It may need some work (my skill) but I seem to be getting closer and closer to Disney/Universal standards as a digital painting artists. =)

Let me know what y'all think!

Looks good to me :) Though the edges dont fade away like lbtl can do, maybe he can tip you about something. ( I dont know either how to do that)

Your skills are definitely getting better. :)  The ink outline and fill are slightly separate from one another (many studios use a shade of the fill color instead of black) and that's the only thing I'd try differently and see what the result looks like.

I believe the Feather effect is used to achieve that. :)

Select -> Modify -> Feather in Photoshop CS3.

This I know is at least related to the fadeout 'trick'.

Nice drawing and well done.  Hope you continue.  You may be surprised at your skill if you do continue.

thanks, guys. And Petrie, thanks for the tip. I figured that's why the image still looked so... off (aside from awkward body biology) I've been toying around to see how I could get the lines painted like your sugesting, and I may have found a solution for it =)

as for the fading. No, its not perfect. I'm in fact not really using Photoshop, but Paint Shop Pro. And I'm tinkering with the eraser tool to see how I can get a good blend on the transparency. But that's the least of my concerns at the momment.

The 'painted' background was in fact done by the airbrush tool in Paint Shop Pro. I'm working and learning ways to improve on this technique. My cousin Patrick was so impressed he flat out asked me "Why the $#% are you not working at a studio right now?" Simple answer... I'm working on it. =) I first need to make images to start sending out. and I still need some improvement before I could commit to such a job.

I've been downloading images off of LBTLover's website for study. The background art for the more recent LBT films are simply very stunning and visually eye candy.

If anybody can reference me to some other high resolution screens of other well done animated films. I'd be eternally grateful! =) Lion King, Bambi, Brother Bear, you name it!
