Hey. I just discovered how to make lightsabers using GIMP, and I thought I'd display what I'd done so far, and also see if anyone else knows how to do this.
This 1st one is a production photo from Episode II. I just added the lightsaber blade to the prop.

This next one is a pic I found of two guys messing around in a yard, but I thought I'd make it a bit more epic:

They look really cool!
I've also tried something similar, but the result wasn't the best... <.<

Thanks! I'll check it when I can!
Also, I use one other method, since I rarely create images, I limit myself to cut and paste, then perfect, using Powerpoint, Paint and sometimes a little Photoshop, but rarely...

Here's an updated version of the second pic, this time with light from the clashing blades:

It looks like with that one can, with patience, create stills & screen shots from what one could pretend to be a movie one has made.

I've seen a similar tutorial on lightsaber creations on Photoshop...which I've used, and I must say it works wonders! These are very well done. I've been meaning to take more snapshots of myself with a lightsaber and manipulate the image, but no such luck.

Good luck. Maybe some of the folks here can share tips.
