Title: Now that you've named your best...
Post by: Petrie on April 10, 2005, 10:00:16 AM
So what animated films should have never been made and why.

We're Back: A Dinosaurs Story  - Speilberg sure had a fascination with dinosaurs but I think he could've skipped this one.  For some reason I just never liked the way this was animated.  I know it most certainly wasn't supposed to be accurate (I suppose parades are fine) but I think the instance of bringing magic all around to make dinosaurs talk to humans went too far.

(Disney) Hunchback of Notre Dame - I saw it once--in theaters and have not watched it since.  I'd have to actually watch it again to remind me why I won't put it in but it had something to do with very bland characters.

The Rugrats Movie - just like Hunchback, saw it in theaters (guess I had nothing better to do) and won't even watch it again given the chance; I never liked this company's animation style--that's really what turns me off, plus those characters get annoying with all their screaming.

Garfield the Movie - at least the tv series was funny; I didn't find this funny...tried to but it didn't work.  Surprised Odie and Nermal weren't CG as well.

1. The Lord of the Rings (1978) Directed by Ralph Baskshi(t).
Lazily-rotoscoped, inconsistent animation styles, inaccurate characterizations all around, terrible character designs (none of them looked the way they were described in the books), live-action people shot at high-contrast mixed in, and did I mention that he tells the story of BOTH "The Fellowship of the Ring" AND "The Two Towers" in one 2 1/2 hour movie? Oh, and they decided to call "Sarumon" "Arumon", but then would forget and sometimes call him "Sarumon" anyway.
Need I say more?

2. Brother Bear (2003).
I'd go into it, but I'll need at least a whole page's worth to tell all. And, it was back in 2003 when I last saw it.

3. We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story (1993)
What Arvens said.

4. An American Tale: Fievel Goes West. (1991)
The fact that Spielberg was arrogant enough to think they could do a "American Tail" movie without Don Bluth and Gary Goldman says it all. The brilliance that John Cleese brings to the screen in his flamboyant and hilarious performance as the villain is this film's only redeeming quality. All I have to say is: What a waste of John Cleese.

5. Balto: Wolf Quest.
None of the original voices, a nonsensical plot, annoying songs,  new, annoying protagonist, and sub-par animation. AAAAAAAAAUUUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wr, don't forget James Stewart in his final film role. That was a redeeming quality, although both Cleese and Stewart were wasted in this film. It didn't have the same magic as the original. And the other two DTV sequels have been nothing special.

Yeah, but just about any other voice actor could have brought Wiley Berp to life just as well.

  :x  :o Barbi and the Majic of Pegash*t.  The made us watch this crapola in school even the boys!  This is without doubt the gayest, dumbest, stupidest, freakiest, and funkiest stupid movie I have ever had the mispleasure to wittness.  AAAAAG!

For what educational purposes do they show a Barbi movie at school?
You have my sympathy I suppose though I don't want to overdo it. Having never actually seen a Barbi movie I can only guess what it must be like (and that guess sure wouldn't be anything I would want to see in reality). If I talked too much about something I've never seen I reckon it would put me on the same low level as those who slander LBT without having ever seen it.

That day, we had a substatute.  She didn't hand ut any of the work the teacher left for us.  I have no clue why she made us watchBarbi of all things.  I mean, it has no educational value whatsoever.  She was also mean.  She was, um, what is that technical term I'm looking for, um, a bitch.  (parden the use of dialog there.)  Hey, how can Barbi have so many jobs?  I mean, there is swim team barbi, Dentist barbi, you name it, they've got it.  Why don't they have a terrorist or suicide bomber barbi?

Because too much of the truth about Barbie would shine through if they did.
Title: Now that you've named your best...

Regarding the fact that Barbie appears to have a million jobs:

Every fantasy series has its own "idea" of reality.  In LBT, the dinosaurs can speak human languages and have advanced brain capacity.  This is equally as believeable as Barbie being trained in Scuba diving and dentistry as far as I'm concerned.  It's the same basic idea in a different context.  It's simply the nature of fantasy.

