^ Member of the Donald Duck comic Iris? Member of a fanclub of Donald Duck comics you mean?Hehe maybe of the fanclub :angel I probably have, but I don't usually look at the artist because usually they aren't mentioned at all. Could you give an example?
Do you know those comics drawn by Don Rosa? They are plain awesome! :yes
I think the most famous work of Don Rosa is the series whose English title (I think) is "The life and times of Scrooge McDucky" which tells about the youth and the whole life of Scrooge McDuck beginning in the 1870s. As a historian one cannot but love those comics as Don Rosa let so many historical events and characters (among many others Teddy Roosevelt, Wyatt Earp, Jesse James, Geronimo, Czar Nicholas II. appear).Oh boy, do I know that one. I remember I loved reading it when getting it from the library when I was about 9 years old. :yes
Also Don Rosa's comics are full of references to the earlier comics by Carl Barks.

I'm still looking to visit Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and more of the Caribbean Islands ;)Hey Jay, what about Germany? I'm so much looking forward to that one :yes
I have seen so many 80s gun movies i cary a airsoft gun (ak-47) as if their will be somthing in need of shooting :lolJohn Lennon disapproves of guns

Great Drake.. anything else you want to tell us..:lol
My favorite villain of all time is Maleficent! :)Ah the one movie I haven't seen in like forever, Sleeping Beauty.
I have had a dream of an unknown land as a kid and several years later, I went on holiday and the area was EXACTLY how I saw it in my dream despite never been there before! My weirdest case of Deja vu :blink:Nice

Nice job Littlefoot! well done! is that the best your team has ever done?
^ Bad decision Iris. Even while there are exceptions of course, many people will greet you in return and keep a more positive view of you in mind than they would without the greeting. I made the experience that a simple hi, or even a mere smile or friendly not can sometimes change the world and be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.I was only 5 or 6 when I decided that. I do say hi to most people today, or at last nod. I just remember feeling sad and ignored.
Another random LF1616 fact. I've been bumped, bashed, burned, crashed, cut, fallen out of trees, bruised and generally battered black and blue through trips and tumbles throughout my life. Funnily enough, despite all that, I've never broken anything! :lol:blink: That makes two of us, Littlefoot1616.
I have actually felt something, like a spirit or some being touching my hand or hugging me.
A couple of years ago, I asked to have just half an inch of my hair trimmed off, but my instructions were misinterpreted. So... I ended up with a shaved head :oops. I wouldn't ever want that to happen :p

Well, that's definitely a deep question that deserves a deep answer. I love learning about different religions even outside my own. I want to know what were the very first foundations of religion, why was it made, and how does it benefit people today. I want to know what truth is, if there is a truth. I'm simply fascinated with religion. :)
Darkwolf, I too have a very good memory and have thing for numbers. did you know the biggest prime number is 13 MILLION digits long?Wow, no! I didn't know there was a biggest prime number. I guess I always just assumed that they continued infinitely. That's fascinating!
I often wonder how the world would be without me....better.I try not to be hurtful, but that is a load of CRAP. Of course, we are all small compared to the world, but that doesn't mean that we don't make a difference to the world. That is the philosophy of a pessimist, and I don't think that you should feel that way. It's better to be arrogant than have no self-esteem.
It doesn't make any difference if I'm here or not anyway.
I often wonder how the world would be without me....better.I used to be that way. I'm sure the more active members of this community remembers me like that when I first came here. I hated life, and it wasn't just some "teenage thing", it was real pain, it was not in anyway superficial. I couldn't really trust anyone, I hated myself for everything I was, I hated the school I was at because it was so FRIGGEN religious and I had no friends there AT ALL. Or at least, I didn't have any close friends. It wasn't until I became a Christian and took anti-depressants, I finally was able to get out of that funk.
It doesn't make any difference if I'm here or not anyway.

Whenever I watch movies, especially scary movies, I am never freaked out by blood or graphic violence. Call me crazy, but I guess the reason is because I was exposed to it when I was younger. for me its weird, i dont mind graphic violence *Yay vilolence*, but i just get jumpy in scary movies, and i dont get it, i can watch someone get torn apart in a movie, but before then, i get jumpy.Your exactly right. Well, Death, is usually, something always hard to deal with, and even if I died, the world is huge, its not as if 1 person is gonna make the difference, besides, someone would replace me, and life would go on.
Even real life blood and gore do not bother me. I had considered careers as a mortician and a medical examiner before deciding on nursing then switching to recreation. I may even seek a degree in forensics so I can work with a homicide unit as a side career. The human body and forensics have always fascinated me so much, and with the help of kicka** videogames, scary movies and working as a certified nursing assistant aka caregiver/CNA since I was sixteen, I have grown to not be squeamish.Quote from: LBTFan13,Apr 19 2009 on 10:17 AMWhenever I watch movies, especially scary movies, I am never freaked out by blood or graphic violence. According to an online hearing test (http://www.ultrasonic-ringtones.com/), I can hear up into the 21.1 kHz zone. I'm doubtful though.Hearing tones means nothing when you're looking at real music. Play any real music and those high frequences will be drowned out by the midrange because that is what human hearing is naturally most sensitive to. Just wanted to point that out.

Ergh! Stop confusing me reality!Well, both of them. Current must be at least 20-50mA, voltage must be at least 50Volts and there's another thing: the frequency. If the frequency is high enough it won't hurt you. Above 5000Hz it's safe I can say as the current can't reach your heart. It's based on the skin effect.
First I hear that it is the current that kills people when they are electrocuted, then I hear that it is the voltage, now I hear that it should be the current again! Make up your mind, electromagnetism goblins!

