I'm surprised there wasn't a topic on here for him. He's my favorite sequel guest. He has a lot of funny moments; and like I said in another post, he and Petrie make a great duo.
Post thoughts here.
-
Guido is a great character he is funny when he gets nervous.
-
I've only seen him in the tv episode, The Hermit Of Black Rock. Not sure how different he is shown in that as apposed to the 12th movie. I do like the character and he does seem interesting. Though odd how in the episode he seems about the same age as the gang, but doesn't hang out or play with them.
-
I thought Guido was an adult.
-
Maybe he is, I've not seen the 12th movie so don't know that info about him is in there.
-
Guido = Like me.. I love him. The fact that he wants brothers and sisters around and the fact that he is 'different'. I do have two younger brothers, but somehow they dont feel like brothers to me.
It's like guido is my little brother :^.^: . Or big one, though he looks kind of small :p
-
Guido seems to be older than the gang members, that's for sure. But he's a kind of a person, who must likely to talk to children, because serious adults won't understand his intentions at all.
-
What indications (except for the absence of parents) do we have for Guido to be considerably older than the gang? His physical proportions (large head etc.) don't make him look very much like an adult, do they?
-
I don't know about the 12th movie, but it was during the episode of The Hermit Of Blackrock where he learns to Glide, from Petrie teaching him. I would assume an adult glider would already know how to glide.
-
Well, if he could even remember anything about his past, that means, he have some problems with memory. I guess, that is why he don't remember how to glide either.
Malte279, i haven't said, taht Guido is an adult. He's just a little older then the gang. And his loss of skills and memory making him feeling quite unsure. Usually, children taking such things easily then teens and a little older youngsters. :)
-
guido is like me if you talk aboout his personality,
-

Guido is a microraptor gui. These are very small dinosaurs. So it could be that Guido is an adult. His kind does not get very big. Only about 1-2 ft long.
-
The same goes for Petrie's species as well if you compare his mother's dimensions with that of other grownups. It may be possible that Guido is older than the gang, but I don't think we can be certain about this. His proportions don't make him look like a fully grown character (his head being almost as large as his torso):

It takes the 12th movie to understand WHY Guido wouldn't know how to glide. He just showed up in the valley, only knowing his name. He didn't know where he came from or anything. I'm kind of surprised he even remembered his name, usually cases of memory loss even involve the victim forgetting their name as well.
Whatever happened to him, Guido was sure lucky to remember that. :)
As for your comment, Malte... isn't just about every charcter off in one way or another? I seriously doubt Pteradons had transparent wings. ;)
-
Knowing how to glide is a different memory then facts which are different then personal facts. I've had amnesia twice and I could remember some facts, but nothing to do with personal facts nor memories.
-
I am certainly not an expert in these medical matters, but I think it is quite possible (even likely) that people suffering from a serious amnesia may have forgotten a lot about their own identity but not such physical motions as are required for example to walk or ride a bike.
As for your comment, Malte... isn't just about every charcter off in one way or another? I seriously doubt Pteradons had transparent wings.
I don't quite understand this comment. I suppose that it is quite possible to recognize some shapes or the like through the wings of a flyer in case of favorable lighting, but what does that have to do with Guido's proportions being not that of a grownup character?
-

I think what he means is that in LBT7, the fliers hade transparent wings and that they probably weren't like that in real life. As for guido's age, I always thought he was a teenager or something. I think he is older than the gang but not an adult yet.
-
I don't know about others, but I've had amnesia twice and both times I only lost access to my personal memories and personal facts. Any physical skill I had I could still do, walk, talk ect, and generic facts, I knew a tv when I saw one, a carpet ect.
So based on my personal experiences I doubt he'd forget how to glide, there there may be some rare brain conditions that may explain how, I doubt the writers of the script were planning on that since I would doubt they call up brain scientists to ask if there is a condition that can cause x.
-
I'm not sure if Guido ever really forgot how to glide. He might have forgotten that he could glide, but he didn't forget how to. I mean he does glide in his sleep and I doubt he'd be able to do that if he never learned how to glie.
-
As I recall in the episode Petrie has to teach him. He learned fast, but in a 25 minute episode which was not focused on Guido learning to glide but focused on another plot he needed to learn quickly or else the plot of the episode could not happen.
-

