For the opening of the film it will feature a Hailstorm, just like in The Day After Tommorrow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTPyuD_J5Eg) (from 0:20-1:35). But, it will be different than in that video clip you saw. Chomper will get struck in the head by a Hailstone, but it can't be to big that it kills Chomper, (but only big enough to just get knocked unconscious, but not without it giving him a severe Head Injury, which will be fatal unless they find a special plant, that will save his life) but it also has to be big enough that it destroys the Great Valley leaving it a barren wasteland (Is what I'm saying making sense).
-
If a head injury is involved, I don't know if a plant can save him. If he is struck in the head hard enough that it will be fatal, I'm not sure if there's much they can do for him. That's brain damage there. I don't think a flower could help to be honest.
But if the hail piece had some kind of virus or bacteria (I think they can exist in the ice, but I could be wrong) and he gets sick as a result of that, then that could probably work and give a reason for the gang to find a special flower.
-
What? Where did you get knowledge of a 15th movie?
-
there is no 15th movie, heck thee isn't a 14th either..
-
I think someone really needs to stop referring to the own fanfictions like they were movies.
I agree that a plant is not the right cure for a head wound, but need there be a special cure at all? I suppose it would take some time for a head injury to heal. There could be many scenes including Chomper's having a headache as a result from the blow on the head and he may be a bit numbed at times (for example when making hasty movements like jumping to his feet etc.) I think such effects of an injury that is primarily healed by time could be more interesting, and above all more alternate (from what we've seen already) elements in a story.

If your thinking that Chomper has to eat the plant, then your wrong the plant will be used like in this picture here (The Bandages):

P.S. If the picture is creepy, then I'll find another one that's not creepy, if you tell me.

definitely softball size, just because I would love to see chunks of ice that big falling down onto Earth.
-
the only way there could be hail is during a cold time. the earth during the dinosaurs time was much warmer than today
-
Not quite. Hail can occur even at warm times under the right conditions (so we sometimes get hail in the midst of summer). I don't know the exact details of the weather conditions required to create hail, but I think it is something about frozen particles in cloud making contact with particles in the air (like dust etc.) so the frozen particles have something to "cling to" so to speak. Even in the midst of summer there are freezing temperatures at high altitudes so whenever clouds at that altitude make contact with particles of dust at such a high altitude the result can be hail. Therefore hail can occur even in countries which are not exactly known for cold weather. I think there was something in the news about a hailstorm hitting Sydney some time ago (I don't think the temperature usually gets to the freezing point there). I don't think I ever actually saw a hailstorm myself in wintertime while I've seen several in spring and summer.

Actually, hail forms in storm clouds when supercooled water droplets freeze on contact with condensation nuclei, such as dust or dirt. The storm's updraft blows the hailstones to the upper part of the cloud. The updraft dissipates and the hailstones fall down, back into the updraft, and are lifted up again. The hailstone gains an ice layer and grows increasingly larger with each ascent. Once a hailstone becomes too heavy to be supported by the storm's updraft, it falls from the cloud.

I think that's pretty much what Malte described.

Sorry :( , I thought it was different than what he described.
P.S. DarkHououmon I replied on a post you made on May/04/2009 at 09:30 PM right here (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=5467&view=findpost&p=9092023), and I would like a reply back, please?

It is what I described with the only difference that you copy-pasted your line from the Wikipedia article about hail :p

Is that bad :oops ?
P.S. Do you think softball sized hail might actually kill Chomper if it struck him in the head?
-
Yes, if it struck him in the head, yes it would kill him.

I'm no expert but...
Yeah. He would die.
-
now that I think about it, anything above a walnut size hail wouls likely be fatal..

And anything below a walnut size hail would cause a severe head injury?
-
Yep.. it would be better imo for you to drop the whole hail idea

I thought it would make the movie sound interesting.

Hailstorms can happen in the middle of July, usually accompanied by a twister. Anyhoo, I'm positive a hailstone the size of a softball would whack him. Even small hailstones hurt when they hit ya :o. I would know, for I was outside on a warm day a couple of years ago when the sky suddenly darkened and hail the size of golfballs came down. I managed to get inside quickly but not without being pelted by some, and it stings and hurts :!. Maybe around golfball size would be ideal.

So Golfball sized Hail would not Kill Chomper, but give him a severe head injury?
-
Most likely. Anything much bigger would almost certainly kill him.

Isn't that what Nick22 (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?action=profile;u=19) said before, well anyway it's decided the opening of the film will feature Golfball sized Hail (but if you think I'm wrong then tell me), Thank You.
P.S. What about this post here (that was made on May/05/2009 at 09:01 AM (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=5467&view=findpost&p=9092023))

^ I'd rather you remove that picture from your posts. There are less creepy pictures to illustrated what a galea is.
-
Yeah. I'm not too comfortable with that picture myself.

Alright, the picture has been changed, so is it creepy as well or not?