I tend to become unbearably irritated by repeated intermittent noises, such as snoring (even light snoring), dripping faucets, beeping alarm clocks, ringing telephones, and chirping crickets.High-pitched noises hurt my ears. I get tinnitus (ringing in the ears) from being near a running blowdryer . I use earplugs when I use lawn equipment; otherwise, I'm pretty much deaf for a little while after using a lawnmower.
I love dragonflies. :p Not only do they prey on mosquitoes (which are so common here in Minnesota that they’ve been jokingly called the unofficial state bird), they don’t sting or bite, and they’re darned fascinating insects.I think dragonflies look cool.
On average, I replace my non-formal pair of shoes every 2 years.Nope. It works as the title says. Anything between Earth and Heaven. ;)
(Is your fact supposed to link tenuously to the last one posted?)

I have dozens of pencils, but can never find one when I want one...I have the same problem with scissors, tape, plastic bags, and flashlights. :P:

I'm not a soup person but I LOVE the Tomato soup at Mollie Stones. :)
I love jelly beans.Who doesn't? :o
I only like Red Mill's pancakes where it's gluten free and such. Otherwise, I hate pancakes. :pThey're too sweet for me. :xI'm not picky about the brand of pancakes I eat, but I'm VERY picky about how I eat them. :p I prefer blueberry pancakes with copious amounts of refrigerated maple syrup, cooked so that they are as soft and untextured as possible. If I can’t get blueberry, I’ll settle for plain, with butter or the aforementioned cold syrup.
I talk to myself almost constantly; mostly muttering my own thoughts under my breath, or uttering random words or noises that I like the sound of. Paradoxically, while I like things quiet, it seems that I can't abide total silence. :pSame here.

I have a habit of wearing a particular t-shirt for each day of the week. For example, if it's Thursday, I'll wear the blue t-shirt. If it's Monday, I'll wear the black t-shirt that has a yellow stripe across the front. Now that I don't have a school schedule to follow, this habit is actually one of the best ways of telling me what day it is. I'm currently wearing a red t-shirt that has a blue stripe across the front, so that tells me today is Friday. What happens if a T-shirt for that particular day is in the wash?
All my "jobs" (volunteer work) has been in the healthcare field.Same here. My volunteer work is at a medial library.

I'm bored as heck if I got nothing to do and no one to talk to :pI hear you there. :rolleyes I get bored EXTREMELY easily. I like to talk, too, so if there's no one around with whom I can converse withóeven if I'm NOT boredóI often find myself uttering random words to break the silence. :p
I was almost hit by lightning this evening :o. I was in my truck, heading to work, when a lightning bolt struck the ground about ten feet to the left of me. Man, was I lucky !Wow that must've been scary.

Man, was I lucky !Ho-ly buckets... :wow I think I might just die of fright if that happened to me. :p I thought I was spooked this morning when I was outside, and was suddenly buzzed by a huge flying bug (a sphinx moth, I think, but one that was big enough to pass for a hummingbird). That was enough to make my heart rate (as well as me physically, almost :lol) skyrocket; imagine how I'd react to a lightning bolt.

I had my first taste of an alcoholic beverage (some kind of wine whose name I can neither remember nor spell dino_tongue.gif) the other day at dinner. As I predicted over a month back, I hated the taste. yucky1.gif tongue.gif Waaaaaay too bitter for me.
It probably won't be the last alcoholic drink I try, but I'm kind of hoping that I don't find one that tastes good to me. :p The trouble with me is, when I find something I like, it usually becomes an addiction for me. (Take LBT, for example, :p or dinosaurs, or trilobites, or bats, or kiwi, or other animals, or root beer, or pizza, or certain books, or rocks and fossils, or Ice Age 3...the list goes on.) It'd probably be bad if I found a form of alcohol I enjoyed so much that I wanted to drink it all the time. :pQuoteI had my first taste of an alcoholic beverage (some kind of wine whose name I can neither remember nor spell dino_tongue.gif) the other day at dinner. Depends on what you drink...some are much more bitter than others. For example, I haven't an acquired taste for Guinness (a dark beer). Now THAT is bitter. ;) I prefer the wines and harder liquors over beer.
I won't ever smoke. There's no doubt in that at all.Neither will I. The prospect of flooding my lungs with the carcinogenic fumes of a burning poisonous plant has somehow never appealed to me :p (no offense to any smokers who might be reading this).
I often can't resist getting spoilers for books and movies.Same here. I'm trying to break that habit, especially when it comes to books, movies, and TV shows that I know (or strongly suspect :p) I'll like a lot.
I've been gambling since I was 12.
I start 11th grade tomorrow.Me too :)
I recently realized that my body probably isn't suited well for being outside (at least not like it used to when I was a kid). Today and yesterday, I helped my family and grandparents at a yard sale. Yesterday, I think I was outside for about a total of five or six hours, but I got sunburn on the backs of my arms, hands, and neck. Today, I decided to spend less time outside and wear my jacket whenever I was outside to prevent my sunburn from getting worse. Even though I often wear my jacket whenever I'm outside, 75 degrees and sunny skies isn't exactly good weather to wear a jacket.I'm pretty susceptible to sunburns myself, probably because I have such pale skin. I don't usually get them, though, since no matter what the weather is, I always wear the same wardrobe of long pants and turtleneck shirts. :p
I REALLY don't like roller coasters. They scare the pants off me.I'm the complete opposite :p. The bigger, the better!
I do have a habit of exceeding the speed limit when I drive...sometimes to dangerous levels (80 mph on a 40 mph speed limit straight road or a turn at 40-50 mph [did this when I was toned out to the first aid station].I have a lead foot when it comes to driving. Then again, nobody in my area goes the speed limit anyway :p. Especially on the expressways. The speed limit is 55 MPH. Slower traffic moves at 65 MPH, and those of us who are speed demons go at least 75 MPH. The best part of all: Cops are driving right along with us and not pulling anyone over :lol.
I also programmed a robotic arm once, in high school.Nice. I built and programmed an autonomous wheeled breadboard to follow a line.
When my arm hurts I want to hit somebody.Wouldn't that hurt your arm more? Or make both hurt?
For some unknown reason, I cannot seem to feel empathy.I have the exact same problem. Apparently it's because I have Asperger Syndrome, which is in fact largely characterized by a limited capacity for empathy.
I once walked into a parking meter. :D Although it wasn't so funny for someone in middle school.Something similar happened to me either. I walked into road sign on the sidewalk. Luckily, it didn't hurt so much, but it made me feeling a bit dizzy for a moment. Moral? Always watch out for road sings, even if you are not driving. :D
I tend to yell/curse at my computer a LOT.I only do that either if the computer's moving too slowly or if I come across a LBT hatefic.
I hate adds about Teens and acne. Why can't society leave me and my generation alone? :bang It's NORMAL to have acne, but these advertisments make it such a big deal...Agreed!
I have a habit of making lists of things (usually relating to movies, TV shows, books, etc.) for no real reason.
I have unusual musical tastes... rap music and classical... two music forms that are very, very different, yet I like them both.I do to except it's rap and Broadway show tunes.
I hate being left out of things, I feel so awkward when people are doing things and I ask their help, but they don't need or want any...I just feel useless at that moment....Augh...That happens to me just about every time I'm assigned to do group work in class... :rolleyes I HATE it!

