I've just been to Youtube and it seems that they're not embracing 16:9. They've decided instead to switch everything to 16:10. I wondered why this was, so I decided to encode an FLV file in 16:9 and put it on my website. I think it's too wide, what do you think?

Oh, and I'm talking about the movie on the page if you're wondering. It's too wide isn't it? It doesn't even look right on my 16:9 laptop.

Looks like the ratio is off by a bit. Slightly wider than it should look.

Exactly what I was thinking. But I've checked the ratio myself. It is 16:9. I guess I'll have to switch it to 16:10. The actual video is encoded in 16:9 so adjusting the player window wouldn't do anything but put black bars along the top and bottom of the video. I have to re-encode the entire video now. :(

Does it look off?
I have a 16:9 TV so I'm a bit used to how that aspect ratio "should" look. That video actually didn't look overly wide to me. I thought it looked normal.

Well not anymore. :p I already changed it to 16:10. It looks quite nice now on both my 16:9, 16:10, and 4:3 monitors. :yes
