Sup guys!
I'm so psyched about finally getting my greedy mitts on Brawl, I'm willing to start up some GOF exclusive Brawls online if anyone's interested? We can pick a time and date to meet up and bash each other stupid (virtually of course). I know there will be slight conflicts given time zone differences, but i'm willing to work around it (and my own personal timetable of course). We'll discuss times, arrange it, finalise it and then brawl! Simple and sweet as that ;)
This doesn't just have to go for Brawl...it can be for any online game. I know Mario Kart is due out in the next few days (given no further delays) so this could also work for that too.
How 'bout it?! Anyone game?

All times in my post are GMT-7:00 Mountain Time. To compare, it was 8:33 pm here when this was posted.
Saturday April 25th: 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm (unless something comes up)
Sunday: 5:30 pm and later (unless something comes up)
Monday: 10:00 am (or earlier if needed) to 5:00 pm (very likely to be free)
Tuesday: 10:00 am (or earlier if needed) to ~5 pm (unless something comes up)
Wednesday: 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm (unless something comes up)
Thursday: 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm (unless something comes up)

I probably would like to join as well in online Brawl matches, but I'm not entirely sure. I've lost enthusiasm for the online matches due to the bad lag. I end up fighting horribly because of it.

I'm going to try to *attempt* to reduce the lag on my end by hooking my wii up to a wired connection. I know my wireless can be pretty bad for gaming. That being said, I have had rough experiences on Brawl for lag as well. I have only played on wireless. I'll be picking up a 50 ft network cable hopefully tomorrow to get my wii on a wired connection. I know it won't solve all of the problems but it should help a little bit.
I encourage anyone who has the option of going wired internet for Wii gaming, please do so. B)
Don't go out and buy stuff unless you reaaaly really want to, but if it's not difficult to plug a cable in, it may help the lag a little. :)

i've heard that the lag on Brawl can be a royal pain in the proverbial. Still, as Action suggested, a wired connection should help with that niggly pain. But also as Action has said, I'm not expecting anyone to break the bank just to get wired connectivity for this. I've played only a few online games and the lag (although present) was not unbearable. But I guess each person's connection will differ slightly.
It doesn't matter too much. It all depends on your resiliance to the lag. I didn't mind it and my wireless connection is by no means the best (no way near in fact :lol ). Still, a few more shows of hands?

Unfortunately I recently realized that wiis don't come with a wired internet port! Looks like that's someting that needs to be purchased seperately for some strange reason... :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
Looks like I'm sticking with wireless. Ahh well, lag is less of a problem in Friends matches than "Anyone" matches, according to what I'm hearing.

Well, I picked up Mario Kart Wii today and I must say it has FANTASTIC multiplayer!
I'd be more than game for anyone who wanted to take me on online in Mario Kart as well as Brawl. B)

-Monday, Thursday: 4:00PM-6:00PM(unless something comes up)

I'm gonna be playing MK online tonight (or today in most people's cases). I'll probably be in Worldwide races (need to redeem myself after a couple of racing blunders last time :bang :^.^: ) but we can link up our own room once we all sign in!

Sorry Action...I was on MK for a while and didn't see anyone. I moved onto Brawl for a bit before turning in for the night. Never mind...we'll try again sometime soon. Might not be able to link up tonight and I'm working late shifts the next couple of nights...probably be Sunday when I'll next be free to play...if anything changes I'll post up ;)

I'll be on all day long tomorrow. However, I am really into the Worldwide competition. Get on there if you want a chance to face me. Just look for someone named John, who is currently using Toad and has over 6000 VR points. :)
Note that once I get Toadette, I'll be using her ALL the time. That's right, a guy will be mastering with a girl. Got a problem with that? :)

yeah that was great fun! I played appalling the first few races. Kept getting owned by the other drivers' items. One guy aerial tackled me over a jump and kicked me off the track! Was not happy :mad :DD I came in after work and just checked a message I got thru from KK23 (btw, I've added you now buddy ;) ) and I noticed you where online Action. Thought "even though it's 1.30am, don't think the folks will mind be having a few races" :lol
Look forward to doing it again. Hopefully we can get more people to join in :^.^:

Right, seriously need to kick this arrangement into gear! What's people's plans for this coming weekend? If you've got the time we all need to get some MK Kart/Brawl matches sorted out. I'm working late over the weekend but not that that matters too much, by the time I finish work, you guys over the Great Pond will just be thinking about what to have for dinner :^.^:

Without jumping to too much of a conclusion, I'm gonna say that Friday's gonna be our best bet. I can log on after work (provided the clean up at the end of the night doesn't take forever :P: ) so I'm looking at about 2am my time (GMT+0). This board is about 6hrs behind my time so it should be around 8pm by this board's local time. Since Mario Kart is the latest buzz for most players here, I recommend we go with that for starters. I'll be logging on about 8pm (local board time) so feel free to jump on and we'll see how it goes from there!

