-
Don't worry, I wasn't paying attention and I fell for it too! :lol :lol
Grrrr, yeah I've heard this one before :p I even took chemistry in high school and in college. Meh :p My mind is wandering, that's my excuse.
In my defense, I figured it out before I read the post a couple up from here. B)
-
you guys made this no fun :( what good is a joke that has to be spoiled?
Don't MAKE me start a spoiler thread ("GO")
-
Sorry. :(

This vicious stuff Dihydrogen monoxide even had some prominent victims. Frederick I Barbarossa, holy Roman Empire was killed by Dihydrogen monoxide in 1190, so was King Magnus II of Sweden and Norway, and Bartolomeu Dias (Portugese Explorer who first sailed around the Cape of Good Hope). King Ludwig II of Bavaria (the one who built Neuschwanstein) also was a victim to Dihydrogen monoxide. The famous writer Virginia Woolf killed herself deliberately with Dihydrogen monoxide. These are just a few of the more prominent victims to Dihydrogen monoxide. The list goes on.

Thanks for spoilin' it, matey. :p Well, it was a good joke while it lasted.
Well, at least I have the satisfaction of scamming Petrie and action9000. :lol

The root admin should be worth 100 members, and the minion admins 50 members.
1 member = 1 person
1 admin = 1 person
Person importance on a message board does not change the fact that everyone here is a person. :P:
'nuff said.
-
no, we got a couple POSTERS, no telling who all read and didn't post, and no telling how many potential candidates we could've gotten
and it's not a hoax in the form of making a fool out of any one person, it's showing the ignorance people have that they try to cover up by going to things they know nothing about, remember it was done first at an environmental convention
-
It's neither a hoax, or really even a "scam" (I just called it that because I made people think that water was something it wasn't even though I told truth; the others involved in this know what I mean). Dihydrogen monoxide (two hydrogen one oxygen) is just another term for water, as Cyberlizard pointed out.
-
If that hoax makes fun of anything, then it is exaggerated scientist language. I think it was a good laugh and nobody needs to feel personally attacked.
-

Agreed. I thought it was actually pretty funny. :p

so someone finally spilt the beans did they? I was starting to wonder when someone would speak up and say its water. :lol
