Title: Titanic: The Animated Musical
Post by: WeirdRaptor on April 09, 2009, 12:56:43 AM
Technically, its called "Titanic: The Legend Goes On..." Yeah, that doesn't sound like anything else concerning a certain other movie ( My Heart Will Go On (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Heart_Will_Go_On) and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtS45bh_INY) ).
I was cruising the internet not long ago when I stumbled onto this little gem of insensitivity and mediocrity.

I found it here: List of film about the RMS Titanic (http://[URL=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_about_the_RMS_Titanic)
Its the second to last one on the list. When I read over this description, I just HAD to see this. "Titanic: The Legend Goes On..., a 2001 Italian animated musical directed by Camillo Teti."

You can view the film here: Titanic Animated Movie (English) Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlQq7aDjWqU)

Or, you can just view a review of it by an online critic here: Nostalgia Critic - Titanic Animated (Part 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp14BkL3E7Y) Fair warning, he can be profane.

:o     What some people will do for a buck. I've seen some pretty nasty toned stuff in my time, but by all that is holy and recent, I have never seen a tragedy taken advantage of like this before. "And they lived happily ever after" my ass!!!!!
Even Pocahontas butchered the events surrounding it better than this! What's next: September, 11 2001: The Animated Musical with dancing rats and Jazz playing llama?!
So, let's here your thoughts on all this.

this is almost as bad as the Star Wars Christmas Special back in the late 70s.

:anger  :anger  :anger Why do people make films like this?

Ah yes, I've heard of this movie. I first heard of it from the Nostalgia Critic's review. My brother and I find it funny that they say it's the "real" adventures of the Titanic, yet they have talking animals.

Wow, what a way to honor those who died in that tragedy:

Making an animated musical about it.

I would rather want to watch the 1997 movie Titanic than this.

Of course!  The 1997 Titanic was an excellent blockbuster with people who could actually act, a great story, and was one of the best movies ever.  The special effects were goot too. When she ship sank, I felt like I was getting sucked down with it.

This pile of EPIC FAIL, however, should be forgotten forever and all involved in its creation should be removed from the gene pool to prevent this from ever happening again.

Apart from the Rapping Dog (rap didn't really come into prominence until the 80s), they stole situations from several Disney movies including the two Dalmations(101 dalmations) and the ugly stepsisters(Cinderella). Not to mention the Mexican mice were horrible stereotypes ala Speedy Gonzales..

plus it rips off just about every Disney movie.

Yeah, tell me about it. Let's see, 101 Dalmatians (the two dogs, Cruella, Horace and Jasper), Sherlocke Holmes, Cinderella, and the love situation in Cameron's better, but still terrible movie.

Ah!  A movie SO bad that the creator denies it's existence.

Gee, how much worse can you get? :D

You can't, which is why this film has earned its richly deserved place among the "Worst animated Films ever"

I never knew this existed. Until I saw the Nostalgia Critic's review on it. "The real adventures of the Titanic"? Oh, sure as if the real Titanic had sterotypical mexican mice and rapping dogs. That rapping dog was awful and I love rap music.
This movie was never released to the United States and now I see why. It is awful. One of the worst animated movies I could ever even think about and I know that just by seeing clips in the review.

:anger I hate that rapping dog.  I want to KILL that rapping dog. :x  What the heck were these retards thinking when they created this pile of crap?  This piece of garbage is an insult to all those who died in the sinking of the Titanic!

How strange when I am doing Titanic for my school musical that I find this? This is truly a disgrace. <_<

I'm willin gto bet your school's rendering of it is probably a WHOLE lot more respectful, though.

"And they lived happily ever after" (?!).

I love Nostalgia Critic, and I didn't believe this existed before I saw the review. Who the hell looks at this and says, "What a good idea!"?