I know of a lot of animated movies AND shows I don't like.  I don't rank the animations I hate like top 10 or stuff like that.  I just name them randomly.

1. Poke'mon (The show and the movies.  GOD FORBID!  I can't believe I was in to that suff way back when.)

2. Eight Crazy Nights (WTF is with the talking commercial logos?!)

3. Spongebob Squarepants (How stupid can they get?!)

4. Fairly Odd Parents (Feakin weak!  Bad animation, poor plot and everything.)

5. Jimmy Neutron (What's with the rocket with the open cab where Jimmy's large head could explode from decompression?!)

Once again I'm terribly sorry!   :slap  :slap  :slap  :slap  :bang  :bang  :bang  :bang  :bang  :bang  :bang  I just like to watch extremly violent Sci Fi movies insead of kid shows on Nickelodeon.  My sister is 12 years old and can't stop watching Nick and I get extremly sick of constantly watching Spongebob.  She also always has a death grip on the remote control.

Having rarely watched "real" anime, I can't say for sure.  All I can say is, from what I've seen, I'm not much of a fan of it.  I just couldn't get into it.

As for my choices on "worst animated films"

- Cinderella 2.  Why? Honestly!
- Oliver and Company.  From day one, I wasn't impressed.
- The Lion King 2: Not terrible, but certainly not the same epic story and emotion of the original
- The Lion King 1 1/2.  Same reason, but more so.

and my #1 vote for "worst animated film"?

-Beavis and Butthead Do America....*shudder* - Never saw it, don't plan on it.

I actually haven't seen many animated films (or Any films, for that matter) recently, so not much is coming to mind.

Tell me about it.  Some sequels I actually liked though.  Shrek 2, all the LBT sequels, I want to see Ice Age 2, Spider Man 3, and Pirates of the Carribean 2.  Spider Man 1 and 2 were great with 2 being the best.

Mewtwo was cool, Cyber.   (only if you watched the Japenese dub with English subtitles since the English audio dub gives the film an entirely different meaning)  -_-

I do agree with Disney sequels....its a cash cow, and shareholders like it so.....that's what they'll do....

I was never really a fan of most Disney films.  I find the old early 20th century films are ok.  But most of the 21st century films aren't very good, especially the sequels to the early 20th century films.  How unconsious.

RogerRabbit: When I was growing up I used to like Poke'mon and Mewtwo was my favorite, until Lugia came along, then he was my SECOND fave.  I guess I've out grown it.

I loved many of the films produced in the early-mid 1990s.
"The Lion King"
"Aladdin"
"Terminator 2"
"Demolition Man"
"Speed"
"LBT 2"
"LBT 3"
now "LBT4" though I didn't love it so much when it first came out
"Beauty and the Beast"
"Jumanji"
"Jurassic Park"

and the list goes on.  What a great era for movies, especially Disney movies.  I really didn't like many Disney movies outside this era.  The classics never really interested me all that much, and the later ones, as F-14 Ace puts it, kinda stink.

I LOVE "Mystery Science Theatre 300".  That show is HILARIOUS.  I pee my pants laughing.  Sadly though, you can only get the eps on DVD because the reruns were taken off the airwaves two years ago.

I would have posted these in the "upcomming films you don't want to see" thread however, I just realized it was locked.
1. Happy feet.  That movie looks so dumb!  That penguin in the preview is so annoying!  I just wanted to blow it away with a rocked launcher!  Perhaps a tank.  I hated the preview.  Especially when it said "I love you!" in that annoying voice.  BANG! No more annoying penguin!    :x  :mad
2. Cars.  Don't even get me started.   :x
3. Stay Alive.  A video game where you get murdered for real if your player dies in the game???   Come on!  How stupid.  And there is a way to play that game and not die.  It is called cheat codes. What were those producers smoking? <_<

Garfield: Please don't get me started about how much I hated this movie. A little part of me died when I saw the preview for the sequeal for this movie on my TV.

Hoodwinked: I didn't really like this film very much.

Other then that can't say I have any other movies that I have seen that I haven't liked I am very easy too please. I would have mentioned Doogal but I didn't think it counted because  when I saw the preview for it it looked so bad I didn't even waste money on seeing it.

