I've started to compile some full quality LBT backgrounds and put them into a page. Now, this is still experimental, seeing as I'm not the best with javascript, but since these images are so large, I am using javascript so you don't have to reload the whole page to look at a new image. I am adding new images right now, so there might be more late, but there are currently 11 images to choose from:
EDIT: Just follow the new link in my signature. The one that says "LBT desktop backgrounds".
These are HUGE images. Please make sure that you let them load completely before trying to save them or set them as backgrounds. They may seem blurry. I don't know why that is. They look crystal clear as a background though.
-
all I got was... Hello on the screen. nothing else.
-
Use firefox or enable javascript in IE.
-
I don't have firefox.
Just checked Java is on and still it not coming up. All I get is a white screen with the text 'Hello' nothing else.
-
Try firefox. Honestly, IE is terrible. It has no security at all. Firefox is a lot safer, and it'll not block javascript cuz it can protect against malicious javascript programs, unlike IE. These images are absolutely huge. If you're on dialup, you probably can't view them. Unlike regular images, these images don't load line by line. They load completely, then show.

I have broadband. and never really had any trouble using IE on this Laptop.
I don't want to download a IE program like Firefox just to view something. Is there any way to view them without resulting to that?
-
Is it IE 7? There should be a bar at the top that pops up saying some crap like "the content has been blocked for your safety". Just right click it and say "allow content"
I just did a test. My site uses a new scripting technology that is not compatible with IE 6.
-
I got version 6 of IE on my laptop and got no bar that said that, just a white background with the word Hello on it. thats it from the link you gave.
-
IE 6 came out in like 2002. My scripting uses 2006 technology scripting. You must upgrade to IE 7 or firefox or another browser to view the site.
-
I see now, thanks :) I will see what i can do about that bit.
-
I'll make a script that comes up if you're using IE 6 so you'll know if you're using an incompatible browser people. :yes
Okay. I've changed the link on the first post. Now you can really see if your browser is compatible.
-
Thanks for the backgrounds. Were they hard to make?
-
To take the snapshots is not big deal, but I have to make waaaaay more than I need. To get those.....28 or so shots, I actually took over 500. I just had to take the good ones' out and publish them. Making the site with javascript was the biggest challenge. It may not look like much, but it includes a lot of script. Here's what I have so far in scripting:

Hello. If you are seeing this text at the TOP of the page, then you are either using an incompatible web browser, or you do not have javascript turned on. Please download the firefox web browser <a href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0.0.12&os=win&lang=en-US">Here</a> if you want to view the images. This page is not compatible with any version of internet explorer.
</body>
</html>
-
Sounds and looks very complicated.
-
Does this work for everyone? I need to know if it's not just my computer:
http://www.freewebs.com/landbeforetimeinfo/true%20test.htm (http://www.freewebs.com/landbeforetimeinfo/true%20test.htm)
Does it bring up a separate interactive window or just a new page? The image should fade in and for some of you there will be a little window with a black box around it with a "close" button at the bottom and some of you will just have a fading image. Those of you without the close button, you just need to click anywhere on the image to close it.
-
Do you mean does the page come up? Because it did for me.
-
I'm using FireFox myself, so there was no problem with that page at all. IE really an annoying programm. -_-
landbeforetimelover, this background are nice, but a little fuzzy. They were taken directly from the video, or have you made any additional operations with them?
-
As I said before, these images appear fuzzy on the internet. If you just set them as a background, they're not very fuzzy. These are directly taken from a full quality DVD.
-
Thanks, I"m sure many people will be very happy to use them.
-
I'm using Safari on my Mac, which has recently been updated with Mac OS X Leopard. The pics are loading slow simply cause my Mac still uses dial-up...but they are loading for me! Yay!
-
Just for reference it doesn't load in Opera either. ^^ I get no notices about incompatable browsers.
-
Doesn't work for me because I use Opera. I have no intention of getting FireFox either.
-
Well, in the middle of this topic, I switched my entire format. Now I'm using an older script, but it is not compatible with maxthon or opera.
EDIT: It may not be the best solution, but everyone can still view the images via IE. The image thumbnails won't come up, but you can still click where they are on the screen even though you can't see them and the larger one will. Strange.....I'm working on the problem now.
-
I've completed the first page of images and have started a second page. I've only started doing snapshots from LBT 12. I'll eventually get all the movies done. This is going to be one big gallery......
-
That means lots of choice for many people.
-
Average loading time for me is instantaneous, but I tried getting on via my wifi on my laptop and it was a little slow, taking over 4 seconds to load. How fast does the page load for everyone else?
Ya see, what I've done is what is called "pre loading" in javascript. You load all the large images before they come onto your screen, making the large images come up without having to load them line by line. It is efficient, though most likely annoying to dialup users.
-
It took a couple of seconds to load for me and the "pre-loading" thing works really well.
-
Yes, that preloading thing is something I just learned in javascript. You don't have to click an image and wait 20 seconds for each large one to come up.....because you load all the images before you are even allowed to view the page in a smaller environment. In essence, you load about 300k for a 1800k image. What it does is index the main points of the image so the large one is much easier and faster to load. Very handy. Too bad it's not supported by many web browsers. :( In 6 months or so maybe internet explorer and the other browsers will support that javascript feature, but firefox just leaves all other browsers in the dust when it comes to the newest technology and scripting. -_-
