So, I managed to upload the images I wanted, and here is the computer fanart.
I'll start by my own avatar in a wider version, more comprehensible.
Please give your opinion! I'll keep posting more!

I'm new at this, so if it doesn't work, tell me.

Hi Explorer! :)
I've been looking forward to the fanart thread since reading your announcement in the welcoming center (it took me a while to work up for the nine days in Scotland). I tried to edit your post so the picture would show up rather than the url. Usually this works by putting the url of the picture in image tags. For some reason it didn't work out with the picture. I have had the problem too with some of mine. I don't know exactly, but I think it is something about certain signs in the name of a picture to be displayed that way. Maybe somebody with more computer knowledge than I have can give some more helpful advice here.
I like the picture composition. Is the Cera taken from the beginning of the song "Things Change"?
Where did you find the background?
One piece of hopefully constructive criticism (to help improving your future work, not to belittle your current one) is that maybe the edge between the rock behind which Littlefoot is standing and the grass is a bit too hard making the stone look a little "inserted". The smudge tool of photoshop or some of the other tools could be used to smooth out that edge a bit.
I'm looking forward to see more of your work :yes
-
Yes. The stone does look unnatural. You should also add a shadow. No, I'm not talking about just a drop shadow. Duplicate the image and make it totally black. Then make it a bit faded and transform the object into a position that makes it look like it's a shadow. Here's an example of something I made a while ago:
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/t...TBackground.jpg (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/tlordame/second%20album/VistaLBTBackground.jpg)
I'm MUCH more experienced now so I could probably make it better and make the characters more realistic, but I'm not going to do another project like that for some time. Anyway, just make shadows like that and you'll be fine.
EDIT: Notice the mistake I made on Ducky's shadow? I fixed that but I can't find the fixed image...........
-
One thing you can do is take some screenshots of the movie & tv series for certain things you can study how it is done there, like how they do a rock on dirt or grass, ect. Maybe some other animated things, and other artists, so you can get a feel of how some others do things and get your own style also.

Thanks for the advices, everyone!
To the quote, yeah, you guessed Cera. However, the background is from a sceenshot I took in Smash Bros. Brawl. Some of the backgrounds there seem to amazingly fit with the LBT screenhots, and I found this one interesting. Probably, all others I have also have Smash Bros. Brawl Backgrounds.
I'll try to put even better ones!

Here's another one!
The theme is a little crossover'ed', but I think it didn't get bad at all.

Also, here is the previous image, a little edited:

-
Haha I like the smash brother one :p It does remind me a bit of the RPG 'dawn'
-
Hello:
They both looks very good, is the first one a crossover with Digimon? :DD
Keep it up!
-
Interesting looking pictures, thanks for sharing them. Is this a hobby of yours?
-
Yes, I usually create things like these with many images, with some backgrounds, or even create my own backgrounds. Then its just think of some images to fit there (like a storyline) and (after the advices I received) adjust some aspects.
-
mighty,
-
Did you think of any little scenes or stories when creating these compositions? In case of the one with Littlefoot and Cera it would be relatively easy to think of a situation which might result in the characters looking like that. Good improvement on the edge of that stone by the way :yes
In case of the other it is tricky to think of anything that would upset Cera like that while Petrie remains quite cool while Ducky and Littlefoot don't seem to mind Cera very much either.
-
Sorry but they just don't look natural. I remember using a program for mac that was very good at integrating animated images into real images and making it look natural. I just wish I could remember what it was. I was in third grade then.........
-
Actually, all images combine give good ideas for storylines. I made good ones (of other themes) that were originated by images.
-
On your first picture:
I'd seriously been sitting here for about five minutes trying to figure what movie that shot came from. When I gave up, clicked on the link and realized it was your fanart, I was like: "Holy Sh--, they drew that???"
-
Ahaha, Petrie calls a tornado in Smash Brothers. :P: Notice how he doesn't look a bit worried.
I too was wondering about that one image when I first saw it. Pretty good cut/ppaste job on the images. I'd focus on what others have said---the shadows make it appear more real.
-
I got another one!
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/ex...8_photo/New.jpg (http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/explorer2008_photo/New.jpg)
Sorry for taking this long, couldn't find the right images. I had another thing in mind, but it turned out like this.
-
Very good the last one, and good work with the edge on first one.
I had same work of those as well, way way worst, very bad to be honest, but I bought a new pc, and I thought screw that, now I know I totally did a bad choose bacause now I have to to them again :slap :slap , and I suck :bang :bang :bang
-
Nice artwork and it looks like a scene that could be from one of the games they play.
-
Cool :D
-
So, I decided to make a small image of my fanfic. Please tell me what you think.
I have to apologize for a fatal error: Ducky and Spike aren't present. I don't have enough images of them, and those I have aren't suitable for any use here, or are simply to blurred.
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/ex...o/ThePoster.jpg (http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/explorer2008_photo/ThePoster.jpg)
-
So... Where is it? :p *might have overlooked it... *
-
It's there. I don't think it was there when that post was first made, probably because of an error, or something, but it's there now.
It's a cool picture.
-
Ahh there it is then. heh its kinda cool but littlefoot seems somewhat cut off.
-
I think its good.
I think we both want to make our fics more than just a story :p
-
I got short with images... <.< I'l try to get new ones.
Thanks for the comments! :^.^:
-
Hello:
The pic looks good and I admit the concept is very interesting.
I indeed look forward to see the second version of this pic, with all characters ;) , keep it up!
-
Well, its not really computer artwork, but yet again from the fanfic...
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/ex...fIllusions2.jpg (http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/explorer2008_photo/IsleofIllusions2.jpg)
Anyways, the story will end here (Other things happen before of course). I call it Isle of Illusions. In the fanfic later you'll see why.
-
Nice drawing, looks like you have quite some skill. One of the good things about pencil is it is easy to add some shading where you want.
-
Nice, I probably would've messed it all up :p !
-
Hello:
Nice!, I like floating islands, theyreally can add some nice special touches to fantasy or fantasy-related stories. I look forward to know more about the fanfic.
-
Nice drawing, I agree, you seem to have a good skill.
-
Thanks! I firs thought about colouring it, but I honestly think it's better as is. And I also thought I could do something else there, but that'd probably ruin it up.
Here's yet another fanart, from the fanfic, with two confirmed charactrs and one of th main antagonists, The Darkness Ruler.
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/ex.../Wallpaper3.png (http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/explorer2008_photo/Wallpaper3.png)
-
Oo Evil :p
-
Dark!!!!!!!
Nice work :p
-
Oh my, I haven't postd anything here in quite a while.
However, I made another one recently:
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/ex...allpaper2-1.png (http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t330/explorer2008_photo/Wallpaper2-1.png)
Tell mewhat you think, please!
-
Cool! Good work Explorer
-
Cera says 'rawr, im big planet' :D
cool :)
-
o.O
Creepy...and cool! Way to go! :smile
-
Think of doing one with Littlefoot, Guido, Chomper, Ruby, Ducky, Petrie, Cera, Spike, and all the SSBB playable characters?
-
Thanks everyone! :D
@Chomper4: I could consider, but I miss half the requesits (a.k.a. the necessary images), since, as you may notice by my first images, I'm missing good pics of various LBT characters. SSBB characters are easy to get though.
But one I was really interested in doing was related to SSB, but about the current one I'm playing, the forum based SSB: Collision.
However, once again, I lack the necessary images. ._.
-
Then it would be possible to make a topic about that.
-
Do you have an image of Chomper in quicksand?
-
Hmm... I like all of these very much. They're dark in nature, whcih appeals to me :yes.
-
How do you get a video clip from a video, movie, or DVD and make it into a picture?
-
I have used media player classic. You have to pause the video. In media player classic it is under File you find Save Image. Some other media players may have the same type of command under File. The default format may be .png or .jpg. If you are careful you may notice that it may let you pick a format other then the default, took me a bit of time to notice that.
Not sure if I explained well enough. That is how I take screen shots, others may have other methods.
-
Yeah, I also use Media Player classic. The screenshot quality depends much on the place you got the video from, and the videos themselves.
So, you might say mine's a pretty bad one because of the screenhot's quality, the screenshot in the lastest image.
Also, I'd advice .png to save a file, .jpg gives it a rather more messed up quality.
-
I guess the source makes a difference. I only recently learned from an online friend that .png is a better picture format then .jpg. The LBTscreenshots I have (and the few Dinotopia mini series) are from dvd's so likely of ok quality. They are not full screen. The size seems to be set for the screenshot in media player classic even if you are playing full screen videos.
-
How do you do it from Windows Media Player?
-
Press Ctrl and the "I" button to take a screenshot from Windows Media Player.
-
Just be sure to pause the video first, and be sure the paused one is exactly what you want for a screenshot. Good luck on getting great screenshots.
-
I tries to do it, but it doesn't seem to work. Give me sugestions of what I might be doing wrong.
-
Hello:
Thank you Explorer, I always wanted to do how to take pics using the Windows Media Player :DD . Now what Chomper4 say is curious because it works for me. Chomper4, do you keep holding the control button as you press the i ? if you do it correctly a windows will display for you to choose the name of the file and the place you want to save it.
-
Yes I did.
-
What are you doing and what sort of problem are you having? Also try to see where the default place is since it may be giving it a default name and put it in a default location.
-
So first, my Powerpoint, which is where I had to do this image, was acting up oddly. -_- Therefore, there are a few blurs, color traces and bad cuts all around it. If I can, I'll try again when I get my hands on my laptop, where I can use GIMP.
Anyways, this is a remake of a previous image. The first one was something of a mess because most of the images were blurred. <.<
This time, though, I managed to include all but Petrie. I'll take my advantage and say its because of story facts and not because I couldn't find a proper image. Ah ah ah.
And again, Littlefoot was a pain to find in the correct pose. Is it just me, or are the places where he looks, you know, mean, escaping from my sight? Cause that's the best I could get. o_o
Okay, enough explanations. Hope you enjoy!
Also, I'm trying to get the more-than-overdue chapter 24 of the fanfic done. <.<
By the way, this topic was fished from the 6th page. Ouch.
