(this update is being copied and pasted through e-mail groups and various forums. If any part of it confuses you, feel free to ask me the meanings =) )
Got a job! been at it for four days now. I'm working at a fabric store called Sir's Fabrics. I basically fold fabric, straighten fabric, measure fabric, check fabric for flaws and assist customers with fabric. I also open and close the store (many switches and things I have to work with =P ) and while its not the greatest paying job, its still a paying job nonetheless.
I don't plan on staying there, right now its just a little something to help boast me in the right direction. I need money, and this is the start of my getting it =)
Meanwhile I've considered becoming a freelancer cartoonist for various local newspapers. I've been taking advise from some experienced friends and I'm starting to build my way up to the level neded to get here.
The Arkia series is also coming back, as I've found that since I have less free time as I did without a job, I feel more pushed and more motivated to get my story done. It seems all I really neded was just a little push to get going =) Be expecting some normal updates concerning the book in the coming weeks!
That is all the news I can think of right this moment, but I will be updating on things every two days, so keep your eyes peeled to forums or e-mail =)

I wish you luck in your career.
-
Great news!
By the way, best of luck on your career. I hope that you don't crack and hide in steam tunnels. (Real Genius reference)
-
That's awesome :)
-
congratulations. Things seem to be looking up. It may not be much of a job but it's better then not working and it is a start at least.
-
I for one am so glad to hear you're getting back on your feet Aves. I do hope that freelance job holds out as well...it sounds like fun and something you'd enjoy doing. I wish you well in your success.
-
Congratualtions! This is awesome Brian. :yes
-
Any work is better than no work. ;) Remember what I told you. Best of luck that the freelance cartooning works out.
-
well, uh, good luck with your job
-
thanks, guys. =) I'll keep you all posted!
-
A freelance cartoonist? That's freakin' awesome! I'd never thought of it before, but a cartoonist is probably one of the funnest jobs a guy can have, not to mention an almost guaranteed large audience and inclusion in newspapers. Good choice!
-
I was told by a guy who was leading editor of a newspaper that freelance work is the most common work and garentes certain success if pulled of right.
it just takes some bit of effort on the cartoonist's behalf to get his material out there for the papers to sample
-
Sounds wonderful! :) You're in a good spot.
-
Good luck with that.
-
And I'll be launching three web comic series, which with Petrie's permission, I just may spam the forums with! xD
these three will broaden my cartooning work and will give these papers more to sample =)
-
That is a good idea. Are you going to try different drawing & art styles? Will they be the same genre or some different ones?
-
Meh, you'll see
my new avatar should give you a slightly vague preview of one of them
-
That's awesome! :) Good luck with your new job!
-
Sounds like things are looking up for you now. It's always darkest before the dawn, and it looks like the Sun's just risen for you.
-
Draw away. :)

Hello:
Well, I noticed the change in your avatar pic before I read this post :P: .
Sorry for the late reply, but I came here to congratulate you for your new job. I wish you'll have a great time working on this and that you'll be able to go very far.
Speaking of your new avatar pic, does he have a Megaman X-style of gun?
-
it is indeed an arm blaster, like that of Megaman, though I try not to think of it as one. this gun unlike Megaman's is removable, and there is a fleshy arm there, not machine xD
the original Aves (a.k.a Aves W Longfeather) was always your typical bada##. He was (and still is) apart of a series I created years ago. and that series I'm reviving as a graphic novel style webcomic =) I'm coloring the first page now as we speak
-
Hello:
That's very cool, since it also sounds like a very modern style of weapon. I look forward to see your work :yes .
-
Looks like one is sci-fi. You still going to be doing the first one you started?
-
Congrats on the job, Aves! I knew you'll find something to keep you on your feet. Can't wait to see your web comics!