I've never been a big fan of birds... but I do like parrots for their intelligence. I don't ever plan on owning one, though. They can be pretty messy, especially if their cages are not cleaned at least every other day :p.
Over time, I have become less afraid of big crowds, even to the point of me performing in front of them. :)I still get very nervous and disoriented around crowds. Not only does being surrounded by people provoke my social insecurities, but I don't like bumping into or brushing up against strangers, which, in a crowd, can be hard to avoid.
I once held a Burmese python.I did that a couple weeks ago. The keepers said the python weighed twenty pounds, but it felt like it was a lot heavier. :lol
I'll be fired in April... They have no money to pay us (those who have my job too, putting books on their shelfs) anymore, so we have to leave.Sorry to hear about that. :(
Kinda sad.
I'm a crowd person. I love getting lost in huge crowds, there's something fascinating in being lost in the cloud of thoughts and feelings of so many people as they go about their lives... to wonder who they are, what do they feel? What are they thinking? A mass of human chaos, and I am just one tiny fragment in all that.Quote from: Rat_lady7,Nov 27 2009 on 12:15 PMOver time, I have become less afraid of big crowds, even to the point of me performing in front of them. :)I still get very nervous and disoriented around crowds. ^I'm not wild about liquers either. What was your first drink?A reeeeeally tiny sip of wine (red, I think) at a restaurant in late August of this year. Even that made me frantic to wash the taste out of my mouth. :lol I don't like foods or beverages with a strong bitter flavor, so alcohol's probably not for me.
Here’s what I personally consider to be one of the most unusual and interesting facts about me:I used to call my parents by their first names too. I think all that had to do with was I didn't hear anyone else calling my parents "mom" and "dad", so I called them by their first names. :confused
I have always called both of my parents by their first namesóliterally, ALWAYS. Apparently, when I was learning to talk, I would listen to them address each other by name, and assumed that that’s what I was supposed to call them.
My siblings emulated my habit for a while, but since then they have reverted to calling our parents by the customary titles of “Mom” and “Dad”, leaving me alone to continue this strange habit. :P:
EDIT: My 999th post! :wow
My body temperature is quite low (mid 97 to mid 98 is normal). My vital signs except for respirations tend to run low:
I naturally have extremely hard and sharp nails.I'm not entirely sure about how my nails compare to other people's, but I suspect that they'd get a pretty high hardness and sharpness rating, too. My fingernails also seem to grow very fast; maybe an eighth of an inch per month. (Tell you what: I'll clip them right now, and when February comes along, I'll tell you how much they've grown. :p)
I used to like Nickelodeon, back during the "golden days" of the 1990s and early 2000s. Doug, All That, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Keenan and Kel, and a few other shows were the best!I remember All That. That was like SNL For Kids/Young Adults.