Me neither. Maybe I would have liked it more if it weren't so fake. It should have been animated not CGI and if it was CGI Garfield's mouth shouldn't have been moving that was the point he was thinking the things he said.

I'm hearing the very same hatred and lack of respect we would moan about if we read similar lines on the land before time characters. I don't think we should be careless about nuking posts. Though not delightful those were no spam messages or messages written with the intention to do any harm to the GOF. I think it would have been better to keep them as part of the history of the GOF. The possibility to delete messages should never be used without great need. Already it seems like a message has been deleted in the voting for the awards thread that never should have been deleted! If people become too accustomed to delete posts such accidents are more likely to happen.

I doubt it was canceled because it was a "boring show". That is too vague of a reason.

Okay I looked up. Here's the real reason Garfield And Friends was cancelled.

Quote
The seventh season (1994–1995) was the last one because CBS wanted to cut the budget (and in fact, CBS's Saturday morning cartoon lineup would be mostly replaced by CBS News Saturday Morning two years later, which eventually evolved into the Saturday edition of The Early Show). The production company nixed this proposal, so they mutually agreed to cease production, even though Garfield and Friends had still been doing very well in the ratings.

Also to point out, Garfield did better than Extreme Dinosaurs. While Extreme Dinosaurs only lasted in late 1997, September to December, garnering 52 episodes, Garfield And Friends lasted from 1988 to December 1994 (before reruns I mean), and has 121 episodes.

So while you may like Extreme Dinosaurs more, and it's all right if you do, if we wanted to find out which show was more successful, Garfield And Friends wins hand down. It lasted longer, and even in its cancellation, it was due to budget cuts, not from waning public interest. The ratings were still high upon its cancellation.

Garfield and friends was 69 episodes more than Extreme Dinosaurs?
Garfield and friends ended on 1994 and Extreme Dinosaurs began in 1997. That is 3 years later than Garfield and friends!
Release date of:
Land Before Time 1: 18 November 1988
Land Before Time 2: 12 December 1994
Land Before Time 3: 15 December 1995
Land Before Time 4: 10 December 1996
Extreme Dinosaurs: 1 September 1997

Most of path's post's are kinda of spamming but I'm trying not to say anything. And laughing at pointless things is getting kinda annoying. But I never liked Extreme Dinosaurs much at all I saw a handful of episodes and thought it was awful but some of it was okay. Garfield And Friends was a amazing show. It had better animation and the jokes where very good and funny. Binky The Clown was also very funny kinda annoying but he made the show great. The humor out of Garfield's mouth was just perfect. And the other half of the show with the barnyard characters was also good and again the jokes where spot on. So I pick Garfield And Friends Over Extreme Dinosaurs any day of the week. Wasn't a fan of Extreme Dinosaurs at all.

Some episodes of Extreme Dinosaurs are weird. Let's see:
Episode 4: How can the raptors think that the eggs are raptors? Oh please, Bad Rap, stop thinking you will have a raptor army when the eggs hatch into raptors!
Episode 6: Where did Bullzeye get that from?
Episode 8: Why Spittor became an artist?
Episode 10: Why Spittor constructed the Cyber-raptors?
Episode 13: Why Spike is the chef?
Episode 17: This is the first time the Extreme Dinosaurs shrink themselves.
Episode 18: Why the raptors and the Extreme Dinosaurs went to the moon?
Episode 22: What? The raptors point the UFO to shoot everywhere?
Episode 29: REBECCA SCARWELL! I WILL GET YOU FOR THIS! :anger
Episode 30: I like Halloween!
Episode 40: How come the Extreme Dinosaurs become warriors?
Episode 49: Bullzeye has the bone to pick on others. This is weird
Episode 52: Why the Extreme Dinosaurs and the raptors have a vacation?
I checked these episodes and I am sure that these episodes are very funny.

Older? Ah okay. That makes more sense.

I liked Garfield And Friends growing up myself. When I was little, I used to watch it almost every time it was on. I thought it was funny and enjoyable. I've seen more of that show than I did with Extreme Dinosaurs.