I still think everyone involved in this load of crap should have been removed from the gene pool so they couldn't spread their stupidity.  I think Plan 9 from Outer Space was better than this load of bullcrap.  The people who made this movie were completely stupid.  They had to be if they thought anyone would actually enjoy a freaking rapping dog, stereotypical Mexican mice, one dimensional characters, cheap ripoffs of far superior Disney movies, crappy animation, a plot worse than what a preschooler could come up with, and several other things I don't care to go into.

NC told it better. :p

Sometimes I wonder though is so horribly poor a movie does not give more delight to the people than a moderately good one. People love to complain about things and a moderately good movie would probably not have gone unnoticed at all. Unless someone speaks up on behalf of that movie (not likely as it is "criticized" for good reason) this thread will remain nothing more but a continuous bashing of the movie. This however seems to give pleasure to many.

Who or what is NC?

Nostalgia Critic or NC, hes a guy who provides commentary on films, usually crappy ones, like Batman and Robin or this ...

As Nick said. He reivews older films that were never that good to begin with and have aged even worse. He does have positive reivews, though, such as his top 11 lists, in which Land Before Time has made appearances because he's also a fan. Heck, he might even be on this board just not admitting that he's the NC.

I like listening to his reviews, myself. I know a lot of negativity goes into them, but its mostly well-deserved and I enjoy seeing films people have fond memories of, despite their actual quality, getting the ripping they deserve.

The creators couldn't be that stupid.  They found a way to get funding to make the film, pay themselves, pay animators, voice actors, have a DVD release.  They did something right to get paid for something so rotten.

The rapping dog is worse than Jar Jar Binks! Jar Jar is still bad but at least he didn't sing or rap in the Star Wars episodes I,II,III!

I've had to take about an hour to cool down after reading this topic.  I did NOT see this topic when it was made (I was probably moving at the time).

But geeze a f****** musical?  It can't get any worse than this.  So horrible.....these people deserve to go bankrupt. :anger

I have to admit the uncut version is a bit better but not by much I'd put the uncut on 3.0 out of ten the cut one I'd put at 0.5. and in the uncut one the dog doesn't rap about how it's party time and the band of mexican mice do a better song than the cut one.

Yeah, they're smart enough to know a way to rip us off.  It was a quick buck move, and they know it.  Yep, they were that greedy.

I don't know, there were some pretty bad aspects to it, but I didn't think the movie was all that bad. The Disney ripoffs were pretty obvious, the "Hold Me" song got kinda repetitive after a while, the other two songs couldn't have been more out of place, the animation was pretty bad, the dolphins were kinda random ("Everybody died but there were dolphins so it was a happy ending"), but while I agree the movie wasn't great I think there's worse out there.
I just reread the paragraph I just wrote and it sounded like a farce. I'm going to pretend the sarcasm that must have fueled my optimism is somewhere in my sleep-deprived unconscious, because despite all evidence to the contrary, I enjoyed myself during that movie.

Ah yes. This film. My dad found it in a discount store and thought it would be funny. I started watching it and called him into the room when the dog started rapping...

I heard that apparently some versions of the DVD have a label or something that says "No-one dies in the movie". Well, maybe not on screen, but that random couple dies, and the mouse even mentions at the end that Celine Dion (I mean, the singer) died. Oops.

I am a fan of the ship Titanic, so when watching things like this, I can't help but laugh at mistakes, like how several rooms seem to have been merged together in some scenes. In one scene, the main guy smashes a window to free third class passengers. I don't know why, the room is clearly the First Class Palm Court, and there should be a HUGE screen door to his left. Or he could have just gone back the way they came and taken the door outside. They're on A deck, a first class deck with exits everywhere and no locked doors. (Ok, that's enough of that)

I also wonder how they didn't get complaints for portrayal of people. James Cameron got into a heap of trouble after showing Officer Murdoch killing himself. In this movie, there is that one officer who continously changes character, going from jealous, to friendly, to full-blown evil, who sneaks onto a boat, and is a general jerk. They say he is the First Officer, how did they get away with such disrespect towards the real people?
