deep hurting...
DEEP HURTING!
-
I have heard a great deal of this... thing. None of it good. I've also never seen it before, but that should come as no surprise.
-
I couldn't get past the first five minutes of it. It was just too boring!
-
I remember watching it back in the 70's or whenever it first aired. I saw it recently on youtube. Diffidently not up the the quality of the original trilogy. In Weird Al's music video "White and Nerdy" he buys a copy of that from someone.
-
its the only cult classic that George Lucas wishes never exsisted. Or one of the few, I think its at the top of his list of 'seek and destroy'
-
It hurts to watch it. What were they thinking when they made this? Heck, what were they DRINKING when they made this?
-
The opening crawl seemed nothing like Star Wars, but almost like a parody of some sort on Star Wars.

I think someone on Lucas's staff back then had suggested it.
that person is probably still unemployed
-
Still unemployed... if he didn't kill himself out of shame!
-
I wonder how the actors liked having to be in it.

Carrie Fisher denies its existence, I've heard
-
I never seen this movie before. I was never a Star Wars fan.

you don't have to be a fan to enjoy the sheer pain this .... thing... has to offer
its laughably horrible
-
It's so bad in spots its funny. The sort of think one would expect to see on MST3K.
-
This thing is just too silly in certain areas to be taken seriously. Is the cannonocity of it disputed? If so, I could certainly see why....
-
I assume it's not cannon.

Mike Nelson beat you to it. The gang who did do MST3K are about to release a riff on it
-
Mommy, make my head stop hurting!
I'm sure George Lucas probably weeps profusely everytime you mention this little...er, "treasure".

or reject lol
I absolutely refuse to watch this... I LOATHE Star Wars... vehemently
I am happy he helped with LBT... but Lucas has disappointed me several times...
-
I finally brought myself to watch through all of it, which I must admit it to have been a tiring task in some places. I'm not in favor with the fact that video screens were excessively used, and they they shoehorned those songs in in that sneaky manner (though it at least makes it believable). The animated short that they shoehorned in seemed to not be drawn very well at all. It must have been low budget. It got better near the end, but it seemed to be a fairly senseless and silly venture overall. Overall, though, I'm glad to have been able to finally witness this, er, interesting addition to the Star Wars franchise that I have never been, er, privileged to have ever seen.
-
Maybe some folks were drunk when they wrote it or something, and made it.
-
That's a common explanation (that and drugs) for when stuff like this gets released, like that odd "Lions Sleep Tonight" thing that goes "a-whee-ma-wha."
-
George Lucas wanted nothing to do with the "project". Frankly I have no igea why he allowed the guys to make it. This, the Ewok movies, the Ewok cartoons, and Jar Jar Binks are a slap in the face to Star Wars fans everywhere.
-
He didn't allow it. That was back in the day before he had any real control that wasn't granted to him by 20th Century Fox. It was only later that he became a serious presence enough to "own" Star Wars.
-
It sounds like that. I would guess he gained control somewhere around episode 5, or 6.
-
Yeah, I think that 20th Century Fox realized he was the reason the original was such a hit and let him buy all the rights to Star Wars properties to do with them as he wishes, or least that's what I can figure happened. It was 20th Century Fox that owned SW before Lucas did. through Star Wars Lacus was able to start his own filmmaking business and capitalized big time as a producer over the years. Too bad his actual writing and directing skills (meager as they were to begin with) wasted away doing that, though.
I know those last remarks sound like insult, but they're not. I'm just saying that Lucas made a good, fun movie called "Star Wars" where the only thing that really stood out were the technical aspects of the project. His directing skills weren't fancy, but they served their purpose. The same goes for his writing. The wise words from Oi-Wan just sounded great because of the actor who delivered them.
-
I have a copy of it. It is so bad, it is funny.
I need to find my copy. Maybe George Lucas abducted it.
-
Well.. today's the day
Mike Nelson and the cast of MST3K will be ripping this crudbucket a new one!
