Title: USB cable modem trouble...
Post by: The Great Valley Guardian on November 15, 2007, 08:38:09 PM
Yeah recently I bought an Apple external V.92 modem for my Mac computer, and the computer is supposed to recongize it as a new modem, but it won't. I've been trying for three days to get this to work...I may just have to take it up to the Apple Store in Orland Park tommorow...

What are your professional opinions?

I"ve no Mac experience at all.  Usually Apple is pretty good about their software and products fitting like a nice glove.  You could have a DOA modem.  I'd take it back and get another and see if it happens again.

If you're trying to install it on a PC, my advise would be: don't.  If you're installing in on a mac, then make sure you have your internet settings correct in the control panel.  Mac 10.4 tiger is pretty good about that, but 10.1 is terrible with that.  Having it recognize automatically is too much to expect with a mac.  You'll probably have to manually imput a lot of information. <_<