My favourite comic strips from the newpaper is Garfield. He's just awesome to me ^^I'm a fan of the Garfield comic strips but I have to say that my all time fav has to be Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang :D
I know what E. coli smells like (a combination of vomit, bathroom from hell and garbage).I'm not sure if that compares to a cat that's been dead in a garage during a warm month for a month :x. Seriously, that happened to my family and I several years back. We were wonderin' what the hell was causin' such a stink in the garage, so we investigated. And investigated. And investigated. Finally, we found a dead cat next to an empty box of chocolate brownies. Don't ask me why the brownies were out there in the first place :lol. We were in the process of movin' to a new house.
I have a sense of smell that switches on and off. Sometimes I can smell things vividly, other times no matter how hard I concentrate, I can't smell a thing. :blink:That happens to me occasionally, and it more frequently happens to my sense of hearing. At random times, my radar ears will all of a sudden become nearly deaf for a few minutes, then return back to normal :crazy. That once happened with my vision as well when I was younger. I woke up blind and remained that way for who knows how long. Considering I had been awakened by a terrible nightmare about a killer in the house, I was not too thrilled about this .
I do know that high heat combined with high humidity really kills me.Then don't visit my neck o' the woods in the summer (southeastern Virginia) :o! I actually have a high tolerance for and like warm weather. To me, anything below the high 80s starts to feel like winter :lol.
I can't STAND hot weather, :x I like it sunny and warm with a crisp air. :yesThat about describes my ideal sort of weather, too.
Ironically, I've always been fascinated by tropical rainforests, and for a long time I really wanted to visit one. I vote democratic but am considering a switch to an independent status. Neither party is doing a very good job right now.I agree, all of these little nit pick "battles" between the Republicans and Democrats are so silly.
i was the only student in my 8th grade class to correctly identify all the states and their capitalsI was one of only five students out of around forty students in a COLLEGE level course to name all fifty states and their capitals . This was for extra credit during the final exam for a class last semester. The point I'm trying to make is that it is both shocking and sad that there are Americans who do not even know this much about their country. Reminds me of that video about Americans being stupid (I think that was even the title ).
Reminds me of that video about Americans being stupid (I think that was even the title  ).Stupidity is not an American only privilege. We had students in our senior grade incapable of naming the continents or find Germany on a globe. Many here don't know the German "Bundesl‰nder" and their capitals either even though we got only 16 to remember three of which are "citystates" so to speak so the names of the "Bundesland" and its capital would be identical.
And when I laugh...I can laugh for LONG periods of time, to the point where I'm out of breath. :lol :lol:Me, too :lol! I can be on the floor, lookin' like I'm convulsing, my life flashing before me 'cuz I'm not getting oxygen, and I still can't stop laughing :lol!
I know how to induce powerful adrenaline rushes in myself. All I have to do is think of something that pisses me off (usually from something that I read). I can make myself go from calm and easy-going to hyper and in a rage within a minute.Believe it or not, I can do the same exact thing. But usually it happens by accident. There are some things that get me worked up very quickly if I think about them, so I usually avoid doing it if I can.

As for food, I've gotten so used to healthy food that most junk foods taste gross to me.Lucky! :p
^ I have hardly any idea which food would be considered specifically German, nor do I think many others around here would :lolI immediately think of Pumpernickel, Bratwurst and Sauerkraut. Though I have a nagging feeling that one or more of them aren't really German in origin... :p
What does everyone think is "German cuisine"?
It was the Germans that put cheese and apples together and they taste awesome together! biggrin.gifThat's supposed to be German? I must say I never even heard of this so far.
I love chocolate too! Especially triple dark chocolate! The darker the better I say! ;)Same here! Milk chocolate is too sweet in my opinion, and white chocolate does not serve any health benefits :x.
I hate marshmallows. You and me both, I don't like marshmallows as much myself.
As for bread, I don't like white bread at all, mostly 'cuz it's so processed and it's not good for ya. Unike Pangaea, I eat mostly breads with seeds and nuts in it. I like multi-grain, sometimes potato, dark rye, and pumpernickel bread. Here in Australia, fully processed white bread is basically non-existent. Visiting relatives from the US have told me that the white bread you can buy in supermarkets in Australia is usually found only in health shops in America... Over there, the white bread manufacturers bake bread for maximum softness so it's only just cooked - basically still dough. :x That's why it feels like a rock in your stomach, and you don't get any nutritional benefit from it. Over here on the other hand, there are no breads that I know of that are baked in that way, and if there are you'd be hard pressed to find any.
-I tried Pumpernickel once a long time ago... and I swore never to again. :x Sorry Malte... :pNot at all, of the different kinds of dark bread existing Pumpernickel would certainly not be my first choice either (though I may not consider it as bad as you do).
-I don't mind Rye Bread (particularly good with cheese)Amen to that :yes
I hate it when people think I weigh less then what a really weigh. >.> Seriously people, do I really look that thin? :rolleyesDude, I deal with the same thing :p. I'm 5'2" and currently weigh around 140 pounds, but so many folks think I weigh no greater than 120 pounds :crazy. I look like I'm mostly made of lean muscle mass, though. I would hope so, with all the exercising and healthy eating I do.
Both of them had a rather low bloodsuggar level at which I know some non-diabetics would get shaky. A value of 59 is almost a Hypoglycamia (Unterzuckerung). Do you happen to have done any hard work or sports or not eaten for a good while before comming up with so low a bloodsuggar Waluigifan?Hm... I don't know anymore. xD If I would know, which day it was exactly... but I know that it was 10pm at that day.

I like the promise of nuclear power, although I also believe in very tight codes of safety for such power plants.First off, thanks to jedi472. And good luck on the AP Chem. I got a 5 myself, and I was not doing well in my chem class either.
Secondly, to Noname, the only two nuclear disasters, Chernobyl and Three Mile Island, were caused by a violation of the protocol for the operation of nuclear power plants. So the operation of nuclear power plants is pretty safe when the rules are followed.Sorry, but you are mistaken there. Undoubtedly Chernobyl was the worst accident in the history of civil nuclear technology and Three Mile Island was one which could have become much worse and got a lot more media attention than many other cases.

His rumored mental status at the time makes me feel he was too impaired to make a sound judgment on a subject as serious as suicide, so I believe it was more accidental than anything else.