Well, if Guido already knew how to glide, before he lost his memory, i think that would be easy to him to learn how to glide again. :)
-
I'd guess more likely they didn't have much time for Guido to learn to fly in a little 25 minute episode.
-
Malte: The idea of a Pteradon's having transparent wings was just a random idea on the many different ways that the charcters in LBT are out of proportion in one way or another. It was not meant to be connected to Guido in any way, shape or form.
I apologize for any inconvience I may've made with that comment in the end. :)
-
^ No problem at all :)
I still don't see why Guido would be regarded as considerably older than the gang. What points are there to support that thesis?
Even in case of the definite teenage characters we have (Hyp, Nod, and Mutt) the proportions appear to be less juvenile than Guido's.
I do not deny that there are few suggestions about his age in general, but which suggestions are there that make many of you think that he is considerably older than the Gang?
-
I've always just assumed that he is about the same age as the gang, personally.
-
I checked out a webpage on his species: http://members.aol.com/Dinoplanet/microraptor.html (http://members.aol.com/Dinoplanet/microraptor.html)
Hmm. According to this, the microraptor gui can only be up to 3 feet tall. Considering all things, I don't think Guido is an adult, though he could be in his early teens if anything.
-
Maybe he's in the middle between what they would consider teenage years and childhood days. Just a guess.
-
This dose make sence that Guido could be around his teen years because he looked a little taller than Petrie and his brothers and sisters even though as an adult Guido wont be very big, but Guido looks young it seemed that Guido was around the age of his friends their ages don't really seem that far apart besides why would he want to live with Petrie's family if he was an adult? :)
-
I have a few similarities to Guido:
*I try to be supportive with my friends and other people I truly care about
*I am VERY self-consious
*I sometimes speak with more words then I need to when I get nervous talking to certain people.
*I feel very different from my peers as far as my views and likes go.(i.e:I like LBT :P: )
Yes, I love this character :) he's sweet natured, shy, loyal, and oh-so darn cute! :D
-
:)
-
i like Guido because he is a really cool character, he has a nice personality and likes to help out his friends. Sometimes he reminds me of myself i am sometimes like Guido and he is really very cute. :)
-
He is interesting. To bad he's not used more often. He could make an interesting and different character.
-
i think so also . I would like him to be shown more. :)
-
i think so also . I would like him to be shown more. :)
Me too! :D
-
They could easily show him more. Do like they do with mr thicknose in the series, or more like the justice league cartoon first season and have him part of the gang, but not all the gang members are present in each episode.
-
That sounds like a good idea but i kind of like seeing the whole gang in each episode not having Guido be in every episode but mabie most of them Mabie he can be in parts of some episodes more than he is in now. Him being part of the gang sounds cool and i think he would make a good main Character if he was part of the gang. :)
-
I immediately became fond of Guido when I first saw him. Our personalities are very similar, and I swear he has Asperger's Syndrome. His mannerisms display AS :yes. I loved the part where he is talking to Petrie's siblings about why Petrie could be having difficulty flying in formation. Guido's theory: Petrie cannot tell the difference between his siblings' faces and their rear-ends :lol. Aw, man! That was hilarious :p!
-
That was funny Guido can be funny a times and i like it when he was in the cave or in Black Rock as it was called in the tv episode and he said "Im afraid of being afraid". He said alot of funny things that made me laugh.
-
I've not seen Guido much, but he does seem like a pretty funny character and one that isn't to hard to have do or say funny things.
-
To me he is naturaly funny without tyring sometimes.
-
To me he is naturaly funny without tyring sometimes.
That right there is one of the biggest reasons he's one of my favorite characters in the whole series.
-
I wonder how popular of a character he is with most lbt fans.
-
Guido is popular with me. I like him. :)
-
I like Guido as well but in a few fics on ff.net he is portrayed as 'geeky' because of his nervous behaviour. :anger
-
I like Guido too, and
Rallag7, since I know my fanfic's one of the ones you are referencing (Since you reviewed it on ff.net), I only made Guido a "Geeky" type character since out of all the canon characters, he would probably be one who characters like shorty would pick on (In my fic at least,), but yeah, I think Guido's cool. He made 12 the best post-part 10 sequel
-
He is a very interesting character. I wonder how well he'd fit in if he was an occasional gang member.
-
I think he would have a close bond with Petrie in a brotherly way. Maybe he would be friends with Ducky and Spike too, considering they are more of the "underdogs" of the gang. Little Foot would probably support him and stick up for him. Cera might too though, she is of course...Cera.
-
and I swear he has Asperger's Syndrome.
I agree so much :lol . That's one thing for me to associate with.
I just re-watched XII to decide if Guido should be #2 in my favorite character list. He gets it.
He reminds me SO much of my boyfriend! He can't get his thoughts together (like when he was talking to Tops at the end, after he called him "Big Guy"), he doesn't like leafy greens, he's awkward, different from his peers, and he wants to fit in and be himself at the same time. And Guido even LOOKS a little bit like my boyfriend <3 .
I personally think that he is suffering from memory loss. He says that he "woke up and he was there". I think that he got separated from his group when he sleep-walked/flew. He landed in the Great Valley and must've hit his head pretty hard, which caused him to wake up. However, the hit made him forget everything up to when he woke up.
Lol, that's another thing I associate him with my boyfriend with. He can't remember a lot of stuff. I SWEAR the best example of that was him asking what the Hope Diamond was three times and every time I said "I've already told you!"
And he releases THE crowning moment of funny in the entire series. "Your rear ends look just like your faces, so how can he tell which way to go?"
-
They do give him quite a few comedic lines and he is a very unique character indeed. o bad he wasn't in more stuff after he was introduced, but many characters have that problem in lbt.
-
Hey, at least he was one of the lucky ones to get a spot in the TV series. They did mention that he met Chomper and Ruby when he babysat Tricia. Now THERE'S something I would have liked to see.
-
"Your rear ends look just like your faces, so how can he tell which way to go?"
Best. Line. EVER. :spit
Guido = the funniest thing that has ever happened to an LBT sequel. :lol
I love comic-relief characters.

