I realized when I look on the online list to see what the active users are doing I sometimes see them using, "User CP" but I could never understand what that was, could someone explain this to me?

The control panel, where you can change your avatar/singature and those kind of things. :)

Oh, okay :P: thanks, it just never occurred to me what it was :p

So it's not one of the secrets man was not meant to know. Or a very high level secret? :lol
-
Honestly, I've never seen anything that said "User CP".

Neither have I, not usually anyway. The only time I see it is if I go to view the online list. Sometimes soneone is using their control panel, and on the online list that shows up as "User CP".

User CP is only shown on the online list.. :) The first month of myself on this forum was mostly spend on looking what others did so I kind of know it all.

Nope, it's just a question I needed to ask about this forum

Ya know, that's pretty creepy. Why didn't you just join? Why wait a MONTH and just spy on others activities? It's not like you couldn't back out if you didn't like what you saw later down the line.
-
I don't see anything wrong with that.
I do know someone who does hang out on this board as a guest and reads different topics. I have asked if he wanted to join, but he didn't want to, stating he had nothing good to say or something.

Creepy, you say, landbeforetimelover? Maybe she was just shy. There could be any number of reasons! Please don't be so quick to judge others' actions. <_<
I actually still use the online list regularly. :p
I agree with DH. There is Nothing wrong with using tools that are freely given to every user! It's actually a useful little thing! I've put it to use many times:
Seeing whether a person is viewing or posting. If you're on the actual topic, you can see people there but you don't know if they're posting or just reading. From the online list, it will tell you what they're actually doing.
Quickly getting back to time-conscious topics (if the member is leaving soon, if it's a game with a time limit, etc.). Very useful if you're keeping up with more than one topic that is time-conscious.
Curiousity and interest: To see what topics are getting attention at a glance without having to go through topics individually. Can also see if members are on forums where I rarely spend time (Role plays) or on forums where I spend more time (The Fridge, etc.).
See what guests are doing on the forum. Useful for finding bots/spammers (10 guests, all on the main page...questionable :p), as well as observing what topics appeal to guests.
Numerous other uses.
User CP is only shown on the online list..
Anyways yes, this is correct. :)

Just shy.

Take it easy, bro... -_-

*sigh* Okay, okay, I over-reacted. I'm sorry. I'm just defensive of the ones I care the most about...

I understand. I just put a lot of thought into my response to lbtlover to get and keep things cool and relaxed; I don't want any trouble brewing.

It's okay Aaron.. :) I did post, Austin, but not as much as I do at this moment. From the day I joined until the voting started I already had reached 100 posts. I just knew nobody and felt a bit unwelcome(had nothing to do with you guys really. I was just new to the whole forum idea.), though this has changed.

Alright... Yeah... You're right Tim, sorry... There won't be... It just irked me...

No worries. :)

Phew..... ....Back to business, I guess...
EDIT: Yeah, my apologies to Austin as well... I over-reacted, and got defensive. I care a lot about Iris... How ironic, though, if it weren't for him, we wouldn't know each other, heh... (In more than one way...)

For sure! :)
Onwards! :wow :D

I don't see anything wrong with observing even for a longer period of time before deciding whether or not to join either. One could hardly label it "spying" to read the messages in the public section of a board. They are MEANT to be read. And when you here you must be aware of a certain risk that stuff may be abused. One cannot be cautious enough in the internet and sometimes it is better to have been too careful ten times than having been too careless a single time. Land before time fan that I am I would still check out what kind of people there are in an LBT forum.
^ Sorry, I had missed reading your last post Tim before I typed mine.
Back to business it is :yes

I've used the online list when there's a lot of members on to see who's reading what. Usually I'll know where the next reply is because if you catch it right, it will say "posting in..." :p