Extreme Dinosaurs never caught my interest enough to see more of the episodes. Not that I think it's an awful show or anything. I just never got interested enough to hunt down all 52 episodes and watch them.

Wait, there's an option on InvisionFree to do that?

Yes there is, much like we have the power to ban, suspend or remove a member we can also review his posts before they are posted... It's a lot of work but the only solution at this moment.

I never knew that either. And thank you so much Mumbling. I agree with you Dark I also never got into the show. The few episodes I saw of the show where not that interesting. Some action parts where okay and the animation was alright nothing great. But Garfield And Friends I watched all 121 episodes and I watched the reruns because it was a amazing show with excellent humor.

LBT 13 was the most weirdest show because the Yellowbellies have a big herd of Beipiaosauruses. I am about to run with Chomper, who is waiting for me at the Mysterious Beyond. :p  :wow Help, DarkHououmon, Mumbling, Ducky123, Petrie85! I am about to be dragged to Berry Valley and I will see the master of the Yellowbellies! :wow

They have an ARMY?!? I can't agree on that because neither do they want to fight nor do they actually fight(Well, jumping and bouncing around doersn't count :P:). LBT isn't about war after all hence one can't call them an army. They're a herd( though they're indeed kinda weird and strange :P:) and their aim is to reach the Berry Valley and not to fight( which would be the aim of an army :yes).
LBT 13 IS the worst LBT movie, hands down, but it has some scenes that are quite enjoyable and the message of the movie - to follow wisdoms, but every herd has its own wisdoms.. something like that, dunno :lol - the only problem is the Yellowbellies appear in it :nyah and the animation sucks compared to LBT 11 and 12 for example.

Yeah I agree movie 13 was horrible but some parts looked nice and there was that one song How Do You Know was also very good. Other than that the movie was purely horrible and annoying. Gosh The Yellow Bellies where very annoying and very dumb and they where a pointless add on to the movie. The Animation was okay to look at some times. It caused eye straight since it was CGI and 2-d Animation mixed in that was horrible and painful to look at.

I guess 28% good and 72% horrible for LBT 13. Yeah, I agree that the Yellowbellies are talking nonsense that I will laugh at them. :lol  :DD  :smile
The Yellowbellies are really annoying.
I have a name for the Yellowbellies. Can I name them 'The annoying Yellowbellies'?
Gosh, Ruby and Chomper were at the Mysterious Beyond and Charlies Grosvener is making fun of Ruby again!  :anger He even called her a chicken whore! :anger  :anger

Path Light, I see you always want to reply to this topic. Stop! You're not saying anything new (or anything that makes sense). I keep on having to delete all your replies from here (10 already!)

Stop spamming this topic. Spamming means that you post a lot. Stop spamming. Last chance you'll get since I'm fed up with you.

Supervision means that you will not be able to post, unless I say that your posts are okay. You post a hell of a lot and I'm getting sick of seeing the same stuff over and over again. If your post doesn't come through, it's for a reason.

Also, stop acting like you're cool by saying the yellowbellies are stupid. You're not.

I guess the sharpteeth from LBT 13 scared the Yellowbellies.

Title: Now that you've named your best...

Here's a suggestion for you, Path Light. Try to limit how many times you post a day. Perhaps limit it to just 5, but if that's too little, then 10 (maximum I would suggest). After the 10th post, don't try to post anything else until 8 in the morning the following day. By putting a limit on your posts, you will have to think if the post you are making really adds anything to the topic, and decide what is worth replying to and what isn't. This would be a good exercise in learning how to control your compulsive posting.

I'm not hard on him because I use to do the same thing Path Light did but a lot of you told me to stop and I have done that. I use spam post all the time back in 2011 but I didn't realize it was annoying you guys so after I was told to put a end to it by talking to you Mumbling and Nick I changed my horrible ways on here. And I'm glad Path is gonna straighten up his ways on here. The kid means well just needs to learn to not spam post all the time. Hopefully he has learned his lesson.

