Title: E3 2009 Hitlist!
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on June 05, 2009, 09:45:24 PM
Hey fellow gamers!

Anyone been keeping in touch with the latest E3 news?! By the sounds of it there are some huge titles on the way across all platforms for the end of this year and the start of next. Some big surprises announced on the gaming front including these hot hitters:

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Yoshi's in this one as a rideable character!
New Legend of Zelda Title - it was only announced but nothing released in terms of footage
Metal Gear Solid: Rising - Raiden's story as to how he becomes how he does in MGS4 (so it is speculated)
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker - the bridging story between MGS3 and what was to become Outer Heaven in the first Metal Gear game back in the 80s
Trico - From the makers of the PS2 smash hit ICO and Shadow of Collossus
Metroid: Other M - With the Prime series over, this all new Metroid adventure is under development of Team Ninja (the same guys that made Ninja Gaiden and NG: Sigma series). Unlike Prime, demo videos show a much more dynamic pitch shift jumping from 1st to 3rd person perspective whilst showing off some stylish Samus flair
The Conduit - Wii's hardcore shooter is grounds for some serious competition for those who think the little white box is just for kiddies!
CoD: Modern Warfare 2 - not much need to be said for this. Kinda goes without saying
God of War 3 - Bloodier and more brutal than ever. The final chapter of Kratos versus the Gods of Olympus. Seriously, you could become a surgeon after seeing the body parts fly about in this game!
Uncharted 2 - the first one was great and this one looks even better!
Assassin's Creed 2 - Now set in the Italian Renaissance peroid, a descendant of Altair takes to the streets with all new moves, new weapons...and the ability to swim (chants: HALLEUJAH!)

Those are the ones that peaked my interests...anyone got any others? Failing that, any other news on what's been shown? looks like

Well, you better stop nibbling your cuticles now Lillefot. An English translation to FF13 isn't due until at least March/April next year. I guess it's an improvement from December 2010 so I guess we can be grateful for that much. At least we've got Dissidia (PSP) and the 2 other Kingdom Hearts games to look forward to this year.

There has been a formal announcement of Final Fantasy 14 but like #11 it will be an online only but it will be across PS3, 360 and PC.

You have no fear of that Noname. Check out some of the trailer on youtube or any big gaming site. They've got all the reviews and videos there. They look just a little bit awesome ;)

Don't worry there. This new title is for Wii. Apparently, Miyamoto-san is looking to break away from the ready made formula of tying all Zelda storylines back to the Ocarina of Time series. Apparently he's looking for a fresh idea that's unrelated to any of the previous games.

About time, if you ask me. For much time, we've been into the controller to, well, control Link's sword, it would be a pretty good change to start using the Wii remote to swing. Some consider it might not be a good idea, but I'd actually think its a good innovation. Same goes to voice-acting. As long as we don't end up "Mah boi", I think voicing a Zelda game is a pretty good idea. Its that last bit missing. Then again, they've never done it before, I doubt they'll do it now. :s

Yet, I didn't know details about the storyline. ._.

Halo 3: ODST
Halo: Reach
Bad Company 2
Modern Warfare 2
Bioshock 2
Final Fantasy XIII
Mass Effect 2
Brutal Legend (Long live Jack Black!)
Splinter Cell: Conviction

Bolded letters means it's the game I'm most eager for. Yay for Firefight mode and 24 multiplayer maps!

There is also a new Super Mario Bros coming out for Wii that is apparently Quad-player! So you can play classic Mario Bros action but with up to 3 other friends! Looks pretty sweet from what I've seen so far and it plays pretty well.

Word is, the new Zelda for Wii may include the usage of the new MotionPlus feature for the Wiimotes. There is somewhat a length of uncertainty as to whether MotionPlus will be a necessity or not as of right now but there are considerations for it. As for the voice acting, somehow I don't think that is a factor that is liable to change. Most fans of the series wouldn't want Link to suddenly start talking having spend nearly 20 years of him NOT talking. It is an establish normality fans have come to recognise in the Zelda series so I doubt something that well set will be grounds for any amount of alteration.

