I'm thinking of making a fanfiction about the residents of the Great Valley holding their version of American Idol. How will this be done you ask? Well, in a fanfiction, anything is possible! :D Also, because it's my story, so I make the rules :yes .
The gang will know a mix between the songs of their world and the songs of our world! Each chapter will include the singing portion and the elimination round until we get to the finale which will be two or three pages all together.
I have not decided what to do for the voting yet. I might actually do voting here, but I'll explain more details later.
Anyway, would this sound like a good idea? I would post the fanfic here instead of the general website, and remember, this is solely for entertainment. Nothing will make sense because it's not supposed to.

Yeah, I'm going to choose very corny and funny songs for some of the characters, but for those like Cera and Littlefoot, they will have serious hardcore songs. I can just see Ducky singing Since U Been Gone now...

I would generally say no because you'd have to write out all the lyrics of the songs and it would be sorta boring for you and the reader. I mean, the characters need to DO something in the story. I mean, if all they do is sing, how are you going to illustrate that?

I'm voting no. For me, there's a limit of having too much humor, and this idea surpasses that limit. But if you want to do this, go ahead. I just won't bother to read it.

Oh come on now Chronicler if you can take a serious show like American idol and frame it with a show like LBT...the humor would be almost never ending! That for me at least is something I look forward to!

I would be undecided on this one. It would be hilarious, but it would be sort of stupid. How would they choose their songs?
Also, if Topsy is Simon, who is Randy and who is Paula?
I'm going to answer my first question. You could ask one of us to do it for you. Just randomly select one of us.

I was thinking of having Loofah as Randy and Mama Swimmer as Paula.
I had a feeling some people wouldn't take so well to my idea, but I had to throw it out. I'm most likely going through with this, but I would try the best way possible to describe it in a not so boring manner.
EDIT: I could ask one of you guys if you wanted to be a little involved

I'll leave the poll open a little more, but I liked lbtlover's idea of making it a video, or even a series of videos. I might do that, because it would be a little easier to visualize...

And how exactly do you intend to do that? Vocal matching with a song is not what I call easy, nor would it be pleasant to watch because you'd have to keep switching scenes. That is....unless you're doing background scene removal from a video. Quite possible to do, but I'm not going to lie, it would take a very long time. The only way I know of doing this is loading the video file into photoshop CS3 (extended version only. It does not work in just CS3.) and to edit each frame manually. Quite a project.

Honestly, I'm a bit uncertain about this one. LBTFan13, ya know how much I am enjoying your current fanfic. That means I like your writing style. Ya may be able to pull this one off; only it would be more difficult to write 'cuz not much of a plot is involved. And yes, if ya write this, Littlefoot and Cera would need more hardcore songs as they are the "vocal powerhouses" of LBT :yes. In fact, they may even blow the competition out of the water :lol. If ya do write the fanfic, I would be more than willing to help ya out if needed ;). Best of luck!

You could pretty much guess that I wanted to keep the adults out of the competition, but now I need to find someone to be Ryan.

I'm actuallly quite curious to see how you're going to write this. I can't think of any way that would actually be enjoyable to read.

I'm not fond enough of shows such as American idol to like the idea of it in the Great Valley, but I do think that the singing in general might be an interesting, though complex topic for a story. One could come up with some ideas about why and on which occasions dinosaurs sing. Is it a kind of instinct matter of them or are they actually practicing poetry? Are they singing whenever they feel they want to bring something important or difficult to explain / emotional across, or are they just singing when they feel like it? All these could be interesting questions to be answered in a story.

I thought of another idea for this fanfic. Some of the characters will have certain personality traits for their specific songs, or they will act like some of the previous Idol contestants.
For example, Cera would fit the persona of Kelly Clarkson, Chomper would act as Chris Daughtry, and just for kicks, Petrie would be Sanjaya Malakar :lol
These are not final, but this is just to give you an idea of what I might do.