All in all, I'm not the kind of person you'd want on your team. :pI know what you mean, dude. When I get angry, NO ONE can calm me down. In fact, if people tell me to calm down, I'll just get even more mad....:angerSame here :exactly.
I don't do any April Fools jokes myself, because they seem to be rather....pointless in the end, fun yes, but thinking of a joke of some sort gets rather annoying. The fun is the point.
I downloaded a $6.99 game called "Age of Castles", but I don't know if it works on Windows 7. It installed, but I haven't been able to get it to work.Uh oh, I'm sorry. I had the game myself and though it worked fine on my old computer it felt like a fraud. After about eight to ten minutes one knew everything that could be found in the game and most of the time there just wasn't anything to do. Much of the graphics had been copied from Age of Empires 2. I hope that you can enjoy the game better than I could.
I'm about 85% sure I'm going to become a complete nerd when DC Universe Online comes out. It just looks so great :cryOh, you and me both Alex, you and me both.
...ever so patiently...Yeah, that's a good way to describe it.
Well I definitely don't dance, and definitely can't crank dat soulja boy, so don't feel too bad.It was real easy for me once I watched the step by step moves for like the 15th time.
I have a terrible fear of heights. Even standing on a chair can freak me out a bit.....so do not ask me to repair your roof, I will refuse.....that is too high for me.....Me too. Subsequently, there are very few thrill rides I'm willing to go on.
Oh, another random fact about me. My favourite Disney character is Stitch! ;) Coz he's cute and fluffy (as he states) :pYou and me both, I too just love Stitch, one of the best cartoon characters around imo ^^
I am a pipe smoker. Blame my two best friends for that. But yeah.Don't blame your friends for that. Peer pressure is a joke. I have a friend who always tells me he's going to get me laid one day and get me to start drinking. I laugh at him every time and tell him that I will never degrade myself to his level and destroy my life like he has.
Congrats, Pangaea :goodluck!Thank you, Anna. :^.^:
I am about to graduate college! You too, huh? Congratulations! :smile
So far I was the only one I ever knew whose expanses for the drivers license reached the 3000 Euro mark.I've needed 40 hours, the driving teacher my family chose is a hustler! It would have been better if we chose another teacher... but it was too late...
Everyone gets diagnosed with some kind of autism these days. This is a subject for the aforementioned Asperger's Syndrome thread (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=3429) (quote me and post there if you wish to respond), but while is certainly likely that several people believe themselves to have Asperger's or other ASDs due to taking an online test (considerably less reliable than a professional evaluation), when in fact that they do not, but there are definitely individuals who are genuinely on the autism spectrum. Furthermore, I have heard that ASD diagnoses may appear to be on the increase because people are more aware of them.
Personally, I think these diagnosises are asinine.
Oh... well, I didn't know that were others here who have it. Thanks for telling me that Pangaea. It's good to know that I'm not the only one. You're welcome. I thought the same thing when I came here and found that out. :D (You know, this means that two LBT fans with Asperger's made their introductory posts on the GOF on the same day of the year, two years in a row . . . who'da thunk it? :wow)
I indeed do not have any medical condition that I can brag about. :(My deepest sympathies to you for that one :lol

On this forum, I have a strange habit of having to make posts at rather specific times. In other words, when I write a post, I refuse to actually post it at times like 8:37 or 1:19 or 7:59. I have to to click the "Add Reply" button at times like 3:00 or 5:30 or 9:15. The same goes for PMs. As an example, just take a look at where it says "Posted on..." above this post. (And yes, this often means I have to wait a few minutes if I finish writing my post earlier than I had expected.)That reminds me of my habit of liking to post at hour marks, five-or-ten-minute intervals (XX:15, XX:30, etc.), and at times that are palindromes (12:21, 3:03) or contain only one number (11:11, 4:44). I don't know why I do it :confused (and it's not something I obsess over, or put a whole lot of effort into); it's just another one of my weird little quirks. :p
I tend to obsess about random things for unexplainable reasons for certain amounts of time. My most current obsession is eating disorders .That reminds me vaguely of my habit of becoming intensely interested in particular subjects (usually a certain kind of animal) for a length of time, before that interest is supplanted by another. In most cases the interests do not fade away entirely, but I simply become less actively engaged in them (e.g., not spontaneously seeking out further information on the subject).

I've worn glasses since 4th grade.I think that's about the same time I first got glasses, too. Back then, though, I barely wore them for anything besides looking at the board in class, and carried them around in a case most of the time. Later on I started wearing them more often, like when I watched movies in the theater. Nowadays I almost never take them off during my waking hours, and use my glasses case for storing pieces of paper that I write notes on. :lol
Every now and then (especially when I’m feeling tired or absentmindedówhich is unfortunately almost always nowadays), when someone addresses me with a greeting or other phrase that is customarily given in a particular social context, I goof up with my obligatory reply.I have had a lifelong problem with "echoing". I was in speech therapy as a kid, so my speech problem is not nearly as severe as it once was. It still comes out at times, though.
Sometimes the slip-ups are reasonable, such as if I’m going to bed at a time when another family member is just starting the day, who tells me “goodnight”, and I say the same thing back; or if I greet someone who has woken up past noon with “good morning”. Other times my response is completely incompatible given the scenario. For instance, after dinner a couple of days ago I was thanked for putting my dish away, and I almost said “goodnight” in return. Oftentimes I realize that I’m mincing my words before I’ve finished the phrase (or, as in the above case, even started it), and correct myself, but there are also cases in which I do not even realize I am saying the wrong thing until I am finished, and either reflect on what I just said or have my mistake pointed out to me by someone else.
A lot of the time it seems like my brain is operating my mouth on autopilot, and stuck in the mode when my reply should be the same words the first person said to me (such as “goodbye” or “good morning”); there have been times when someone has said “happy birthday” to me, and I say “happy birthday” back. :slap :lol And don’t get me started with all the times I’ve said “thank you” instead of “you’re welcome”, and vice versa. :rolleyes
Same for me, except I started in 6th grade, and I leave my glasses case by the clock near my bed and put my glasses in it every time I go to bed and take them out when I wake up.Quote from: brekclub85,Jul 7 2010 on 10:46 PMI've worn glasses since 4th grade.I think that's about the same time I first got glasses, too. Since I'll be going to college about a month from now for the first time, my dad bought me a new laptop for me to use while I'm there. I am currently using it right now, and I'm planning to do all of my web browsing on this laptop from now on. It has Windows 7 on it, a system that I have never used before.Oh, nice. Same here for the college thing, except I got a desktop. By the way, where are you going again? You probably mentioned it, but I never saw the post(s).
I've always had a fascination for astronomy, and I've always been very good in my math classes, so I figured that I should find a career that combined both of them, and aerospace engineering seemed like an ideal option for me.Actually, The Consumerist published an article about the ten top-paying degrees, and seven of the ten were engineering, one was economics, one was physics, and one was computer science. So, assuming that you get through college successfully (I have full confidence that you will because math gives people POWER), you'll have a nice career waiting for you. And so will I, for that matter.
One benefit I see for majoring in mechanical engineering is that (I hope) it'll give me more options of which career or job I might be able to get, and let's face it, in this economy people will take a job anywhere they can get one. (After all, I've failed to get a summer job this year for the second time in a row.)