I think he meant older. Since the show aired later. Actually nevermind, that doesn't make sense.
I don't like Rebecca Scarwell in Extreme Dinosaurs because she treated the Extreme Dinosaurs and the Raptors the mean way. How about I slap her in the face until she screamed like a high pitch chipmunk lady? Can I call Rebecca Scarwell 'Rebecca Scarwell who talks like a high pitch chipmunk lady'? I will laugh when Rebecca Scarwell spoke in a high pitch chipmunk lady voice. I don't like Peter Benning because he wanted to capture the Extreme Dinosaurs and the Raptors. How about I slap him in the face until he screamed like a high pitch chipmunk lady? Can I call Peter Benning 'Peter Benning who talks like a high pitch chipmunk lady'? I will laugh when Rebecca Scarwell and Peter Benning spoke in a high pitch chipmunk voice.

To me still not a great show since I was alive when it first came out. The story line was very boring and horrible I could only sit through like five episodes before backing out. The voice acting was the worst I ever herd. They couldn't get the voices down at all. And yeah she was a horrible character. Very mean and very awful. Just one of the worst shows ever in my opinion.

Yeah she is a annoying, horrible, mean and awful woman. I am mad at her so here's my option: Slap Rebecca Scarwell in the face! She deserves it because she treated the Extreme Dinosaurs and the raptors in the mean way! What do you think of Peter Benning? I am going to slap his face too! :anger I hope this will teach them a lesson not to treat the Extreme Dinosaurs and the raptors the mean way! :anger Also, I will destory her shrink device in Episode 31  because she shrink the Extreme Dinosaurs and the raptors! Rebecca Scarwell was shocked to see her shrink device destoryed. I will laugh and ask the Extreme Dinosaurs and the raptors that Rebecca Scarwell's shrink device was destoryed. :lol The Extreme Dinosaurs and the raptors had a party called: Toh Chang Yih destoryed Rebecca Scarwell's shrink device in Episode 31. I had a name for Rebecca Scarwell. Can I call her 'Rebecca Scarwell who talks like a high pitch chipmunk lady like Microsoft Mike'? I think she will be annoyed if she saw me making fun of her. :lol

Animated movies I hate, huh? Haha..theres tons of those but I'll only name a couple.

LBT13-Sorry, horrible movie. Cheesy, annoying characters (yellowbellies), seemed rushed for profit. Seriously those last few sequels Universal was just milking the LBT franchise. I hope LBT14 returns to the more serious plot of the original. Please, Universal.

Fox and The Hound 2-It's in the same time as the original yet does not go along with the story of the original one bit, they act like the orignial didn't even exist.

The Lion King 1?: Killed The Lion King, I was hoping they would pick up where TLK2 left off. I would of liked to see Simba have a grandchild. See Kovu as King..but nooooo. We got a film focused on two characters I could care less about. It's The Lion King, this really should of been a spinoff movie. It's NOT a The Lion King movie to me. Though I did actually like The Lion King 2, but Kiara was a bit annoying. Zira was awesome.

Alpha and Omega: The plot seems really rushed, the characters are undeveloped and the one character I do like barely gets any screen time. It's fun to watch once, thats it. And I prefer to pretend those pieces of trash they call sequels do not exist. I mean..Wolves celebrate Christmas and Halloween now even decorating for it and knowing the human terms for everything? No thanks. At least in the first movie they acted like real wolves, expect the fact the  'howling' was singing.

An All Dogs Christmas Carol: Don't get me wrong, I love love love the original All Dogs Go to Heaven movie, but this one was just awful, sorry. I know the original movie had songs but they were not so in-your-face as this one. I remember watching first when I was 8 on Christmas Eve when they aired it, was not impressed at all. Throws off anything that happened in the other two movies, Itchy is meant to be in heaven, Carface is meant to be dead. I know it's a spin-off so thats to be expected but ugh. Makes no sense. These dogs keep dying and coming back to life.

I'm not sure about Carface, but the TV series explains why Itchy is on Earth. I forget the details, but something about him being permitted to stay there a certain amount of time and then keeping renewing his "vacation" or something because he came to agree with Charlie about heaven. It's been a long time, though.
