I was just out stargazing with the huge, $800 telescope my mom got me for my birthday last year and I found the first planet I had ever spotted with it! :DD :DD Guess which planet it was.
-
Venus? :P:
That one is clearly visible with the eye only, so I suppose you are talking of a planet not so easily visible. Uranus?
-
Actually it is one of the visible ones. :p Jupiter. It isn't the first time I've seen Jupiter in the sky. But this is the first time I've seen it with detail. o_o You can't see the red spot, but you can see the orange and cream strips of cloud that make up the atmosphere. There are also little stars close to it too, the moons of Jupiter. It was beautiful. Just beautiful. :DD
-
I just returned from a supermarket. One of the papers lying there (not the one I bought) had an article on the first page which mentioned that Jupiter was particularly well visible and beautiful last night.
-
Darn...I thought the joke was you saw Uranus. :lol :lol :lol :lol
-
Man I want a telescope so badly. I've only dreamed of seeing the planets close up like that :o
-
Hopefully you can save up $800 to get a good, honking telescope. :o But the experience it's totally worth your money. :DD
-
To be honest, that's actually been a life long dream of mine. I've always imagined what everything would look like up there; the real thing! :D
But the experience it's totally worth your money.
Haha, oh yea! :P:
But $800 hehe, I don't even have a job yet  Hopefully I can get one sometime soon...although there are other bigger problems that are in the way
-
Oh.
I don't even have a job yet
Me neither. :lol

Is it just me, or do science threads seem to die out fast in this forum?
-
Oh, well. Since no one responded I guess this topic is officially dead.

You are quickly giving up a thread that exists for little more than 24 hours (and got more respnses in that time than many other threads), don't you? After all this is a forum, not a chatroom, which is why responses shouldn't be expected in a minute tact (your last two posts are just 14 (!) minutes apart! Anyway, for a thread to continue something interesting needs to be posted, something people can respond to.

Sorry. I just get really down when someone looks at my topic and then doesn't write anything, especially if my post was a question directed at the user who just skipped my topic. It makes me feel like I'm being ignored. Also whenever I log on when there's a majority of users, they all leave just minutes after I'm on. I think that might just be a coincidence, or I'm just very unlucky.
-
^ Largely unlucky...we all live in different time zones, so we certainly can have places to go and things to do the moment you happen to come on. Very often I'm always on by myself. It sure isn't because people want to ignore me.

Sorry, is this about the post you made? I saw it but I didn't really know what to say at the moment and had to go
Sadly, the big problem I have is homesickness :( which is why I had to drop out of school and get homeschooled. Yea I know, it's pretty pathetic but it's true :cry2
Another big problem is that I'm a really shy person which is why working at McDonalds or something would be extremely difficult :cry
I hope I can overcome these problems before it's time to get a job :(
-
Awww, that's too bad. :( I hope you DO get one soon.