I'm considered to be in great physical condition, and as of this past month, my body fat percentage is estimated to be around 23% (a marathon runner averages a 20% total body fat percentage).Aaaaand those are the areas in which the two of us are complete opposites. :p I have pathetic stamina as far as any strenuous activity goes, and am still very much out of shape (There's no way I could have managed the same hike in that amount of time ). I have no clue what my body fat percentage is, but considering that the consistency of most of my body tissue is somewhere between that of a marshmallow and an uncooked chicken breast, I'm pretty sure that it's higher than 23%. :p
Yesterday, I did one crazy marathon of a day hike: 27 miles in five minutes under fourteen hours :wow. I went five miles around a lake, five miles up a canyon, three miles across another canyon, two and a half miles up the side of a mountain and over a divide at 10,700 feet above sea level, down a ten-mile canyon, and then four and a half miles around a lake and back to my vehicle. It was tough but definitely worth it :D.

A main problem when I am drawing on paper is that I am drawing way to small. If for example I draw Littlefoot, Cera, or Spike in a scale that I like Ducky, Petrie, or Chomper drawn in the same scale would turn out to be too small to allow for the degree of detail that I want to give them. If however I draw them in a scale that allows for all of that detail I end up with the sheet of paper to be too small for the complete motive (and I find Din A3 formated paper to be to unwieldy to work with, not to mention that I don't have a scanner that could cover it). :bangI run into those same problems all the time when I'm drawing. :rolleyes And I'm terrible at drawing characters or objects to scale.

About 6 months ago or something, I had a TERRIBLE habit that I just recently broke. Whenever I used to type, I would NEVER use capitals! Everything was always lowercase.Yes same here. Back when I was thirteen I use to type like that. I typed in all lower case and I used very bad grammar. I use to type like this: how r u 2 day. That I got yelled at by some online friends about that typing so I changed and I have been typing like this ever since. I even do that when I text. I hate when people send me text's that are typed like a moron typed or a 12 year old types. Heck I've seen a 12 year old type like this and I was shocked.
I have a perfectly valid reason and it is not a waste of money. My therapist suggested it to me and it has helped me control my tempers.Indeed, the books on alternative medicine I have recommend it for those who need to let out their anger "audibly" and not just visually. Personally, I use distance running to keep my temper tamed ;).
There is a lot better way to do it and not costly and a waste of money. When I'm mad I just go for walks and listen to music instead of wasting money on stuff to buy and than break two seconds later.Yes, but for me a walk and music doesn't cut it. At least, not when I got angry. I mean, I've wasted hundreds of dollars on broken phones, tables, windows, doors. All because my temper is a bit over the top. So, I was presented with an alternative that sounded great. Besides, I spend roughly $40 for the room. And since my temper is more under control, I go in there maybe once every other week. Sometimes more frequent. But to be honest, it's not a big waste of money. It does good for me.
I'm, in a sense, afraid of horse. Mainly for the fact that if I walk behind them....that they'll give me a good old boot to the face. And not to mention I don't like riding them either. Tried it when I was a kid, got scared when it started trotting and haven't really ridden a horse since.I can understand why someone would be afraid of horses, for me its the other way around. After all, the advantage of rising a horse is that you never feel lonely.
I think I'll keep it that way too

I'm a very, very good faker. Probably in part due to my autism, I really don't actually feel very many emotions, but I can certainly act the part.I'm quite the opposite. I'm probably one of the world's most terrible liars, and honest to a fault. I tend to not sugarcoat anything and yet be diplomatic at the same time :p.
I have an odd habit of reflexively saying "ow" or "ouch" when I'm not hurt, usually when I bump into things, knock something over, or perform some other act of clumsiness, especially when it results in a loud noise. Those things tend to make me flinch, and my involuntary exclamations of nonexistent pain tend to come hand-in-hand with such reactions.I have a tendency to do that, too. Only difference is, if I cause a mess (break something, spill something, etc.) or if I feel any pain from what happened, the "Ow" or "Ouch" is followed by "S***!" :p :lol. At least I manage to keep that part under wraps at work and in public places ;).

