Yep, after months of dormancy, the one-post-wonder has returned!
I figured making a new topic would be less confusing than digging up my old welcome post, so heeeeere we go!

My name is Erika. Feel free to call me by it, or by any part of my username. Whatever works for you, works for me  :D

I'm currently a freshman in college, majoring in 2D animation, but I'm seriously considering joining the air-force instead. I will always truly love drawing, but I just don't think I want to work in the industry. I'm too meticulous when it comes to art  :p It breaks my heart to have to do a rushed job to meet a deadline.
Other than art, my interests vary widely. Whenever I have the time, I'll read any book anyone throws at me. I love mathematics, and really want to take more math courses. Another reason not to be in art school, haha. I have a passion for aviation and space exploration, and am currently working towards getting my Private Pilot's License. Honestly I just love learning. Share whatever knowledge you might have! You'll win my eternal gratitude.

You all seem like amazing people from what I've seen so far! Thanks for being patient with a noob  :p I look forward to talking with you guys!

Welcome to the gang of five.  I've always thought that you should follow your dreams and do what you want to do regardless of what others expect of you or how much money it'll pay.  If you like drawing then draw.  If you don't want to have a career in drawing then don't.  Just do what you want and you'll be happy (so long as you keep the future in mind and how your actions will affect you later on in life). :yes

Haha, yeah, I didn't exactly have the largest attention span back then :rolleyes But I'm very glad I rediscovered this place. It feels kind of like I've stumbled upon the Great Valley of the internet after wandering around in the Mysterious Beyond, if you'll forgive my corny metaphor :lol

Thanks very much for the support! I'm constantly forgetting that 'Dropping out of art school to join the Air Force' sounds a lot different when said aloud than it does in my head :lol But you're right. I've just gotta exercise prudence and follow my happiness. Life's quite a journey, I'm sure I'll have time to do many different things :)

For those of you who don't know me, I was a pretty active member here a while back! Unfortunately I have not had much of a presence here of late. Hopefully, that shall change :p

As a quick update, this is what has happened to me since I was last active:

I returned from my deployment, safe and sound, and hung around Germany for a few more months before they changed my duty station to a base back in the states. (I miss Germany! Such a beautiful country.) I have been settling in here as best as I can, and fortunately only have two years left in the army :)
I am also engaged now, and planning a wedding, as well as working on an art portfolio so that I can hopefully get a job in the animation or game design field when I finish my contract.

So that's the news on me, if anyone wanted to know  :smile

I hope you've all been well! It makes me extremely happy to see that this site is still continuing successfully :yes

I lived in... I think the little town was called Obereichenbach. It was a small town in Bavaria. The base was called Katterbach Kaserne, so that's usually what I say when I answer that question :p
As for where I've been, Nurnberg, Berlin, Munich, and Bayerisch Eisenstein to name a few. I went to many other countries in europe as well. I really hope I get the chance to go back, it was wonderful :)

Well, probably not a big studio, unless I decide to go the story artist or concept artist route. There's still 2D work being done for TV animation, as well as for phone app games. There are also smaller studios producing 2-D, as well as options for freelance work. I'll just have to check around and start networking when the time gets a little closer :smile
