Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Saft on March 07, 2009, 12:28:14 PM
This is a furthering from the Gummi Bear thread.  I was interested to see if anyone remembered the 'old' time Disney Television shows and what you do remember of them.

I remember:

Gummi Bears
Llyod in Space
Recess
Ducktales
Talespin
Aladdin
Timon and Pumbaa
The Little Mermaid (adveture episodes, I only liked one and that was the one with the Orca)
Pepper Anne
Dinosaurs
Jungle cubs

Er...
That is all I can remember.
What about you?

From what I remember, Darkwing Duck is a spin-off of Duck Tales. It follows the adventures of Darkwing Duck, a less-than-admired duck superhero. He didn't have any superpowers; he used gadgets I believe. He's kind of like Batman, but sillier and not as competent.

If you're interested in learning more, try looking it up on Google. You're bound to find several sites with information on the show.

I don't recall seeing Darkwing Duck.

I'll look it up on Google.  Thank you DarkHououmon.

I don't believe that Darkwing Duck was a spinoff, because the Drake Mallard character wasn't in the Ducktales series, although his sidekick, Launchpad, was..
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: DarkHououmon on March 10, 2009, 01:16:10 PM
I heard it was a spinoff of one of the episodes of DuckTales.

Quote
The success of DuckTales led to a spin-off series, Darkwing Duck, one year after the show had ended. Darkwing Duck was inspired by two episodes of DuckTales, entitled Double-O-Duck and The Masked Mallard. The original concept had Launchpad McQuack as the star.

We could have had a show about Launchpad? Ah, man, they should have gone with that, and I say that loving Darkwing Duck very much.

Post by: Kor on March 12, 2009, 11:10:04 PM
Maybe it would have been with Launchpad with Darking Duck (and whatever his real identity) as his sidekick.

Didn't watch TV when I was little.  Only movies. :p Mom didn't want me to be influenced by all the bad stuff that's on TV at night since I've always been a night person.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Saft on March 13, 2009, 05:30:01 AM
I didn't watch television all the time when I was little.  I used to be taken to museums, park or when it rained I used to go outside.  I wasn't nocturnal, but I did have trouble sleeping. Now, I'm nocturnal, I guess I was always supposed to be nocturnal what with the sleep issues.

As to Darkwing Duck, I looked it up but I've never seen it.

Just didn't like it very much?

I found the Dutch intro to Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, or at least it says it's in Dutch.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzSGvt-QWrk&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzSGvt-QWrk&feature=related)

& Ducktales intro supposedly in dutch also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U9nhv4D56o&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U9nhv4D56o&feature=related)

the guys name was Drake Mallard. and so DD was based off of Ducktales? I must have missed those episodes then..
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Kor on March 13, 2009, 03:39:23 PM
Maybe the only tie was Launchpad going to work for someone who treats him better and maybe pays better.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Nick22 on March 13, 2009, 03:40:39 PM
Scrooge was far far richer than Drake was, so paying him better was unlikely. Treating him better, might have been a possibility.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Kor on March 13, 2009, 03:42:15 PM
Richer yes, but he seems a tighwad who may not have paid Launchpad as well as Drake Mallard would.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Nick22 on March 13, 2009, 03:44:06 PM
Tightwad is being generous. He was a miser.. so even though Drake didn't nearly as much money, he still could pay him better..
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Kor on March 13, 2009, 03:45:17 PM
So I don't blame Launchpad, going to work for someone who is not as rich, treats me far better, pays better.  I'd have given Scrooge the finger also like he may have done off camera.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Nick22 on March 13, 2009, 03:46:26 PM
Nah, Launchpad may have been a bit dim, but he was a pretty decent guy..
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Kor on March 13, 2009, 03:47:33 PM
On screen at least.  Who knows what he's really like when the camera is turned off or focused elsewhere.

He probably went to his trailer to have a milkshake
Title: Disney Television Shows:

& got a call from Drake who needed a companion & sidekick.

He had to opt of of his contract though :D
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Kor on March 13, 2009, 04:15:16 PM
Likely Drake could afford to pay Scrooge off.

Scrooge always seemed evil to me, not as evil as some other villains in his stories, but still evil.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Nick22 on March 13, 2009, 04:20:10 PM
Scrooge wasn't evil, he was just a greedy miser thats all.
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Kor on March 13, 2009, 04:26:50 PM
Still, he seems a lesser evil to me. And likely always will.

I was hoping you'd enjoy at least one of the openings.  :)

That could be an interesting thread, openings to some of your favorite shows, in your proffered language , though some admin may say that is just spam and likely it's a dumb idea anyway.

I liked ducktales but after seeing the youtube video introduction for darkwing duck, I'm not sure I'd like it.

It reminds me of some other series....

I liked it when I was four.

Then they took it off...
Title: Disney Television Shows:

I never saw that show.. Apparently Sir Blaze was gay, and so they had to to censor any referances to his orientation..
Title: Disney Television Shows:
Post by: Saft on March 13, 2009, 06:46:24 PM
Really?

Is that why they took it off the air?

I guess they had to then, if it was because of that.  Parents would have complained.  Like my Aunt did over disney's movie of Hercules. (That's another disney show I used to watch)  Apparently it was too violent for my cousins....honestly, I was four when I watched the Lion King and Land Before Time....

Apologises for the sort of rant.

Barbar wasn't disney was it?  I used to like Barbar (still do).

Oh, and the old Wile E Coyote  cartoons were far more violent than Hercules.
Babar was a series of books, written by a fRenchman, his name escapes me at the moment..