Man...sorry I haven't been around at all lately. With my schedule these days, I'm working or at school nearly every evening for the next few weeks. :blink:
Here is my upcoming schedule so I can do my best to work with everyone. I am listing all of the times when I am not either at work nor at school and can probably schedule some game time in.

That's cool Action. In the end, no one ended up online despite the fact I waited up til about 3.30am that night :( Oh well, don't matter. I understand people have their lives to live and gaming is not a major factor to ensure personal survival :^.^: Given a little more of a crowd I'm sure we can arrange a play time. Maybe if we could arrange a specific time and day a week we could all try to link up with. Make it more of a GOF gamers night (or day) so that way we can just jump online and hopefully someone would be there. Given time differences to link up with the US/Canada etc, I'm limited to evenings (my local time) but I'm free most of them.
If anyone has a regular timetable or a time slot in their week they can set aside or know they have a free moment (or few hours :DD ) to game online, let me know so we can come to some sort of an agreement. ;)

It's ok Action. I understand these things happen from time to time. No biggie! I still want this arrangement to happen though. I've been on Brawl a few nights now getting used to the slight delay between character action and button pressing. Since I'm the one ahead of given time, I'm waiting for other people's input so I can adjust to them. Once people know their game plan we can get the games running properly. :D

I was thinking about this the other day when Brawling online. Maybe we could film the replay of matches and then find a way of airing them here. But obviously, we need the players before any recording can begin. ;)

Sorry I haven't been around so much guys. I should really be pushing this a little more but time hasn't been a factor I've had much of recently :( I'm in the midst of sorting out a job change but at the moment things are a little up in the air hence I've been coming home and heading straight for bed (I'm a lazy git :DD ). Brawl hits European shelves on June 27th (next friday) so hopefully any other Europe dwellers with Wiis from our fine forum will be able to jump online and we can duke it out! I still want a 4-way Brawl with just GOF members :D I'm tempted to set up my d.cam and record the action provided the quality comes out ok. But we need participants first!
I still reckon we need to try and set aside a day where we can dedicate it just a turning up and seeing who's online for a game or two. ;) I know time zones make it awkward but I'm prepared to fit around everyone else seeing as the primary source for this forum is in the -GMT area of the world. Hopefully we can get around to it eventually! :^.^:

This is it! The official annoucement for GOF Brawl/Mario Kart gaming sessions. All those interested, between Action9000 and myself we have set aside a day and time for all GOF Wii owners to come and join us online for a bit of fun. We came up with the following proposal:
Day: Sundays
Time: 5.30pm (MST), 7.30pm (EST), 12.30am (GMT)
The times outlined here are for guidance as to when we all can meet up. If push comes to shove and members happen to be gaming beforehand then that makes it all the better.
For the first meeting, we decided on Brawl for the pilot session for this coming Sunday. If interest picks up, then we can make the game choices open to suggestions but we need a starting point first. Anyone and everyone with a Wii can join. Either Action or myself will be logged on awaiting players to join in the fun. Make sure friend codes have been exchanged before committing to the session (otherwise we won't be able to tell you're online :^.^: ) The link below takes you to the Nintendo friend's code page of the forum:

well, its a good thing ive been actually playing brawl lately, so i got a bit of practice before sunday. Just beat subspace emissary on intense...not fun.

After another disappointing turn out this Sunday, I'm sensing that not a lot of people are incredibly interested with this idea. So, this week will be the final attempt to pull this together. If anyone wants to hook up and play a few online games this coming Sunday, check times and have yourselves ready. If the turn out fails again, then I may as well pull the plug on the idea coz on all seperate occasions no one's logged on.
So, last chance to get involved. This Sunday. Check times and log on to play. The choice of game is open to debate.

Me, I just acquired a Wii (as in I haven't even unpacked it at the time I'm posting this) along with Brawl. It'll probably be a bit before I can join anything, though - it'll take me a while to adjust to the way it handles and set it up properly. Being a 360 gamer, it could take some time...though I do have Brawl. Dang, this'll look good on my new TV...
