Title: The Princess and the Goblin
Post by: Ptyra on March 18, 2009, 05:26:08 PM
A movie so full of fail, it's win.
Now, I have a hard time accepting this movie is rated G
* The goblin prince (<3) is obsessed with keeping Curdie, a 9-year-old boy, and doing 'nasty things' to him.
* The goblin queen has frighteningly ENORMOUS "melons"...that at some point get squished in Curdie's face XD
* The goblin prince seems to rape the princess, and then he tries to kidnap her
* A random goblin soldier is LICKING the princess' nanny between the--okayI'mout...
* Implied sex between the goblin king and queen...SCARY!
So fail, it's win.

I don't know why I didn't see this when I was little. I have a feeling I would have adored Froglip...or maybe even Turnip, I don't know XD .

My favorite lines

"Hyah! Take mah horse!"
"Oh look, Turnip! It's a boy!" No duh
"A goblin village. Woah. This must be where the goblins live" NO-DUH!!!
"OUTRAGEOUS! OH OUTRAGEOUS!"
"OH OUTRAGEOUS! Oh Mother, you're so monstrous!"
"Isn't that right my little monstrosity?"
"I WANT THEM EATING THE DIRT FROM UNDER MY FINGERNAILSTTTTHHHHH!"
"Oh what a malicious little majesty he is!"
"But I can still sing!" Pathetic, Curdie. Really pathetic.
"Isn't that right, my little immorality?" Jeez, the queen has really weird petnames for Froglip O__O
"HURT HIM! HURT HIM!"
"Oh my child *hits wall* My child *hits wall* IRENE!"

All I can say for now...kinda

Now there's a old movie that I haven't see in years.

I remember that I did enjoy it, even though the goblins frightened me.

imdb.com is a wonderful place to find out.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107875 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107875)

Or if you want to know more:

Also did anyone know that it was a novel?

Yep. AdderXSinuous is my ftw. I tell you, I am TICKED at how little of them there is; absolutely ticked. Especially in the 3rd season.

I skimmed through the book a little, but "Harelip" didn't click with me the way Froglip did. Froglip was so-much-cuter. He's such a Momma's Boy X3 .

One of the things I think is most ridiculous about the movie is how everyone is like "But you don't have a grandmother" to Irene. Everyone has a grandmother, it's just that some of their grandparents are dead or something.

I had an idea of a fanfiction:
We'll say it's a year after the movie takes place. Froglip is not only really mad about his plan failing, but is also extremely upset by the death of his mother (for the fun of it, it's up to the reader to decide how that happened :) ). He comes up with another plan to marry Irene and take control of the Sun People. He would kidnap Irene's cousin Leda, who is the daughter of the Grand Duchess; Irene would, of course, be the only one to go down and bring her back. Something like a ransom. However, Leda's immediate family is more of the wicked step-family, so they don't give a darn that she's been captured and held for ransom.
After a while, Froglip realizes that not only is the plan not working (again), but that he has so much in common with Leda that he thinks he's fallen in love with her and vice versa *dramatic music* !

If anyone has suggestions, feel free to shout 'em out.

Wow I haven't seen this movie in forever! I used to always watch this when I was younger. It was my favorite movie for the longest time. Now that I watch it again, I can't understand why I liked it so much. I just rented it one day and fell in love with it. Now, it's so awful it's good

After the second season of animals of Farthing wood, the show became quite bad.  Not as good quaility as it used to be anyhow.

As to The Princess and the Goblin, yes I thought it was silly of how every said to Irene that she didn't have a Grandmother.  Unless, that particular Grandmother died years and years ago and is somehow a spirit brought back to guide her?

It makes you wonder how they got this in a G rating, they must have pressed and pulled the language in just the right way to get it under the bar.

No, I don't think it was blackmail, they simply had different standards for what passed as G and PG back then, today this would be lucky to gut a PG rating, forget about G..

I just made a video for it with The Spanish Inquisition.
Nobody expects the Goblin Inquisition! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5DiNVkXZac&feature=channel_page) Please try to ignore the green bar. I don't know how those are happening yet, but it's been happening for a while.
I tell you, SO many Froglip scenes had "Spanish Inquisition" written all over it XD
Rate & Review please! [

I'm a little appalled that it's rated G, personally. PG at least. I mean...the goblin queen, for example. When her "melons" are bigger than her own full grown son's torso...
 ...eek

How 'bout Froglip declaring, "I'M NOT STUUUUPID!" just before the princess and himself get washed away :p  :slap  :lol?

Ahhhh, I forgot that one  :DD . I think he just proved himself to be a complete idiot there XD .

I personally hope that Froglip survived falling from the waterfall. When you think about it, he's pretty much rock (except for his feet). I mean sure he wouldn't be emotionally intact (would you after getting shoved down a waterfall by a nine-year-old?), but he could have been alright. I can just imagine him soaking wet and curled up in a fetal position while the Queen is, well being the Queen and babying him...and just ignoring the King entirely XD .

Yes, that's a good thing, but I can't help notice that at some point Curdi gets squashed in the face by them O__O . Poor, poor Curdi :( . And Froglip keeps getting REALLY close to a similar fate. But then, I'm sure he wouldn't mind that much XD

Yeah, unfortunately, but its supposed to be in the vein of "grandma gives grandson a big hug"..
