Well I've been experimenting with Photoshop a lot recently in an attempt to find a great new signature image. I started with this original image:

Then I thought it might clash with the current background and calm soothing design theme so I decided to change it into a night scene with water instead of lava. This was the result:

Notice that the characters have NOT been changed at all. I only changed the background. If I had changed the entire picture the characters would have looked whitewashed. Well, what do you think? This is only my first attempt at making a new signature image, so I want your honest opinion.

I like it. I love how you didn't even touch the characters while working on the background, I soo couldn't do that.
As for a signature image, it almost looks like they're afraid of whatever is below :p If that is your intention then I guess it's fine :p

Besides the spots you missed on Ruby, Chomper and Ducky, it looks good. :p

Woah...how did you manage that? Cutout from the original?

I don't spend hours upon hours on one image when errors are not noticeable. The image will be even smaller when I make it into my signature and even as it is you can't see the errors unless you download the image and zoom up on it to the pixel level. :p

Well, not exactly the fear part, but the characters is what you look at first, not the text. It's natural to look down at what the characters are looking at and that will be where the links are. Advertising tactic. It's used all the time.

I have my ways......but I didn't cut out any characters or use any layers of any kind. :D :lol As I said I'm experimenting. It's time to look out of the box. I originally used this method to edit the Saphira photo that's applied as the background on my server, but it didn't work properly for that exact situation. It seems to have worked quite nicely for this image though. :yes