I use them as a weapon against my sister, cousin etc... :lolYou're evil! :lol
I used to have this irrational fear of stepping on dried grass, which is why I was always last in a race and why I always cringed whenever we were told to go outside :lolHey, at least two of us don't like balloons, so there's no judgement here :p I used to be scared of bugs in the grass when I was little, so I can see where you're coming from
C'mon! Dried grass can be painful!
I can't yell with my normal voice. If I try, I either sound monotone or my voice breaks. If I yell, my voice gets really high and it's hard to understand what I'm saying :lol. Another reason why, for me anyway, staying calm during an argument helps get the point across better :p. I rarely find myself in arguments because I hate them, and they usually solve nothing. Debates are another story ;).
Earlier today (as in an hour and a half ago), I had stapled my thumb during math class. I am now at home recovering.Ouch !
Earlier today (as in an hour and a half ago), I had stapled my thumb during math class. I am now at home recovering. That reminds me of an incident in fifth grade, I don't remember what the class was doing, but I started rubbing my finger on the back of a scissor blade in though. I ended up switching over to the blade and gouged my thumb. It was like a little pool for my blood, and it bled a lot.
^As someone who is very spiritual, I have to say they BS'd you. Every living being has a soul. I would never trust anyone who claims they can tell my future for a price. The ones who can help with these matters without asking for payment are the true helpers.
Do keep it that way, if at all possible.
Every fortune teller I've ever talked to can't read anything about my future, all of them saying something about my lacking a soul...
Eh, so be it.
Recently, after many years of biting them off, I have finally grown a full set of fingernails.Me, too! I've finally managed to break my awful nail-biting habit :x.

I listen to a wide variety of music. There are so many artists and bands I like that it's hard to name them all; so I'd be here all day making a list of my favorite artists and bands.
Kids in elementary school used to think of me as stupid until I got to about grade 7. As I grew older, I realized that kids can be cruel and ignorant when it comes to learning disabilities. I didn't know that I had Asperger's Syndrome until I was about 11.
Thinking back to my childhood; I wish I could have stood up to those kids who called me stupid.
I'm really scared of wasps and kids used to tease me about it. Luckily for me; it didn't last too long.
I am completely unashamed to admit that I am very politically incorrect.Me too.

Yes, I had my fair share of bullies too. However, being pretty smart got me high grades and so I was admired. When I went to college though and didn't appear so smart anymore, I kinda got down on myself.

I am an avid Land Before Time fan and have all the movies on DVD. I used to have them on VHS; but, I got rid of them.
:( :bang :bang :x :p
I have been soap-free for almost half a year now. I haven't stop cleansing. I just don't use soap to do it anymore.I have ADHD too and probably OCD. Don't have bipolar disorder.
I was diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar disorder II, and ODD as a child. My ODD didn't grow with me, but my ADHD and bipolar disorder did.
I like DragonsWell you and I are dragons so that's not all that surprising :DD
I like many different types of humor, but my speciality seems to go into the dry/dark/quirky side of the spectrum Just things that are thoughtful, terrible, weird, yet brilliant.I've always been fascinated with that side of the humor spectrum. Whereas my humor tends to lean more towards the wry/witty/generally spunky side. It's like "Too much happiness, I'm surprised my brain hasn't exploded yet" :3
I tend to be one of two extremes: really disorganized and "just don't care" or "HOLY SHOOT I GOTTA GET THIS STUFF DONE RIGHT NOW!"Okay, that is weird, cause I'm pretty much the same way.
Actually, I can say that for a lot of things about my personality... weird... O_o
On the topic of phones, I held off on getting a cell phone for a really long time, as I used to have an aversion to the idea of owning one. But finally, in April of 2017, I caved in and got one... and now I love it. :DD
Yeah, I didn't want to become one of those people who look at their phones 24/7 and use social media all the time. In fact, I don't have any social media accounts except like Youtube and Google, and those I use infrequently.
Both my biological mother and father have divorced, re-married, and divorced again.
I sometimes like to postpone what I need to do during the day, I keep telling myself that I will start in about an hour. Then before I know it, it's past midnight and I'm too tired to start doing anything anymore. And then the next thing happens the following day. :lolProcrastination really sucks, doesn't it? Don't worry, I'm a huge offender of that. Although, I still somehow finish assignments that I start on the last second. Sometimes, I really push myself and get break past that procrastination barrier. It feels very satisfying to finish something early, knowing you had just freed up your schedule for free time. :D It's like a huge weight on your shoulders has been released.
These three years of my education have seemed to pass by quickly as well. Almost feels like it was yesterday when I began my studies. I'm gonna miss my school, though. These years that I've spent there will be stored in my memory for a long time after I have graduated. :)
So, I like to spray very hot water on my skin while in the shower...
Spray...? Spray?! You're in the shower, so why not just blast yourself with a torrent of hot water? Don't you have a shower head to do that? Spray seems very underwhelming.
I have a step-brother who died a few years ago from a drug overdose. That's rough, sorry to hear that.
Oh, I'm sorry, I meant to say either blast or pour the water on me. My bad. :bang
I have a step-brother who died a few years ago from a drug overdose.
It's okay. Sorry for dumping that onto you guys so suddenly. xP
Well I wasn't worried that your school didn't have Physics as much as the fact that you hadn't taken Physics yet :p
And my deadline for my work is approaching. I've worked hard with this one, so I hope that I'll pass, but we'll see that tomorrow. Today I'll edit it a little more (time to finally be productive). Wish me luck! :)