Therein the legend of the mute Link, right? =D

Well, the voice acting I was referring was actualy to the rest of the characters. While grunts and such have worked till now, a small variation wouldn't hurt, I think?

@Nick - That would be real good too, well noted.

Since everyone is on the topic of Zelda i thought i might share this with all of you, during the Roundtable with Miyamoto, they showed one illustration of the new zelda game.
The major thing that was mention is that Link does not have the master sword in the picture, in fact, he doesn't have a sword at all...

I think this is what Miyamoto-san was talking about when he said he wanted to break away from the relativity of Zelda games to Ocarina of Time. Apparently he's looking to create a new series away from OOT with a new range of weapons and a brand new plotline. So far this is all he's revealed. By the looks of things it will still be set in the current Zelda universe coz that girlish figure looks like a Zora to me...
Title: E3 2009 Hitlist!
Post by: Explorer on June 08, 2009, 02:40:56 PM
A Zora, yes, but it also looks like the Great Fairy from Wind Waker. Remember? She also had a pointy hat like that... even though it was her hair... but the other Great Fairies had it like that.

If its a Zora, though, we can't complain either.

The fact that Link doesn't have a sword must be the change Miyamoto mentioned. In previous Zeldas, Link was depicted with the Master Sword, or the logo had it. In titles where the Master Sword doesn't enter, you don't see Link with it. Stupid theory, I know. Maybe this is because the Master Sword won't enter, then...?

The way I see it, Halo 3: ODST is what Halo 2 was meant to be.

Remember the E3 2003 demo with the Chief going through New Mombasa, beating the Covenant, fighting on EARTH?

Now we get that chance to fight on New Mombasa for (hopefully) the entire game, and as an ODST, which is a nice change of pace.

They announced a new Little Big Planet for PSP and the new installment of Capcom's community-based hack 'n' slash Monster Hunter will be for Wii! Looking like another solid few months of excellent gaming titles for the turn of the year  ;)

In addition to H3:ODST, there's also going to be a prequel game to the whole series; and I'm not talking about the already released and awsome Halo Wars. It's called Halo: Reach. Check it.

In addition, Mass Effect 2 is in the works. Does Commander Shephard die? You're just gonna have to wait and see. Oh, also... be sure to save any previously completed games from the first game, that data will be transfered over to the next game. Awsome.

Got word that the New Super Mario Bros Wii is due out "this holiday season". I think it's supposed to keep us entertained until Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes out (which does not have a release window as of yet). Sadly, as much as it is 4-player co-op/counter-op, there will be no online feature for this game. A bit of a bummer really coz this sorta game cries out for online connectivity. I know I'd love to bust some Goombas with you guys on here ;)

Now, a quick question. Can someone enlighten me as to what that phrase "this holiday season" ACTUALLY means? Are they talking about school holidays (when schools are out)? Or around Xmas time? Which "holiday season" do they specifically mean coz it means bugger all to me  :DD

Sam Fisher is back, and looking better than ever.

I like how much more fast paced it is. And Sam seems to have taken a page from Jason Bourne in this game. This time around, he's after (who I'm guessing) the man who killed his daughter in Double Agent.

Holiday season is during Q4 (quarter 4 of the year), which is Christmas. The main reason Christmas is targeted as the holiday season is probably because of the large amount of sales that goes on during that period.

Some games to interest me, for the pc and the ds, but I hope the pc folks cut back on using securom, though I doubt they will.  I heard rumors that Bioware said that Dragon age will have as the only drm a disc check and not securom, but I won't believe that till after it's come out and been out for a while since if does or does not have securom I can likely find out without having to purchase or download it.

you know, the one thing i wanted when playing KOTOR is to be able to play online, looks like this will be the answer. Lets just hope it doesn't get boring doing quests like WoW does.
