you've played an Apogee game...
Hocus Pocus
Monster Bash
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
Captain Keen
Duke Nukem
Wolfenstein 3D
Crystal Caves
Secret Agent
So many well known games... I don't know which is more amazing, that one third-party company has so many well-known games, or that all of these games are still on sale (http://www.3drealms.com/games.html)
Which games have you played? Which ones were your favorites? What levels drove you crazy? And what tricks got you through them?
-
Ahh yes, now These are classics!
I've played all the games above that you mentioned, with the exception of Hocus Pocus. I can't remember who made some of my old favs back in the day but Apogee is a name that rings a bell, for sure!
Wacky Wheels and Skunny Kart were great games, though I forget who made them. Think of it as "before Mario Kart there were Skunny Kart and Whacky Wheels" and you'll get the idea. :p
Let me think, classics I enjoyed, back on my old 486 with Windows 3.1 and DOS...
Whacky Wheels
Skunny Kart
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
Cyberdogs (2 player overhead-view 3rd person shooter)
Body Count
Corridor 7 (Used the Wolfenstein 3d engine)
Dark Forces
Doom
Scorched Earth (See "Atomic Tanks", a remake of Scorched Earth for Windows and Linux)
Ohh, there must be more!

which Apogee games were your favorites? They're all on the "on sale" link list at the bottom
-
I see the list now! :slap :p
Yeah, Wacky Wheels, Commandeer Keen, Crystal Caves and Raptor were my favorites at the time!
EDIT: Dang..I tried installing Wacky Wheels from the website but it doesn't work at all in 64-bit Windows. The installer gives me an error. :(

try something like DOSBox
-
I don't reckon I've ever played an Apogee game before.
-
I've only played Wolfenstein 3D. It was really good, but mom caught me playing it 8 years ago when I was 8 and took it from me. Little did she know, it was on the computer, not the floppy and I had made backups. Waaahahaha! :lol
-
they have a lot more good games too LBTL ;)
-
I played Stargunner and Death Rally... both awesome games of their time.
-
I played some Wolfenstein 3d, kept getting lost so quit the demo. Played some Duke Nukem, not sure which of the side scrollers, for a bit.
-
RISE OF THE TRIAD!!
I love that game! So many fun things to do! I actually bought the full version in the end!
And BioMenace is pretty good too. Even better is that they released the full version for free (In the second game, you get to turn into one of those blobs! And there's a secret room where the Apogee programmers wait with props from Commander Keen and Duke Nukem. They give you powerups and tell you to leave). Duke Nukem 1 and 2 are also fun.
My old old school used to have Math Quest and Word Quest, so seeing them there was pretty cool.
Good old Apogee.

I remember playing these golden oldies! Games like Commander Keen, Wolf 3D, Doom and the like. I still have a few of them. Y'know...purely for nostalgic reasons ;)