I've done it! All 180 credit units in my studies have been accomplished. Now there's only about 2 weeks left of school and then holidays! :celebrate
Summer vacation, here I come! Sophomore year, I'm ready for you! :^^spike
The only problem now is that...I have summer assignments for the two AP classes I'm taking in Sophomore year. While I didn't receive them yet per say, I heard that I'll have to do something like that. :( Also, I did plan to take health class in the summer to free up a slot in my schedule.I've never taken summer classes before but it can be a good idea as it allows you to focus on a small amount of classes at one time along with reducing the load in the year to come as you have mentioned. Best of luck with them! :smile
As for myself, my parents were up to visit for the day on their journey south and we did some shopping for some outdoor related things. Got myself a new tent so I don't have to use a second hand one that's sorta broken as well as some proper hiking shoes for the couple hikes I'm planning this summer. Got some bear spray as well just in case.
Hmm, interesting to know for that first method. I thought that just escalates the situation, since acting as big as possible is a sign of a challenge and not backing down. But then again, for other animals that method works, so I'm not sure.Well possibly haha. But if a bear is unfamiliar to humans it's doing that mostly to see if you'll run away. If the bear is with its cub well I'm probably dead no matter what haha. But yeah, I think backing away slowly works unless the bear starts taking serious interest in you. This is just stuff that I've heard though so don't take my word on it.
Thanks for the reinforcement that camping is fun! Hopefully I'll have the same experiences as you do. :)
Random trivia about me: I'd have a unibrow if I didn't repeatedly shave it.I'm in the same boat. I'm also really lazy when it comes to shaving my beard. I usually get around to it after about a month :p
I don't quite get around to it every day, but every few days... if nothing else because then it starts itching and irritating my face.
^I've learned that suddenly having days of no school because of something is good in the short term (instant gratification), but bad in the long term (days of no school may be taken away if there's too many closings, more work, etc.).Yep. That about sums it up. My Grade 7 self learned that the hard way.
Do you still like to swim?
Practiced more swimming today, specifically kicking. I felt like I was dying just kicking back and forth across the pool. So exhausting, it is, it is! :(
It'll get easier, I know it will once I build up stamina overtime. I'll thank myself and my friend later in the future for learning how to swim. It'll all be worth it. :)
Someday I want to become a independent game developer. Which is why I’m taking computer technology when high school starts!
Do you have an idea for a game in mind?
I can't stand the heat. I get along much better in the colder seasons. Heat just takes a toll on my body and mind. :areyouseriousMy heat tolerance is abysmal, unless I'm mascoting lmao. :ChomperEww
I use this as my alarm sound when it’s time to wake up:LOL!
I would be very happy, if I never had to ever visit dentist again.
I set pretty high standards and expectations for myself, usually trying to set the bar high for my goals. I'm luckily not as obsessed with it as I used to, up to the point where I'd rather just retreat in my shell and start collapsing when the going gets very rough and I don't meet the expectation that I set. These days, striving for high achievement (and perfect, if possible, school GPA) is what I still do, but I definitely will not overdo myself and take care of my mental health. It should be a priority taken seriously for everyone. Number one priority, even!
I’ve always been exactly the same way and have only recently started realizing how perfectionism has harmed me. It’s good that you’re finding a better balance for yourself at a younger age!
I’ve always been curious about the possibility of life beyond Earth, so SETI (https://www.britannica.com/event/SETI) research fascinates me. When it comes to UFO/alien sightings, though, I’m definitely a skeptic—but I enjoy reading about supposed encounters anyway, haha! Just NOT online where everything goes downhill into weird conspiracy nonsense really fast. I like the simple/classic UFO rumors from decades ago!
Seriously, though, can people just face the fact that Roswell, everyone’s favorite, got a good, hard debunking back in the 90s? :lol https://www.nytimes.com/1994/09/18/us/wreckage-in-the-desert-was-odd-but-not-alien.html
QuoteAnd this isn't calling you out Mu-u-ud Brother, but Mo-o-o will say that those that think that there is no such thing as aliens or other intelligent life out there is quite naive.Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that I don’t believe alien life exists—I just don’t think it’s visiting Earth. I do believe there are people out there who really have seen strange things, but saying alien visitors and their spaceships are the reason for such phenomena seems like a stretch. That explanation falls more into the category of mythology/folklore than logic/facts, though I do think it’s a lot of fun to imagine (you know me)…
:rainbowwave
As for the scientific effort to detect alien life—well, that’s a whole other category. To me, the scientific Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is not only worthwhile but necessary to our understanding of science as a whole. I mean, I couldn’t agree with your thoughts more. The way I’ve always seen it, there isn’t even a question of whether life on other planets exists. The more we explore space, the more we find that the circumstances which led to life evolving on Earth aren’t particularly rare elsewhere, as shown by the examples you mentioned. Going further, I don’t find it hard to believe that life with a level of intelligence similar to ours could exist out there. In fact, it seems quite egotistical to me how some people think humans are the only intelligent forms of life in existence. We live in a universe that’s incomprehensibly vast and filled with far more unknowns than knowns—what makes us so sure we’re alone? “What limited thinking,” indeed!
QuoteI'm curious why nobody mentions trying to find life in general...doesn't have to be "big brain" like the humans that we are right now that have evolved from monkeys. On the topic of less advanced extraterrestrial life, I will say that there was quite a stir in the 90s over a meteorite from Mars, ALH 84001, that supposedly showed fossil evidence of microscopic life. This was later concluded to be inaccurate, but the claim caused a lot of excitement in the scientific community at the time.
All this being said, the question is when and where will we confirm the existence of alien life, and will our own species even survive long enough to do so? I suppose, as Neil deGrasse Tyson put it, “There are times, at least for now, when we must be content to love the questions themselves.”
:rainbowThinking
Yes, one has to wonder why flying saucers, quite a blatantly unusual-looking aircraft to be “secretly” investigating another planet with, would be an advanced alien race’s go-to vehicles. Truly, they probably wouldn’t be very efficient! The U.S. government once tried to develop a real-life saucer-shaped aircraft (the Avrocar), but it didn’t perform very well and the project was cancelled. So I guess it’s no wonder the aliens’ flying saucers always crash-land in those stories! :p That being said, I have a couple model flying saucers sitting on the desk in front of me as I type this, anyway. :DD
There has indeed been speculation about whether past or present microbial Martian life could be possible as a result of the traces of water found there, and I would love to see that discovery happen someday! The implications would be amazing!
