Title: Am I known?
Post by: Lilfut on August 28, 2009, 11:44:28 AM
Hey. Out of curiosity, am I well known on the GOF? Like, did you recognize me before you saw my name, by my avatar and/or sig?

Please tell the truth. I won't be offended if you don't know me.

You've only been here for 3 months and have made only 66 posts so.....no, I wouldn't say you're "well known".  Normally post count doesn't matter, but when you have so few posts it does.  It's not your signature, your avatar, or your personality.  You have to give it time and post more before everyone knows things about you.  I for one know practically nothing about you but in time when you start posting more you'll have more of a reputation and I'll have seen your interests a few times to remember something about you.

Personally I'd guess I did not know you before you came here.  But it is that way for me for everyone here.

Your known just a bit better now!  :lol

Seriously, it will be a little while... wait until your post count rises a bit, and try to be here on a regular basis.  :)

Just post when you can to some threads that interest you the most.  That is one way to do that.

I seem to recall you came here cause you knew someone else on the forum already. Lillefot, maybe. Is that right?

You can't let this sort of thing bother you. I've got almost 2,000 posts and I don't think many users know me very well. It's just an online forum, and the important thing is that we're LBT fans.

Well yes, I know the avatar and signature don't mean much. But users like Belmont2500 seem to be pretty well known, having maybe doubled my posts.

It doesn't matter that much, anyway. I guess it's only a matter of time.

Also, out of curiosity, what's the difference between Member and Member+? I'd say it's just Petrie, but it was there when I was Spike too.

Once upon a time, we were all merely members. Then the admins decided they only wanted users who were still active to be able to see things like After Midnight. So they made a new level, Member+, whose only requirement be that they post some point after the level was created. This prevents people who haven't posted since 2004 from seeing the new stuff in AM and places like that.

Ah. Thanks, that's good to know. I've wanted to ask, but I couldn't a topic that fits before now. :oops

I'm sure any admin can give you the full details.

Yea. It just means you have a certain postcount so that you can see the AM section :)

Nobody here really knew me well before I had like 100 posts. After that I started adding members on MSN, which really helped me with getting to know them... And of course, they getting to know me.

I also felt more comfortable here after I did that and that's why I started posting more :)

I think she'd say something more along the lines of "You're known by those that know you".

You'll have to post in threads or join in chats on MSN for people to know you, or for you to know them.  It works both ways.

I don't know you very much aside from the fact that you made an LBT version of the webcomic Darths and Droids and your Pistolero-esque signature picture and your signature chain of "it flew real low".

You shouldn't worry so much Lilfut. As with making friends face to face, it takes time. It's no popularity contest here and everyone is friendly enough to get along with. Just getting stuck in with topic posts and try and catch a few people online (think MSN seems to be the weapon of choice but others have alternative IM programs like YIM, AIM etc)

Give it time, you'll be a familiar face around here in no time ;)

Yes, just give it time.  and if you want to try an im program there are many including pidgin.  Some of them like Pidgin can connect to multiple others instead of just 1.  Just give it time and post to the threads that interest you the most.  maybe after a while start a conversation or 3 by pm.  Then go from there maybe into IM's.

Yeah, I guess so.

I right now want to thank the whole forum for getting me to almost 100 posts. Long-time goal of mine.

Hey...that's a good question. XD Eh...to me you're known a little tiny bit, mostly by your Jittery Dragon avatar.  :p

Hmmm...I wonder if I'm known on this forum... :lol
