They are listening and they hear:

Ducky listens a bit before responding:" It is saying.. this is another fine mess you have gotten me into.  Then another voice is saying something but I can't understand what."

(Just an idea I got from a team of comedians that I'd guess no one here as heard of, Laurel & Hardy.)