And when he called Topsy "Lady" :smile . Then "Big Guy" at the end. THAT'S where the Asburgers kicks in. Annd the mud thing.
"I did it so he wouldn't have to."
-
Aspergers is a bit of a long shot, I would say he's just socially awkward.
He's my favourite character by far, mostly because he reminds me of how I am in real life... another weirdo.
-
Not the only one. I'm a very weird person in rl.
-
Guido is cool and he's also funny in many cases.
-
I like Guido because I sort of act like him during my awkward moments, right down to my speech patterns. It's kind of uncanny.
-
I have a few similarities to Guido:

Same here rat_lady. In "The Hermit of Black Rock", he said that he was afraid of the dark. I can relate to that, since I used to be just as afraid of the dark as Guido was. However, I outgrew that fear when I got older.
-
hey Im sure I put a post on this topic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any way, I love him ,I wish he was my boyfriend because hes perfect ! :wub :wub WHY DO SOME PEOPLE THINK HES WEIRD ?
My friends think its weird that I have a crush on him but hes kinda like an imaginary boyfriend if you get what I mean ....... :wub :wub :wub :wub :wub

According to the "top 10 characters" votes he is the 7th most popular LBT character on here. I didn't realize he was so popular, so it was a little shocking when I first saw it, but really, when you think about it, it's not. Guido is awesome, I adore him, and actually think he ties with Mo as the most creative, mysterious character in the series---maybe moreso, since there are none like him we've met! ;)
And also, keep up the good work of loving Guido, Guidolover, the biggest Guido lover ever. No one could be as dedicated or loving to Guido as you are. I'm sure he'd be very touched if he met you. ;)
Oh...and here's an interesting story. I was at my school this year, and I was busy thinking about LBT, and then started thinking about Guido, and the noticed that on a white board it said... "Guido video." No one knew what it meant, since it was something left over from last year. Anyways, it was there for a while before someone erased it, but I wrote it on a few other whiteboards, cause I thought it sounded cute. :smile
-
Really funny and adorable... Hehe... 3rd face, and I have a soft spot for little guys. Anyway, the two of us share one thing in common: "It isn't easy being the only one of a kind." I feel that way a lot. And I really like his sense of humor.
-
Guido is also the last character ever to cry in the film series, I think.
But yeah, he's awesome. In my top 10, definitely!
-
Wow it's been awhile.
I actually picked up Guido as a role play character on dreamwidth. Just recently made this post on dear_mun where he meets another talking tyrannosaurus rex. I make him scared of course, but I don't know something here...
Does anyone know if Guido met Chomper in the tv series? Maybe it would be presumed he did because of his episode with Petrie?
-
Guido is in a tv series episode. He already knows him in the episode when he first appears in the episode. I think the episode title is The Hermit of Black Rock.
-
I personally love this guy - just rented Great Day of the Flyers, and Guido was seriously the best part! He was so awkward and quirky, and his accent reminded me so much of Woody Allen :lol
I just wish he'd had more backstory. "I'm not sure" certainly could have been further explained throgh flashbacks or something, but he was so funny otherwise.
-
Guido :D
He's just funny, I like him
I'd realy like him to be a permanently member of the Gang

Shorty probably picks on lots of characters, though Shorty does seem to have a responsible side as he was protecting all of those younger kids.
I just love Guido's voice. Whoever they cast did a really good job!

Yep, they did a great job indeed. According to this website (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Land_Before_Time_characters) is was Rob Paulsen voicing him.
In the german dub it is the same person who also voices Sid from Ice Age in the german dub which makes him so hillariously funny :lol
-
While I do not dislike Guido, I felt he was too much like a Petrie 2.0. Petrie has always been nervous though wNting to prove himself brave, just as Guido does later. However, since Guido did not know anything about his past, and finding Petrie to be like s brother, it is logical he would imitate Petrie. Still the nervous and insecure nature is part of Guido from day one and this was and is a signature personality trait of Petrie. I would prefer to see more of Petrie wrestling with his feelings of inadequacy than watch Guido do the same. For one Petrie is a memember of the Gang of Five and has always been a favorite. Thankfully Journey of the Brave gave us more Petrie arch.
-
Change of Heart:
Guido was a great supporting character. I felt he brought depth to “The Great Day of the Flyers.” His journey was far more interesting than Petrie’s, and I am thrilled he returned for the Series. He truly should be the Eighth member of the Gang.

Agreed! Guido was one of those guest characters who went beyond just happening to be there. He would have been a wonderful addition to the Gang! :yes I always thought he should have found out more about who he was--if there are ever any more sequels/episodes, I hope we get to see that happen. :DD

Yeah, I like it!

Guido is a cool guy. I really like him.
-
I think Guido is basically me if I was a Dinosaur. Were both awkward and dorky.
-
Was Guido voiced by the same acfor as Strut? There is a similarity.

Yes. Also the same guy who voiced Spike, Mo, Rinkus, and a handful of other characters.

So glad I wasn’t just hearing things, thanks Das.
