Well, yesterday I had all my four wisdom teeth taken out. To be honest I was expecting something much worse, but I felt better when I realized they gave me anesthesia and I slept the whole thing through. In the blink of an eye I was in and out of the operation.
And now I'm at home recovering, not fun. I'm sore, sometimes I'm aching, and I gotta eat soft things and nothing solid. What a bore and pain. Every 15 minutes or so I gotta apply packets of ice on my cheeks to help me soothe the pain and occasionally rinse to wash away the blood that I'm bleeding in my mouth.
But at least I'm out of this, now those teeth won't bother me again. They've been bothering me during my vacation at Denver and I finally got those little buggers out. Good riddance.
Ow... *Rubs my cheek* Shouldn't talk much...

Yeah..A couple years ago I went through the same procedure. I remember how painful it was for me for a week or so. Couldn't even open my mouth that far.
But at least the pain will eventually subside, and it'll feel like nothing had happened. I hope you feel better soon.
-
I've never had mine removed, but I do hope you recover and get well quickly. Did the dentist give you an prescription or any instructions like using an ice pack may be ok?

Yeah, they gave me instructions and antibiotics to use on my way to recovery. I'm trying to follow them word for word to keep the pain and torture to a minimum.
-
That is the best thing to do. I"m sure the swelling and pain well get better soon enough, though it may not seem that way while one is going through the experience.
-
For some people their wisdom teeth never come in. I'm one of those. My sister had to have hers out, and it was painful for her..
-
Ouch!
I remember when my sister got all of her wisdom teeth out and was on a soup diet for days as a consequence. I still have all of my wisdom teeth and they are not bothering me. My problems with the orthodontists are of different nature <_<
They just won't remove the final two wires still in my mouth more than four years after my braces were removed! All of a sudden they suggest that I should keep these wires for the rest of my life! Looking at my orthodontists I must say I strongly suspect their advice to be based on the thought of their own financial benefit rather than on any medical reasons!

Reminds me of when I had my braces removed and they left a single wire on the back of my bottom front teeth. I recall they wanted to keep them there until they knew what would happen with my wisdom teeth. Even after removal I still haven't had this final wire removed.

How was your recent meeting by the way? Can you tell us a bit about it?
-
ouch. Hope you feel better soon. I know how painful that is. I lost two of my before some months.
-
I hope you are well enough by then to have fun when your friend comes to visit. I'm sure your dentist told you what to expect, how long it'll take ect.
I still have my wisdom teeth, as well.
-
they had to broke my wisdom teeth in 32 pieces to take them out  :p

Hahah, well the real adventure was just getting to littlefoot's house. First I got into the wrong exit on the highway and I had to go back into it. Then I met him along the way and he helped me get to house, that was 20 more minutes of driving. We had Redclaw chasing us for a while too, not nice XDD
But after all said and done I finally got to his house before I got lost in that maze he lives in. It was a pretty fun visit, played Guitar Hero 3 together and saw his awesome dragon and dinosaur collection.
Oh yeah, and littlefoot gave me this awesome dragon necklace and statue as a present. That was really nice of him. =3

Hello:
That sounds like you both had a very fun day, that's great! :DD
And it was good you could escape from redclaw too :D .
-
Don't say those things. I know we had to travel all over the Mysterious Beyond to get to my house. I told you to take the second exit to Arecibo but noooo, you didn't follow my instructions.
The Redclaw chasing was funny, hahah. Poor him, he couldn't catch us. He didn't noticed we had cars.
I told you before and you already saw it. Why do you think i suffer so much to find theway to the Great Valley.
Apart from that we had a very pleasant day. Yeah, we played a lot of GT3, wohoo! And we talked about my LBT collection, including my dragon collection.
About my present. I am happy to know you like them :)
-
I'm glad that the two of you had fun.
-
Well, it's better to get it all done at once then to have to go through the crap 4 different times I guess. -_-
-
Ugh! I remember having my wisdom teeth removed. No fun at all. :(
Hope you get better soon. :)

Why is everyone I know getting their wisdom teeth taken out? In one month, I can count you, my girlfrend, my math professor, my theatre manager, and my friend Dusty. I still have mine :D
-
Maybe it's a fad. Everyone cool is having their wisdom teeth taken out.

I think it's because back in the prehistoric era (Or sometime that old back then) humans used to have bigger jaws were our wisdom teeth could grow in just fine. But then as we grew and got more sophisticated our jaws began to grow less and less until our wisdom teeth didn't have any room to grow in between our jaw bones and other teeth. The results being inflicting us pain and problems as they try to make room to grow in.
It's what I read in the booklet they gave me and why and how we have problems with our wisdom teeth and why we eventually have to take them out if we suffer problems. Which in my case were annoying little aches and biting my gums.
-
I guess if one has problems they should come out.
-
I heard about that too. I also heard that wisdom teeth were originally designed to replace lost teeth, because back thousands of years ago tooth loss at a younger age was more common.
-
It could well be for either or both reasons.
-
I hypervenatlated when I was getting mine out. So much so that they had to switch off the gas and turn on oxygen.
I was so loopy after. I wanted to go to the mall and everything. :lol
-
Four, eh? Seems to be the average. I had my four taken out three years ago. Don't be jealous, but I felt no pain after they were removed . In fact, something's up with my pain receptors so that I only feel superficial pain (minor cuts, scrapes) but no deep pain :o. My dentist has never had to numb me to fill cavities 'cuz I don't even feel the pain :P:. Just another attribution to my strange self :lol.
-
That does sound lucky, though it can have disadvantages also I would guess. Sounds like I'm the only one who still has their wisdom teeth.
