Title: GOF as homepage
Post by: landbeforetimelover on November 27, 2007, 09:27:58 AM
I don't have GOF set as the home page, but I am the only one who uses my computer.  Google just comes up faster.  I like a fast home page and I don't always go to GOF first when I want to go to the internet.  How many of you out there have GOF set as your home page?  I know someone does. :D

I use google since it comes up quick, a habit from when I had dial up.  Though I do come here often it's not always the first place I come to.  I can see some here setting this as their home page.

Oh dear... it seems nobody uses it as a front page.

I doesnt really hurt the site's favor factor though ^_^ these forums have become a frequent stop for me ever since my first visit, which in itself is a record.

Maybe I should have it up as my homepage... but there are some occasional guests who request to use my computer, so currently I think its best to stick with Yahoo

While I am the only one to use the Mac computer in the house (and it's in my room to boot! :) ) I tend to go directly to msn.com to check my emails before coming here.

Nope!  I keep Google as my homepage.  It loads very quickly and having a search engine right there can be quite useful. ;)

I just voted "no".  Gmail is my homepage since checking email is always what I do first.  I don't know who is "yes".

Google as my homepage.  I would want to, but I'm not the only one that uses this computer.  My brother does as well. :)

No. I use Opera and have no site set up as default (I don't think Opera has those). The browser just loads up a blank. On Internet Explorer, Yahoo is set up as the homepage.

I don't have the GOF as a starting page that will show up whenever I open my browser. Sometimes I just want to check out something and don't have the time to visit the GOF (as depending on the number of new posts that visit can become rather long). However, unfortunately the system to show unread messages is not perfect in the GOF and messages that were posted before your last visit may be shown as read in spite of the fact that you never actually opened them. Therefore I usually go to the GOF only when I know I will have the time to check out messages which might be overlooked on a later visit if they are no longer marked as new.

Still don't have the GoF as my home page but I've clicked it so much from my Favorites list that I can get to it within 2 seconds of starting up Internet Explorer. :lol

I use firefox 3 with tabbed browsing and I have GOF as one of my favorite bookmarks.  Here's an image of my top bar on firefox:

As you can see, GOF is on the top bar.  It's like a favorite favorites place where you can put favorites as buttons instead of having to go through a list.  Very handy.  I don't need GOF as a home page when I've got this.  Just 1 click and I'm there. :D

That sounds fast.  It takes me 2-3 seconds but I have the link in about 2 layers down.

I have GoF as my homepage now - a lot better than the default Google, I say.

Though I almost always have a window to it open anyways, so it doesn't really matter...(I never turn this computer off unless I have to, and I always have at least five different tabs (today it's eight) open at one time...)
